Cocoon Dress and Wearing the Blues

Today, my fuzzy dress saved me - I had tech issues at work all day, and got more and more frustrated as the day went on.
This cocoon is made of a thick, almost plush fabric - when I stroke it, it feels like fur, very soothing.

  • Mesh top - Jean Paul Gaultier, vintage 90s, consignment; last worn here in February under a leather dress
  • Dress - Magic Yous, consignment; first seen here in February with limbs of leopard
  • Shoes - Gadea, consignment; last worn here in March with a bunch of squares
  • Leather jacket (below) - Elizabeth and James, consignment; last seen here in September

I also made an effort to connect with some of my colleagues in the office - I chatted music and concerts with Greg and clothes with Zeudy.
A little bit of interaction is always a good thing.

I loved wearing this dress again, and deliberately chose to wear it on a day when L won't see it, as he hates it, ha ha.
It's not the most flattering thing I own, but not everything has to be.

I felt comforted and funky.
And that's what counts.

Outerwear and incognito. If I'm feeling blue I may as well wear the blues!
I felt very clever that I'd actually read my post from the first time I wore this dress and noted that it causes Velvet Rage with long coats. Ha! A short coat will foil you, Velvet Rage! The skirt portion rode up on my tights a little bit, but it wasn't annoying.

Accoutrements:
A hat in case of rain - missed it, fortunately.

  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Hat - Delux, Saanich Fair, c. 2009
  • Silk scarf - Andre Courreges, consignment

The stuff:
Yay, I'm happy to have these shiny navy blue shoes back in my closet.

Matchy bling:
I started with the necklace, then the earrings, and it all fell into place from there.

  • Necklace - All Saints, gift from Dominique
  • Leather/metal cuff - thrifted
  • Crystal/silver ring - Soul Flower
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Earrings - thrifted, Seattle; purchased here for $14.00 US

Vizzini was lurking around in the morning while I did my pics, so I grabbed him for a bit of "purr therapy."
"I might have to start charging you for this."

Silly boy!

  2. Ah ha, going beyond the comfort of a jammy dress to cocoon in comfort. This is like being able to take your favorite blanket to work with you, but it’s much more acceptable than the blanket would likely be! And spiffy shoes, by the way.

Yuck on the tech issues so hopefully all was sorted out by day’s end.
    Cheers, Laurie

  4. No L., you're wrong: that fuzzy dress is absolutely fabulous! And it's absolutely perfect for cocooning too! Particularly in case of tech issues, which I hate with a vengeance. Swooning over that Courrèges scarf and that gorgeous blue leather jacket by the way! xxx

  5. A soft jammy dress that can help keep you clam in the face of tech issues is a very good piece to have in your wardrobe - even if L is not a fan! I like how you layered this (particularly with that blue jacket) and I hope that the tech issues are resolved.
