Bigass Anniversary Stay-cation Wrap-Up: Loopy Downtown Shop; Red Ruffled Sidney Shop (and Flashback); Zoom Floral; Mom Visit and Favourite Dress Flashback; Double Zoom & Work Plaid

Hello, my friends! I'm back - did you miss me? I enjoyed my blogging break, but now I'm ready to share with you the fun times I had this past extra-long Anniversary Stay-cation weekend. We dressed up, we shopped twice, went to see Mom and there were also Zoom calls! So much fun stuff, and so many outfits.

Get yourself settled, grab a cup of whatever, and enjoy!

Friday: Downtown Shopping!

First of all, Happy Anniversary to my dear love - here's to another 24 years of life's adventures! Thank you for being here for me, walking this path together. We are a great couple.
To celebrate, L and I usually take a long weekend for our wedding anniversary and fly to Vancouver to shop, and hang out with friends, but that's still not in the cards (next year!?). Last year, we were in the early day of the pandemic - we made the best of it, and had a hilarious time with our "Vampire Anniversary" (here, highly recommended, one of my favourite posts ever).

This year, we decided we'd just do all the Vancouver stuff, only we'd stay in town for it. Instead of dashing for the seaplane, we strolled to town for brunch.
I had to wear this new-to-me loopy dress right away! I also anticipated going to Fluevog, trying on clothes, and doing a lot of walking, so factored in all my outfit parts accordingly.

  • Turtleneck - Jacob, thrifted; last seen here in February, invisibly layered
  • Dress - Tangerine Jill, consignment; purchased here for $50.00
  • Shoes - Groovy Huysmans, Fluevog; last worn here in February with a winterized dress
  • Coat (below) - Kimchi Blue; last seen here in November 2020 (Flashbacked there)

I layered up with my sparkly black viscose turtleneck.
And I had to wear the pink tights, doncha think?
We had a nice day, with some clouds and sun.
It was a bit cold walking home in the evening.

Masked up - this is how I appeared in public.
Ready to rock! I had very enthusiastic reactions to my loopy dress!

I love wearing my yeti jacket when I'm out shopping - it's warm and funky, and not too bulky.
I was glad to have my gloves!

I carried a small bag with shopping bags rolled up inside.
We were both heavily laden with bags by the end of the day!

Outerwear stuff:
Oops, forgot to put my purse in there!

  • Mask - by Mom
  • Leather gloves - consignment
  • Purse (not shown) - Rebecca Minkoff, thrifted

The stuff:
These booties are great for walking! I'm getting my money's worth out of them, for sure.

Minimal bling:
I took the turquoise ring off partway through the day - my hands were cold and it wanted to slip off.

  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall

L and I went to the Ruby for brunch - we both had the pulled chicken hash, so good.
L is looking fine in his 15-year-old nearly vintage jacket, and recently found consignment embroidered cowboy shirt. Rock on with your bad self, baby!

Our first stop was Fluevog, where we each had multiple gift cards (a special "THANK YOU" to Mom for having two waiting for us at the counter when we walked in! So sweet!) to spend. We traditionally buy each other a pair, so we each got two pairs each total.
I bought L these red floral beauties (link here to their site - all links 'cause I love - and because his size is being shipped from another store). They're called the Modvog Dandolos, and they were $299.00

These stunners are the Idols Presley (link here), which were on sale for $329.99
The upper is a custom "JF" (John Fluevog) textile with brocade roses. I love the sweet blue leather details.
They have an inside zip for easy on/off.

And this is what L bought me/I bought myself.
Meet the Super Fine Eminence (link here), which were on sale for $269.99 (from the original $419.00).

They are a jacquard weave fabric in gold and purple, with plush pink chenille velvet in raised fuzzy sections.
I'm not sure why baby blue laces were chosen - I'd prefer pink or purple. I might go buy a length of ribbon and redo the laces.

I adore the look of these, though.
Little gold leather sections to match the gold leather-wrapped heels. The inside of the back of the heel area is a butter soft pink suede.

"Super fine - Yes indeed you are!"
So pretty! These looked so good with the pink tights I had on!

These are the Woodland East End boots (link here), which were $399.00.
I fell HARD for these blue bad boys. All those buckles!

The plaid on the sides has yellow, blue, green and orange/red - it's printed on suede. The inset tongue section is also suede.
All those little buckles are adjustable for the perfect fit. That's a great heel for walking, barely 2 inches.
And an inside zip is always nice.
There's the signature! These have rubber soles and are exceedingly comfy.

I had a total of $550.00 in gift cards, so a big THANK YOU to Mom (x 2), my Winesday gals, L, and my office's VP team.

We bid adieu to our Fluevogologist Wayne and headed across the street to Mango's, where we found two shirts for L.
This is a great black and white print and will be a useful shirt for pairing with L's various band tees.

