Roses, Ruffles and Red Booties

I planned today's outfit around the boots, so that I could show them off to the VPs at work who so generously gifted me a Fluevog gift card for Christmas. Mom, you also helped pay for these - thank you!
I tried to make them the star, but I have a lot of icing my closet!

  • Blouse - Nanette Lepore, thrifted; last worn here in June 2023 with threadpainted roses
  • Skirt - Richard Quinn X Debenhams, consignment; last seen here in July 2023 with sunset colours
  • Booties - Powerhouse Jyoti, Fluevog; purchased here with gift cards for $329.99
  • Coat (below) - Mallia, consignment; last worn here in December 2023

I thought the white blouse was very restrained, hee hee.
I like the small ruffles at neck and cuffs, and it has a thin pair of tassels on long strings that loop together on the front - very hard to see here.

The skirt is neoprene - colleague Jessica asked to touch it. "Ooh, spongy!" she said.
I love the painty rose print - the designer, Richard Quinn, is known for his bold style (have a peek here at Vogue's runways, link 'cause I love). This is from his 2019 collaboration with Debenhams, a UK department store.

Outerwear. We are having major storms right now, with massive winds, power outages, boatloads of rain.
This coat is made of baby alpaca wool - it's warm, light and dries fast!

I tucked my hair up into my beret to avoid the downpour in the morning.
And wrapped the boa around my neck more times on the way home due to the heavy gusts of wind.

Accoutrements:
Pink for visibility in the gloom - plus, duh, PINK.

  • Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Fur boa - Danier, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
The VPs were suitably impressed by my new tomato-red booties, and I showed them off to anyone who was interested - I've missed my daily in-person fashion interactions with coworkers for the past nearly four years.

Copper bling:
I love giving the belt a big knock. Yep, that's solid copper.

  • Copper belt - Renoir, vintage 50s, vintage fair
  • Copper "8s" bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, Seattle, gift from L
  • Copper "beans" bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, vintage fair
  • Copper ball ring - consignment
  • Shiny copper ring - Glee, local
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Copper necklace - vintage 50s, Seattle, gift from L; first seen here
  • Copper earrings - vintage expo

Stay cozy, my friends!

  1. I don't envy you your storms, I'll make do with the cold but sunny weather we're having at the moment :-)
Your new Fluevog boots are fabulous, but might be a bit upstaged by your neoprene skirt. Swooning over your copper bling! xxx

  3. The copper necklace and earrings are fabulous, as are the red boots. They are just the right ankle height and I foresee them making multiple appearances in the future because red boots that pop but don’t hog are the perfect accompaniment to a range of colors and outfits.

Here’s to rain instead of snow :)

    Cheers, Laurie

  4. Those storms sound the ones battering the UK a few days ago - stay safe!
Those boots look tremendous. Designers for Debenhams was a brilliant range, such a shame Debenhams went bust a few years ago. xxx

  7. So much to love here. Your boots of course. You got a Fluevog giftcart from your bosses at work? Or do I interpret "VP" wrongly?
The skirt is a winner and your bum in it is ever so sexy. I bet a lot of men would have to sit on their hands to restrain their urge to touch it haha.
And your coat is a dream.
