Mustard Dragonscale

I'm on a roll - another autumnal-coloured ensemble today! I put this outfit together on the weekend, and it's what caught my eye last night.
It wasn't quite as cold today (a mere 1 degree was our high) and snow is on the way. I needed layers!

  • Blouse - J. Crew, thrifted; last worn here in October 2023 with brocade pants
  • Turtleneck - Wanko, thrifted; last seen here in December 2023 with chartreuse and denim
  • Skirt - Strawberry Jill, thrifted; last worn here in October 2022 with yellow
  • Boots - Clarks; last seen here (2nd outfit) in March 2023 with my urban camo dress
  • Coat (below) - Mallia, consignment; last worn here a week ago

I've layered a wool-blend sweater underneath this billowy mustard blouse.
The star of the outfit is of course my Dragonscale Skirt.

It's made of circles of edged raw silk that are overlapped and sewn together - there are no seams aside from the side zip.
I did a front-tuck with the blouse to show the belt (a trick I picked up from Greetje here, all links 'cause I love).

I like the relaxed vibe.
My colleagues cooed over my outfit - some of them remembered the skirt from before the pandemic.

Outerwear - yay, a different coat!
This is one of my warmer ones, a blend of baby alpaca and cashmere.

I was still cold.
Walk faster!

Accoutrements:
My fur hat is vintage, bought at a pop-up fair. I miss vintage fairs! There have been a few attempts but nothing like we used to enjoy on a quarterly basis.

  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Fur hat - Import Salon Eaton's, vintage 50s, vintage fair
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The hat just sits there, but the weight of it keeps it secure on my head. It's not quite of Vix proportions (here) - I would love to find a ginormous poufy hat like hers!

The stuff:
These are the boots I would have worn yesterday. Today, I used my backpack and carried them in a tote. They feel a little high, but they're fine in the office.

Amber bling:
The necklace is cut glass or crystal, not amber, but it is 100 years old!

  • Necklace - vintage 1920s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Silver/amber earrings - vintage 1920s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Brass Brutalist rings - both vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Snake belt - Notes du Nord, thrifted

I love these earrings - they're quite light.

  1. Such a attractive print! A bit psychedelic, love that. It's freezing cold here and snowy. So they're is no way I'm wearing skirts or dresses now when i have to go out. Hate that.

    1. It's not a print, Nancy - those are individual pieces of fabric sewn together. Prints are...printed! :)

  2. That skirt always puts a massive smile on my face, it's so cool! Love the boots & the snake belt, too. I'm praying to the goddess of secondhand finds to send a massive sheepskin hat your way!
Good news about the temperatures warming up a bit, hope that snow doesn't stick around for long! xxx

  3. At a quick glance it looks like you are wearing a V-neck sweater and a necktie! Wasn’t sure about the color or style of the top when you first shared it, but in this outfit it looks just right.i quite like the skirt and your jewelry. Wow, a 100 year old necklace! If only inanimate objects could tell us their history…
Cheers on this cold sunny NY morning, Laurie

  4. Ooh, how lovely to see your fabulous Dragonscale Skirt again! Surely it has been far too long since it last made it to the blog? I'm not at all surprised some of your colleagues remembered it from the Before Times! The boots are gorgeous too. I tried on a similar pair during lunch break which was going for a song. Alas, my legs aren't skinny enough to fit into them :-( xxx