I love the print: Sex, Drugs, Rock 'N' Roll!
Skulls, booze and crossed guitars. Love it. This was marked down to $129.00.

And because it's our anniversary and we splurge, L bought another shirt.
I love the pattern on this one - very jungle-ish.
Also $129.00. Those colours will go with so much in L's wardrobe.

Exhausted from all the shopping my delicate flower of a husband headed to the Garrick's Head Pub to have a few restorative beverages, while I continued shopping at Flavour Upstairs.

I had to wait for about 20 minutes to get in - they were busy! - but it was worth it. I found this amazing vintage wool blazer.
It's a bit hard to see, but it's navy blue, with yellow and red stripes. It's a very boxy cut blazer, totally in the late 80s mode of boyfriend jacket.

It has no labels except this "Yuppie Ladies" one on the inner lining.
I noted with interest that the spare button on the inside seam does not match the buttons on it at all.

I suspect that the previous owner changed the buttons out to be less garishly 80s.
There are the stitches where the shoulder pads were removed.

I think it would have been a fairly expensive blazer originally - note how the plaids are lined up perfectly on the collar, the pocket flaps (there are 3 real pockets!) and in the body.
This was $39.99 - I probably would have passed on this another time due to that being a little pricey, but L's previous holiday advice whispered in my ear and said, "Just buy it!"

I fell in love with this gorgeous pink and white silk polka dot top.
Just a simple shell - and it still has its shoulder pads!

There's a bit of damage at the bottom of the button-holed loop at the nape of the neck.
I might reinforce that, or might just skip it if I'm feeling lazy.

It's by Gino Collection and was $22.99.
This is likely late 80s, same as the jacket. It was $22.99 - again, it felt a little high, but what the heck, it's only money.

I couldn't leave this amazing maxi skirt behind!
I love the wild riot of colours.
Tomato red, black, orange, lime green and white.

Look at that double-knit polyester! Not a spot of age!
It buttons from waist to knee, and it has snaps between all of the buttons to help keep it secure. Genius!

The whole thing is lined in tomato red satin, right to the hem.
A lovely vintage label from the 1960s. "Vienna Model Hooper Associates Ltd. Made in Austria."

It was only $19.99.
Vix's Etsy site has a Hooper Associates Ltd. shirt for sale here and another one here (fabulous!) if you're interested!

I took one look at this jacket and I knew exactly how old it was - I had a very similar one in bands of red, cream and black back in 1992.
Instead, we have mustard, teal, and orange.
Same on the back. I think this jacket is a wool blend - there is no content tag.

The brand is L'Femme de la Sair" which is totally a made up phrase, as that is bad French - "L'Femme" is not a proper construct! It would be "La Femme", always. I got only two hits on that name, and neither clothing item actually had that label, which actually supports that this is pre-internet era.
Anyway, for $34.99, I was happy. Dig those fabric buttons!

I hung out at the pub with L for a drink.
I got a kick out of this sign on the way to the washrooms.

From there, L went and browsed in record shops, then came and caught up to me at the Patch. I'd already finished the upstairs and we quickly took a turn through the crowded vintage section downstairs, where L found himself this amazing snowflake sweater.
I love the bands of purple.

It's by Classic Essentials (such a 90s name). It was $26.00.
He found the sleeves a little short. "You know that's because it's a women's sweater, right, love?"

"I don't care - it's a man's sweater now!" said he. It's nice and long, and will be a good warm (it's acrylic) couch-sweater.

This awesome eye-boggling shirt had to go home with him too.
Check out the fantastic circles in white, blue and green.
No Bonz is a hiliarious name for a brand, but it's made in the USA. This was $26.95, but the Patch had a BOGO event on.

"What's BOGO?"
"Everyone knows this!"
"Not everyone, apparently"

Buy One/Get One Free - that's what BOGO is. So his sweater and shirt together were $26.95.

I found a couple of things upstairs. I always look through the sweaters to see if something catches my eye - there was an entire rack of cream cabled sweaters...and one red one. This has the most amazing cabling - and the colour is a rich deep red.
It has two zipper pulls, so you can unzip the long bottom if you're sitting, or give yourself more of an open neck. It also has two big soft pockets.

Look at that back detail! This sweater actually comes in at the waist, and then curves out over the bum.
The zipper pulls are pretty.
It's by Aran Crafts, and it's 100% merino wool, made in Ireland.
Ah, here we are - I found it on their website! It's called the Double Collar Coat, and it's on sale from the original $252.52 for only $159.46 (and it comes in dark green, wine and parsnip).

It's an extra-small, which fits me perfectly. I've been wearing it at home all weekend, and it's been so comfortable, warm (but not too warm) and stylish. I'll have to style it up into a casual look, as it's mostly going to be worn around the house.

