Pleated and Plaided, and a Snow Day!

The snow arrived today! My view of the Castle as I headed to work. A little snow never stops me!

Eerie blue light...

  • Vest - Maison Scotch, Bohemian Chique, 2010, thrifted; last seen here in March 2023 in a triple pinstriped ensemble
  • Shirt - Abbie Mags, thrifted; last worn here in November 2022 in a quad of plaids
  • Skirt - Megan Salmon Somersault Sculpted Pleat Skirt, Fountainhead collection, Winter 2020, thrifted; purchased here for $11.95
  • Boots - Powerhouse Jyoti, Fluevog; first seen here a week ago with red roses and ruffles
  • Coat (below) - Stormtech, thrifted; last seen here on the weekend

I indulged the Cowgirl/Pirate side of my style today to showcase this fabulous new-to-me skirt.
Some plaided business, a vest, bold jewels and the skirt, plus red booties again.

I loved wearing the skirt - I'm looking forward to playing around with it in future outfits.
All that loose ruching is so nice - it gives volume without being too full.

The horizontal pleated section is what creates all those drapey folds.
And a swooshy vertical part on the other side! Be still, my heart.

I was photobombed in my outerwear shot today.
"Why is it still cold? Why haven't you fixed this?"

I went with my bright chartreuse puffer for warmth and waterproofedness. My skirt was wet by the time I got to work, but dried quickly as it's mostly wool.

I can't resist grabbing Vizzini for a quick cuddle. Hello, you, be a good boy while I'm at work.
"This scarf needs a good licking."

He always tries to groom my fur pieces - they have to be stored away from him.

Accoutrements:
I needed these warm pieces - it's still snowing as I type.

  • Hat - M&S, consignment, Powell River
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Aldo, thrifted

The stuff:
How could I not wear my red booties again? They are softening up (more creases) and were good for the day, although I did change into my Docs to go up and down ladders and do a bunch of other physical stuff in the afternoon.

Bold bling:
For the debut of this ginormous statement necklace, I layered it under my shirt collar.

  • Necklace - Heidi Daus, thrifted; purchased here for $58.95
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Fulvia ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower

I do wish I'd worn a swanky belt with this outfit, now that I see the pictures. More piratical swag!

I took these pictures from my office and my colleague sent me back a collage.
As I usually whenever it snows, I gave every intrepid person who was in the office a banner that said, "Snow Day? No way! I made it in on January 17, 2024."

  1. I spent 4 hours of quality time with my snowblower. Road never did get plowed though.

  2. The castle in the snow looks like a dark fairy tale - straight out of a Tim Burton film!
The skirt, as anticipated, is an absolute stunner. I love how you've styled it! Funnily enough, I spotted a cute little Victorian jacket (so rare) in a vintage shop recently, which would also work a treat with that ruching. Sadly it's a little too battered, so there is remained.
    Stay warm!

  3. Love that skirt. I would love to get that pattern and do it out of jean scraps. How cute would that be.

  4. Morning! The snow collage makes me pine for a collage of the many skies you’ve photographed over the castle! I think it would be quite enjoyable to work at your company, as long as you are there. You are an instigator of FUN! That can make all the difference in how someone moves through their day.
    Cheers, Laurie

  5. Your view of the castle is very atmospheric, and I'm loving the collage of pictures your colleague made of your view from the office windows. We did have some snow this week as well, but the area around Antwerp seems to have escaped the worst.
That skirt looks every bit as fabulous on you as I thought it would and I think the plaid blouse and Maison Scotch dress were absolutely perfect with it.
Swooning over your red booties, and yes, you were spot on: they would have looked fantastic with my plaid dress :-) xxx

  6. Doesn't the castle look magical?
Your skirt looks so good on, just like I thought it would. The boots are fabulous, I love them. I've always wondered why our pals from over the Pond call tartan "plaid" and where the word originated from, according to my vintage fashion course, in traditional Highland dress plaid is a length of tartan cloth traditionally draped over the shoulder - now I know!
Love that photo of you snuggling Vizzini! xxx

  9. Great red accents. Love the boots and the red shirt. Fabulous vest and skirt. I like how you opted for a vivid puffer. Seeing colour always makes me happy.
I like the collage a lot. The snowy landscape is so pretty!
