Half-Day in Blue, Black, Grey and White Stripes

Due to an appointment at 7 in the MORNING (who makes appointments that early??), I took a half-day off work and didn't go in until the afternoon. It felt luxurious!
The office didn't miss me too much, thank goodness.

  • Striped vest - Theory, thrifted; last seen here in August 2023 with paisley and lime
  • Blouse - Madam Q, thrifted; last worn here in September 2023 with floral linen
  • Skirt - Sportmax, consignment; purchased here for $27.00
  • Shoes - Gadea, consignment; last seen here with a cream cocoon in October 2023
  • Suede coat (below) - Tadmor, vintage 60s, vintage mall; last worn here in November 2023

I remembered I had more new-to-me clothes that haven't been worn yet.
Today's 'fit was built around this black, blue, grey and white striped skirt that I picked up just before the new year.

I did a formula for the top half, layering my black satin shirt under this striped knit vest.
I've worn these two pieces together previously, here.

More stripes in the skirt.
It's not a full maxi skirt - more of a midi, i.e. mid-calf - and it's the perfect length for not rolling into my office chair and not stepping on when I go upstairs.

Outerwear. I loved how the skirt looked with this suede coat.
I got soaked both ways walking to and from work - we're in for a cold, rainy spell, possibly some of the S-word*.

*that would be snow - don't say it too loud!

Accoutrements:
This hat stays on my head very securely, even in gusty winds.

  • Hat - Edward Mann, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Silk scarf -  Halston, vintage 90s, consignment
  • Gloves - Lord & Taylor, thrifted

And it was very gusty.

The stuff:
Comfy metallic navy blue shoes.

Blue bling:
No bracelets needed with my long sleeves.

  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Necklace - Stella & Dot, thrifted
  • Earrings - Glee, local
How was your Monday?

  1. Hi Sheila
I really like the colours that you have combined in this outfit. I've been trying to understand colour more in recent years (even to the extent of getting a colour wheel and a mini pack of colour cards) and have learned alot about what colours work together from your outfits. I love that you are so adventurous in your pairings. It's very inspiring! Sandra (from Victoria, Aust)

  2. I really like this skirt on you! I've been loving midi skirts lately although they do tend to look a bit maxi on me, not quite proper midi length! But I've added a couple to my wardrobe (thrifted and one I got from my mum for Christmas) so I've been enjoying wearing them a lot lately!

  3. I always feel weird going into the office in the afternoon only :-)
Anyway, loving all the stripes going on in your outfit, and yes, that skirt is the perfect length for sitting and rolling around on office chairs!
That suede coat is once again one of my favourites of yours.
We had some of the "S-word" yesterday as well, but today is bright, and freezing cold! xxx

  4. Loving the tank top with the skirt and the suede coat is always a joy to behold.
Our boiler servicing man came at 7am yesterday, it didn't bother me as I was already up but Jon's still moaning about it today! xxx