Of course, with BOGO, I paid $39.95 for both this sweater and...

This houndstooth skirt. Which was done up wrong and hung on a regular coat hanger and was on a rack with a bunch of capes!
When I tried to figure out how this intriguing cape worked, I realized...this is a skirt!

I pulled it off the hanger, did up the three buckles properly, like so.
There's a hook inside, but that's how it goes on and off. It's not going to be a shopping skirt!

I discovered it was a wrap-around (hence them thinking it was a cape).
It felt wonderful - and yup, it's 80% wool, 20% nylon.
Whoa! And it's by Kate Spade!
"Skirt the Rules" - nice. This was marked at $19.95 (a bargain! it would have retailed for over $250!) but was FREE with my sweater. Let's call those each $19.95 for future Flashback purposes, since that's all I paid in total for both of them.

Flushed with our purchases, we took the recommendation of our earlier server, who'd suggested Fiamo (link here), a restaurant we had barely heard of.
It was a lovely ambience, and the food did not disappoint!
We enjoyed a three course meal (and took leftovers home!) then staggered home with all of our packages.

Vizzini was not amused at being left home all day without us.
"Guess who's getting you up at 5am tomorrow?"

We had a nap as we were both bone tired from our long day, then hung out and played board games into the evening.

Saturday - Sidney Shopping!

Just as we would have done in Vancouver, we were up early for another shopping adventure - this time, to the small seaside town of Sidney. It's about a 30 minute drive from downtown Victoria, and it's a mecca of thrift stores! I knew that I would not be able to try on most of my purchases so I just dressed in something simple.
Y'know, something low-key. *snort*

  • Jacket - Desigual; last worn here less than a week ago!
  • Blouse - L'Wren Scott, A Tropical Conversation, FW 2011, thrifted; last seen here in March 2020 with houndstooth and stripes
  • Leather pants - Free People, Portland, Oregon; last worn here in July 2020 with pops of red (Flashback on them there)
  • Shoes - Tudor Prysten, Fluevog; last worn here in March 2020 with tartan and velvet

I took advantage of the good weather to wear fabric shoes and also to squeeze in one more wearing of this magnificent coat before I pack it away.
I've been wanting to wear both the leather pants and the red ruffled blouse, as this is the one and only wearing of each of them this season. So many clothes...so little time!
We are going to have a small Flashback on this ruffled red blouse as it's a Real Designer Piece.
It's also nice and long and covers that crack-a-lackin' elastic back of the leather pants. They have a tendency to pull down when I bend or sit!

Masked up and hands in pockets. I'm ready to take on Sidney!
We drove Vlad the Vroomy Car - it was fun to take him out on the highway for the first time!

Full outerwear mode.
I always forget how cold Sidney is - it's right on the water, brrrr. I was glad to have my gloves.

Outerwear stuff:
My shiny gold leather purse for my reusable cloth shopping bags.

  • Purse - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
L and I both own these shoes - they were great for the day. We spent about 4 hours wandering up and down streets, hitting all of my favourite spots.

Minimal bling:
Again, not a lot of stuff when I shop. I took the brass ring off early, as it was snagging on my gloves.

  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Brass Brutalist ring - vintage 70s, vintage mall

At our first stop, I found a black top.
It has tabs of black sheer chiffon on the front. Above is before steaming...

...and here's the after steaming shot.
The fabric tabs are perma-wrinkled, but what a difference.

It's another Tangerine Jill piece.
The back of it is thick cotton jersey, with a zipper from hem to mid-back. Only $8.00!

In the next store (I can't remember what the names are of any of these places, sorry!), I did really well.
This wide woven leather belt came with me. I love the nice brass hardware.

It's by Antoniazzi, and is from Florence (Firenze), Italy, where it was made. It looks barely worn!
It's a little bit big on me, so it might just get passed along, but for $4.00 it was worth a risk.

I've been on the lookout for picture frames for the upcoming Redo The Walls project.
You so seldom see round or oval frames! That picture is not my style, but the frame is awesome. It was $8.00.

It's not wood, but is made of "Durwood" by John Walter & Sons Ltd.
I love that the original frame hang-tag is still there (note that the item number matches the hand-written one on the cardboard!), and the original price of $25.00 from Eaton's department store. I think this is from the 50s/60s.

I also picked up two slightly battered ship pictures in nice wooden gold-painted frames for $2.50 each.
The empty solid wood frame looks new - it was $2.00.

In the same store was a "boutique" rack near the door, where I found this bundle of awesomeness.
"Talking about me again?"

I love the bracelet-length sleeves (with ruffled edges) and the matching ruffle on the hem of the skirt.

