Black Satin, Floral Linen and Rita 10th Anniversary

This week's outfits are all going to be built around a theme - covering my left wrist, which has a non-removeable Rifflandia wristband on it. Expect lots of long sleeves!
Twist my rubber arm to wear this gorgeous black satin shirt again.

  • Satin shirt - Madam Q, consignment; last seen here in June under a sweater vest
  • Linen skirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last worn here in May
  • Shoes - Garden of Enjoyment Rita, Fluevog; last seen here in August 2022 with retro Etro
  • Leather blazer (below) - Danier Leather, vintage 80s, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) for Easter at Mom's

As I'm in my last month of my spring/summer closet, I'm doing a few re-wears of the things that really ring my bell.
In this ensemble, it's this gorgeous floral linen skirt. Pockets!

It has side slits, which I love - they've become not-the-norm in fashion.
Speaking of unusual things, I'm sneaking in my annual wearing of these amazing blue shoes.

They have a curved heel, with a strap that goes around it.
They're the Garden of Enjoyment Ritas, the only Fluevogs I've ever bought sight-unseen - and this year, they hit their 10th anniversary.

Incognito.
I liked how the boxy jacket worked with the pencil skirt. More pockets!

The stuff:
I did a very early version of one of my Flashbacks on these shoes here in May 2020, at the start of the pandemic - I've worn them several times since then, and I'm at 18 wears.

Blue bling:
Real 70s Halston!

  • Silk scarf - Halston, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Belt - Danier Leather
  • Pendant - Miracle Britain, consignment
  • Kyanite/silver ring - consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver balls ring - Sidney
  • Earrings - local

Happy Anniversary, Ritas! This is from my unboxing in July 2013 (more pics here).
They look stupendously high, but that's actually a really comfortable height. I did a couple of sets of stairs today, but I didn't wear them when I ran an errand of a few blocks. I have danced all night in them, though, many years ago!

I'm feeling nostalgic, so here's 45-year-old me wearing them for the first time here also in July 2013, in my Spanish Ladies dress, which is yet to be worn this season.
I'm wearing the same belt and lapis lazuli ring as I did today - I actually still have everything from this outfit: dress, shoes, belt, camisole, cuff, rings and earrings.

  1. Those shoes are stunners, apart from being gorgeous they make your legs look about five feet long! Loving the 1980s vibe of the skirt and I'm curious about the wristband, it sounds a lot more interesting than our woven festival wristbands that we snip off as soon as we're home!
Your flashback dress has just reminded me of a Day of the Dead print dress I bought recently, that's also from a shop in Camden, I must dig it out and photograph it! xxx

    1. Yup, that's why I fell in love with them - they are so different!

Thanks so much - no, the wristband is not interesting at all, probably just like what you wear!

Oh, nice - I love Day of the Dead iconography!

  2. 3 inch heels! Yet glorious in color, style (because they are - to me - unusual) and how they flatter the legs. I have a pair of 3 inch lovelies. No longer wear them but they will remain in my closet for ever!

Nice skirt and, from your stair picture, it looks lined. I appreciate dresses and skirts that come lined, usually makes things easier - either no slip needed or it provides extra warmth.

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. They feel very comfortable, although I won't be walking anywhere in them! You should put your 3" heels up on display, Laurie!

Yes, the linen skirt is full-lined, and has generous pockets too! Lack of lining is often a deal-breaker for me.

  4. Congratulations to the amazing Ritas!
And ah, I'm loving that skirt. I'm not surprised you wanted to wear it one more time before being packed away. Perfect pairing with the black satin shirt and yellow leather blazer! I immediately spotted your Miracle pendant, by the way!
Intrigued about the non-removable wrist band ... xxx

    1. Not bad for such a distinctive pair of shoes, eh, Ann? I love the skirt - the bold pattern and colours are so pretty. Nothing special about the wristband at all.

I love how you styled this look.