That is a rich lime/celery green suede. We called it "Celadon" in 1999, when I worked at Fairweather, and I think that is probably around the right era for this suit.
It's by Danier, it's made in Canada.

Both pieces are around a size 8-10.
The suit - both pieces! - was only $35.00.

I'm not going to wait to show you how awesome it looks - remember, I didn't try this on!
Ack! A perfect fit! I can't wait to wear this properly styled!

L found a couple of things for himself.
A dancing lady tie for only $2.00. This is for parties only - it's not work appropriate!

Neither are these socks, but L loved them.
We're both fans of the classic pin-up girls.

After shopping, we had a late lunch at a pub on the water, then drove home, napped again and got up for our evening Happy Hour Zoom Call.

Flashback #1: L'Wren Scott "A Tropical Conversation" Blouse

I found this blouse here in January 2018, while having one of my usual browses through Flavour Upstairs. I'd skipped past it at least once on previous visits, since it had been marked down multiple times.
There are a total of 18 matching fabric-covered buttons down the front of it. The ruffles are accordion-pleated.
They are somewhat stiff, so you can frill them out dramatically if you like.

The sleeves are very long, and also have multiple buttons.
I usually flip the cuffs back once.

After some digging, I discovered that it was from L'Wren Scott's Fall/Winter 2011 collection here:
That's my blouse on the far right.

It's worn with a pink-ish snakeskin textured leather suit.
How cool to find a piece of L'Wren Scott from an actual collection! This shirt has the "A Tropical Conversation" tag still in it.
It started out at $14.99, then was marked down to $9.99, then I bought it for $7.99. I just now spotted another blouse from this same collection on eBay for over $280.00!

So, let's take a little stroll through all the ways I've worn it, starting here in January 2018.
I copied the pleat deployment and skewed "space" on my styling (including my Star Trek communicator pin). Blazer Flashback here.

Same boots worn here in March 2018.
I only wore this for a few hours, while I did one of my WW meetings (my members loved it).

It's the perfect match for this lovely vintage tulip skirt, worn here in January 2019.
Skirt Flashback here; shoe Flashback here

The shirt is all I have left from this November 2019 outfit.
I gave the sneeze-inducing angora dress to friend Jen, and the boots are in the giveaway pile.

With the mermaid skirt again in December 2019.
Note the extreme ruffle-work going on here. Boots Flashback here.

And here's the last time I wore it, just before we all went into lockdown in March 2020. Oh dear, I've just realized that with my new Kate Spade skirt, I'm going to have a Houndstooth Dilemma - I now have 3 houndstooth skirts!
Whatever shall I do. Heh. I need to wear this amazing stripey coat again soon - it deserves a Flashback, I think.

Mathy stuff: This makes 7 outfits with this ruffled red blouse, bringing us to $1.14 per wear. Awesome.

Saturday Night Zoom Happy Hour

I call this my "Lilies and Berries" dress, as it's impossible to find it on my blog without some sort of unique name.
I love it so much - I know a bunch of you are fans, hi, Shelley! - and wanted to get another wearing in of it.

  • Lilies and Berries dress - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in March 2020 as 'What I would have worn to Urbanite'
  • Shoes - Entrance Room 502, Fluevog; last worn here in October 2020 in a purple Goth look

I love the top-to-bottom pattern.
And it fits me perfectly.
Easy to sit in.
The Happy Hour flew by! Hopefully, we'll be able to see our friends in person soon.

The stuff:
I generally pack these shoes away for spring/summer as I prefer them with tights and my winter miniskirt collection.

Familiar bling:
My rings were still out from Friday's outfit.

  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Silver earrings - Brenda Schoenfeld, 1992, vintage mall

Sunday: Mom Visit

We both wanted to thank Mom in person for the Fluevog gift cards, so we got gussied up on Sunday and drove over to visit outside with her for a bit.
Did someone say colours? All the colours? Oh, right, that was me!

  • Blouse - Tahari, thrifted; last seen here in April 2020 with grays
  • Dress - Desigual, London 2010; last worn here in March 2020 with blue velvet boots
  • Shoes - Super Fine Eminence, Fluevog; purchased right here, above, for $269.99
  • Coat (below) - Tangerine Jill, thrifted; last seen here in September 2020

The pink silk stretch blouse is dangerously low-cut, but it's great when layered under this dress.
I've had this dress for 11 years this May, and we'll be having a massive Flashback on it - I've worn it a lot!

I liked how the shoes picked up the pinks in the mixed fabrics.
And the baby blue laces even worked with the baby blue in the dress.

Getting in and out of Vlad the Car was risky/risque!
I'm wearing nylons but that's still a short skirt when you're faced with bucket seats!

Outerwear - time to start digging into my spring coats!
This one is a favourite - I love the bright pink.

Masked up.
We spent about half an hour with Mom and then drove home again.

  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These were heavenly to wear - they are very comfortable. If that heel looks familiar, it's because I have this cracked gold pair in the same family.

Repeat bling:
It's just an excuse to look at those fuzzy pink toes again!

  • Rings/earrings - as above

We sat in Mom's open double-car garage on lawn chairs and chatted.
Mom framed her "Andy Warhol" cut-paper self-portrait that she did as an exercise for her art group. When she showed it to me on Zoom a few months ago, I demanded it.
Isn't it fun? I just love it.

Vizzini was not very impressed.
"I protest the complete lack of cat in this post, Woman. Also, not enough lap time."

This is true - we spent Sunday and Monday watching Netflix, TV and movies, and made up for our terrible lack of time with Vizzini. He's been very happy with us since then.

Flashback #2: Desigual Patchwork Dress

I love to buy clothes and jewelry on my travels, as it reminds me of where I've been far better than any cheap souvenir. I purchased this dress here in London in May 2010 for 169 pound/$259.00, at the Desigual store. I'd been looking at skirts, and hoping for a cool jacket, but once I set eyes on this dress it was mine.
Your eyes do not fool you - it is wonky in the shoulders and has never laid quite right.

All of these sections are different materials, fabrics and treatments. Some is brocade, some is suiting wool, some has been embroidered or silk-screened.
That bubbled section in the back has black beads in each circle. Note the embroidered parrot on the lower side.

The front's embroidery. Desigual can get a little sloppy with their embroidery, but in 2010 they were still producing really good quality garments.
This entire dress is lined in purple, by the way.

Look at all those buttons! Every one is different, and that's how you put the dress on, just with those buttons.
The orange strips are actually orange and hot pink florals.
I like the lime and pink zebras on the "back patch".

"I've got my eye on you!" I joke with my colleagues whenever I wear this to work.
So much great detail.

At one point - as you'll start to notice in the Flashback - I began adding buttons (mostly Fluevog ones, but not all) between the dress' actual buttons.
You can get a good look at some of these gorgeous woven fabrics in these pictures (most of the designs are woven, not printed).
It's all sewn together with zig-zag stitching.
The buttons felt like too much after a while, so I now have a de-buttoned dress.

But here we are, this is the first time I wore this dress, when we got home from our London/Paris trip in May 2010.
Front...

...and back.
This was a very "out there" dress for me 10+ years ago! I was actually nervous when I wore it - people would look at me!

Since I paid so much for it, I was determined to get as many wearings in of it as possible.
This was in June 2010 - I still have that yellow cuff, but our dear kitty Inigo has left us since then.

The dress inspires some dramatic poses!
This was in September 2010. I had those Tsubo shoes for so long!

These are the same pink tights I'm still wearing!
This was in November 2010. I wore those black boots to death!

This was the first time I tried layering something under it, in February 2011.
I'm wearing an orange gauzy scarf, a turquoise tee, and dark purple tights. So daring!

I wore this outfit to the Art Gallery for a funky fashion show with Elaine in June 2011.
A rare deck pose! Those shoes were so much fun, but they killed my feet. Caro has them!

Look how tiny Vizzini is here in September 2011! He is about 6 months old there.
One of many pairs of black kitten heels I have had over the years - I upgraded these to Fluevogs shortly after this.

Pink tights again in March 2012.
Vizzini got big fast! Those teal kitten heels were lovely, but eventually they fell apart.

I wore this for our anniversary weekend in Vancouver in March 2012.
This was my seaplane outfit, and traveling boots. I'm wearing really thick tights here.

Posing with my new Fluevog purchases in the hotel.
Showing off my lovely burgundy boots (Flashback here).

The first wearing of my wonderful aqua shoes.
It must be True Love: L bought me shoes he can't stand! Flashback here

I literally put a lampshade on my head for Megan's birthday in February 2013.
Hee! I should wear those shoes again one of these days.

With another pair of shoes L hates (but bought for me!) in July 2013.
I don't miss them - they're in the giveaway/sell pile.

I felt very bold, layering this white shirt under the dress in June 2014.
Cowboy boots Flashback here

This was the first time I layered my sheer underskirt with it - I liked how it extended the hem and made the dress feel less short.
Ah, my orange waxed shoes! They couldn't be salvaged (Flashback here).

Ah, there are my current black kitten heels (Flashback here).
I liked that underskirt. It works!

Some of my blogger friends will remember that I wore this to the big Blogger Meet-Up in Vancouver in July 2015 (link here).
This is what I wore for our first evening's dinner.

I did a repeat but with bare legs and the addition of my fascinator, which I bought that day at Granville Island.
I wore this to dinner on the second night, where there were some different people.

Later that night (after drinks!), we hung out in Shawna's hotel room, and Melanie convinced me (it didn't take much) to pose on the bed.
I call this Pink Steel.

Saucy!
I'm fondling that brown wig a little too much.

Back to "normal" in December 2015.
Layering and adding loads of colours, as is my thing. Boots Flashback here

My favourite baby blue blouse got layered under it in September 2016.
Those shoes are also no longer with me (just too beat up).

Baby blue yet again here in March 2017.
That pair of black boots never quite worked out.

I pulled out all the stops here in June 2017. This is when I added all the buttons!
Shoe Flashback here

Cat, Elaine and I attended the Victoria Fluevog store grand opening, then went to Sidney for a day of thrift shopping.
Cat and I are standing right behind the red fire hydrant! We were in the Victoria Buzz!

This was my New Year's Eve outfit for December 2017/January 2018.
Pink tights and blue velvet boots. That was a wild evening!

I have added even more buttons here!
This was a hot week in August - I wore this to work!

I also wore this to work in March 2019 - I got the "claw" jewelry on our last anniversary trip to Vancouver that month.
And those would be 2019's anniversary shoes that L bought for me! I cleared off all the buttons for this outfit.

An easy work outfit that I also wore to Book Club in September 2019.
That's just a lace stretch top I'm wearing underneath; my Trout shoes are in Flashback here

And here is the last time I wore this dress, in March 2020.
Blue sheer tights, a blue sweater and blue velvet boots.

Mathy stuff: Today's outfit is the 28th look with this dress! Impressive! I'm now down to $9.25 per wear, which I am totally happy with.

Tuesday: Double Zoom and Double Outfit

Today, L went back to work, but Tuesday is my usual day off. I got up early-ish and got ready for my morning Zoom call.
Of course, I have to get in wearings of some of my new and new-to-me items!

  • Jacket - Yuppie Ladies, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased above for $39.99
  • Iron Maiden concert tee - Portland, Oregon; last worn here in September 2020 with my red leopard suit and acid wash
  • Goldenrod skirt - no label, vintage, thrifted; last seen here in March 2020 with floral cashmere
  • Boots - Woodland East End, Fluevog; purchased above for $399.00

It did not escape my notice how well my new vintage plaid jacket went with my new plaid Fluevogs!
I had to create an outfit that would work with both of them. Obviously yellow is an easy choice.
I've had this yellow wool skirt for a while, and should probably do a Flashback on it, but...next time. This post is getting long! I haven't worn it for a while, as it was fitting too tight on my comforted-by-chocolate pandemic body. I'm feeling pretty good now, but still working on it.
I didn't want to go the full vest-tie-Clueless look, so instead, I ran with the punk-inspired look and paired this with a band tee.
Iron Maiden! I don't wear this tee (or any tee) often on the blog, but I do sleep in it once every two weeks, so it's getting worn.

I had a Zoom chat with Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge and Nancy of Nancy's Fashion Style - a challenge with my Pacific time zone, Shelbee's NY time zone, and Nancy in the Netherlands, but we made it happen!
They appreciated my look, as did my mom, who I Zoomed with in the afternoon.

Since going back to work tomorrow sounds totally unappealing, I decided to just repeat this outfit tomorrow.
Will I belt the blazer? I think I might!

And add a red plaid scarf, red hat and orange gloves?
Totally!

Outerwear stuff:
I bought the scarf for L for Christmas but he hasn't worn it. Mine! Muahahahaaa!

  • Hat - vintage, thrifted, Vancouver
  • Mask - by Mom
  • Scarf - vintage, consignment
  • Leather gloves - consignement

The stuff:
I am in total love with these boots. They were very comfy just wearing around the house for hours, so I'm looking forward to wearing them again tomorrow!

Bigass bling:
The leather heart is on the jacket's lapel. Oops, I missed my belt!

  • Brooch - Smoking Lily
  • Chain wrap - local
  • Eeelskin bracelet - vintage 80s (mine, donated, found again, thrifted)
  • Earrings - 5th anniversary gift from L
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Belt (not shown) - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage, thrifted; purchased here for $13.00

Nancy, Shelbee and I taking pictures of each other.
Yes, I have an actual camera!
Out proper pose. Aw, so lovely to chat with you guys! Hugs! Let's do it again soon!

Well, there we have it, my friends. That was A Weekend, yes?
Me and L looking fine in our new 'Vogs! Thanks for being my partner in crime!

I'll be back on Friday, and will also be catching up with comments and all of your blogs (hopefully). I've missed you all too!

  1. Whoa!! That was quite the post! So many gorgeous clothes, but what I love the most was the lemon celadon suede Danier suit. Only you could a) find this, and b) have it fit perfectly without trying it on!!! Love it!!!

I can't wait to wear the celadon suit! I was so lucky!

  4. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! ❤️👏🏻👍🥂🍾
Your celebration vacation looks fabulous and your hauls of clothing and shoes rock the halls with zest! (A totally made up metaphor!) Those new Fluevog boots...ooo...I may have boot envy...looks like a wide toe area so no crunchy toes, and a perfect walking heel.
As for the suit, and the Desigual dress (love it when you enhance the vibes with colorful tops and tights!), and the pics of you and L, the visit with your Mom...perfecto!
Here’s to many more colorful, smiling, partnered anniversaries!

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thank you so much, Laurie! We had so much fun - it really felt like one of "our" vacations. Yes, the boots are very wide in the toes - I have tons of room in them. They also come in solid red and black (which I think are on sale!).

Glad you enjoyed all the goodies! Thanks so much - here's to many more anniversaries!

  6. I'll need to set aside time to look more thoroughly at all your finds and knew you would come back from vacation having had a tremendous haul. You would take Youtube by storm if you go that route. Much better than the sam eold, same old, Target, Old NAvy etc. auls.

  7. Happy anniversary! Love all the new Fleuvogs, especially the plaid boots! The outfit you made with them is killer. One day I will make it to a Fleuvog store in person, they are just so not convenient to me in Utah.

  8. Wow, where to start? Well, obviously by admitting that yes, I've missed you, and by wishing you and L. Happy Anniversary! You are obviously not just soul mates but the most groovy couple ever as well! And what better way to celebrate than by going on a good old splurge/shopping trip. Those Fluevogs really are amazing, and I'm head over heels with the maxi skirt. Also, my first thought upon seeing the plaid blazer was how well it would work with your new Fluevog boots. Et voilà, you've already been wearing them together! How funny that they thought the houndstooth skirt was a cape! The lime green suit is such a great find as well.
As for your outfits, I'm absolutely loving the loopy dress one, the Desigual dress with the pink blouse and the yellow, blue and plaid one very much indeed. And it's always a delight to see your 1970s Lilies & Berries dress, which is one of my favourites of yours! xxx

    1. I actually missed all of you, but I put myself on a blog break to really get that relaxation (you know how it is). Thank you so much, Ann! We had so much fun shopping and walking around (drinks to keep L going). You know I thought of you when I saw that skirt!! I was stunned to find a matching blazer for the boots not even a few minutes later, right across the street! How lucky! Speaking of, I totally lucked out on both the houndstooth "cape" and the lime suit! Wow.

Thank you - I loved wearing all of them.

I don't know what to comment on first Sheila - there are so many great outfits here although I think that the Desigual dress and your new shoes is my favourite as I just love the cheerful combination! And you got a lot of great finds, sounds like a wonderful way to spend an anniversary weekend even though you couldn't travel far. And that suit is such a fantastic find! Happy anniversary!

  11. What a marvelous weekend! I'm glad you had such a fabulous time. And so many great finds. Your new Fluevog shoes are just divine as is that plaid blazer. I got a chuckle out of your "hound's-tooth skirt" dilemma as I found myself in a similar situation when I bought another leopard skirt forgetting I already had three others. How lucky of you to have chatted with Nancy and Michelle; they're two of my favorite bloggers.

Anniversary weekend sounds like a delightful idea, so wonderful you enjoyed it so much. Lovely photos and fleshback. So many great outfits. The statement dress looks great in all 28th outfits (so many great wears) and I just love the outfit with the yellow skirt and Iron Maiden tee paired with a plaid blazer and scarf.

  13. What a fabulous anniversary weekend, Sheila! You and L truly are the coolest couple ever! I cannot get enough of your fabulous style. And I really love the way you celebrate anniversaries! My husband is NOT a shopper so I would never get him on board with a shopping weekend, but I could convince him to let me go shopping for a weekend alone. Maybe in BC one day! Haha. I am loving everything in this big ass post, but mostly loved our Zoom call! I had fun peeking inside your closet, too! Let's definitely do it again!

So much fabulousness! I love your new Fluevogs and you found some amazing items on your thrift shopping expedition. The celadon suit is my absolute favourite - a brilliant find. Loved the cable sweater and the fab maxi. L did so well too - his Fluevogs are my favourite; I'd wear those for sure! I also love your Desigual coat and that amazing dress.

Such enjoyable flashbacks and it certainly was a wow of a weekend. Hopefully, next year you'll be able to go to Vancouver again. Fingers xxxed...

  16. What a whoppper of a post!
Firstly, many congratulations on your anniversary! Here's to the next 24!
You DID have a merry time- lovely food, AMAZING Fluevog choices, gorgeous clothing purchases!
I love the shoes (and also love that you an L have matching flamboyant Fluevog shoes!)
You got some corkers in the clothing stakes but I've just remembered....the Tangerine Jill loopy dress- isn't that SENSATIONAL! It's totally wonderful and looks like you have crafted wires attached to you- so pretty and clever and a bit of an illusion as you look at it!
I LOVE your Mum's Andy Warhol (Mummy Sheila-hol) cut out piece and not surprised you demanded it! So clever!

I did find some great stuff. Thanks so much re: the loopy dress!

I do too! I just wanted it as soon as I saw it - it's such a cool piece.

  17. Happy Anniversay to a fabulously cool couple! I've just realised it's our 29th Never-Had-A-Wedding anniversary next week - it'll probably be spent litter-picking! xxx
I'm delighted that you had a fabulous time and didn't let the restrictions cramp your style.
I love all of your shoe choices especially L's Presley boots - hooray for a clever zip, too!
I knew that Tangerine Jill dress would look fab on you and it does, the pink tights are perfect.
The vintage maxi skirt is a dream, I love a front buttoning skirt and the 1980s blazer couldn't be a better match with the new Fluevogs.
Your Mum's art is fantastic, of course it needed to be yours!

Wait till you see the maxi on! It's awesome. I'm really happy with the 80s blazer too. Isn't Mom talented? And she made that in just a couple of hours!

  18. Happy anniversary to the both of you.
What a lovely surprise your mother gave you with the gift cards waiting for you. Indeed very sweet.
Both L and your shoes are stunning, but your pink ones took my breath away. Very daring and very beautiful. I would keep the blue laces, I think they are great with the shoes. Thank you for putting them on straight away in this post. They are soooo good.
And you bought the blue boots as well! My God you had a lot of gift cards. I immediately spotted that you would wear the blue boots with your vintage wool blazer. Perfect combination. I had no idea how they would look on your leg, but they are awesome. These Fluevog shoes are expensive. I love how you buy (nearly) everything second-hand, but really spend serious money on your shoes. Which is a good thing as shoes make or break an outfit.
Your outfit to Sidney...low key... hahaha. Gorgeous shoes and jacket.
You two bought a lot and it must have been a really nice anniversary. See, you are jealous of me having friends in my house, I am jealous of you with restaurants open.
The Danier suit (I haven't seen it, but oh my God, how fantastic).

Yup, they are expensive (thank goodness for gift cards!), but I'd rather spend more on good quality, fun and stylish shoes - they do elevate most outfits!

Heh, glad you enjoyed that. We had a great anniversary, for sure.

I'll be wearing that suit soon, after I do my closet swap-over. Thanks so much for the massive comment, my dear friend!

Looks like you two managed to celebrate your anniversary in style even without your annual trip to Vancouver. I knew there would be Fluevogs involved :) Here's to 24 more fun-filled years.

    That Danier Suit!!! SQUEEEEE!

  20. Happy Anniversary!! Woww, such a magnificent post!, lots of fabulousness!. Glad that you enjoyed a fantastic celebration!.
Love your loopy dress with the Pink tights and cute shoes (these ones are some favourites of mine!). You rock accessorizing and yeti jacket!
And I'm admiring EveryThing you shopped, and feeling overwhelmed by so much fabulousness!, these Fluevogs are gorgeous, each one being better and better! (the blue boots are my fav ones!). Love particularly the red cabled sweater/cardi and obviously the limegreen suede suit!, wowwww. And L. purchased some stunning pieces too!, I'm telling Mr.A. to have a look at these shirts!.
I've always admired your red ruffled shirt and it's lovely to see a flashback on this gorgeous piece!, loving particularly the last outfit with the striped coat!.
Your floral dress totally rocks! (also a fan of it myself!). And purple boots!.
And obviously loving your desigual dress with these new Fluevogs, wowww they match so Fabulously!. It's delightful to see this dress in multiple outfits, lots of fab layering and fab shoes (particularly those that L. hates are my favourites! mwhaha).
Another wowww for the next outfit!, loving your new plaid jacket and new shoes in this ensemble, loving the matchiness and loving the way this band t-shirt makes a difference!
Once more, I have to say this is a Magnificent Post! and I'm sorry that I'm so damn late!

    1. Wow, thanks for the huge comment, Monica! I'm honoured!

We had a blast, so much fun hanging out together. I loved getting in a wearing of the loopy dress (and of course the Yeti!). I'm glad you liked the Fluevogs. The red cardi is being worn almost daily, but I'm so excited about the green suit. L has a good eye for shirts!

Thank you - I love that shirt too, as it's so interesting. I'm happy to sneak in a wearing of that floral dress (and the purple shoes), as it's likely they'll both be packed away for the season soon.

I loved how well the new 'Vogs went with the Desigual dress. Heh, L is very limited in his shoe preferences. I loved how nicely the new boots went with the new plaid jacket too. Thank you again for the lovely comment!
