Gah, Tuesdays after long weekends suck. No motivation, other than to get to the next weekend.
I had to wear my other new-to-me purchased item: the leopard ruched top. Too bad you can't see much of it here, but I'll wear it again without a jacket at some point, I'm sure.
I purchased the top here
on the weekend for $9.99. It's by Express (I think I forgot to mention that) - I don't know what store sells that brand, but I've had a few things by them that I've quite liked. The construction on this top is excellent for an inexpensive piece.
The jacket was actually salvaged from the giveaway pile in my library this morning (not much outfit planning going on). I love the great cut of it, and the fine wool. I guess I was bored with the boringness of it. It's just a brown blazer...but I should hang onto it until I find a worthy successor, at least!
Ah, I found out why I purged it: I haven't worn it in over a year! Last time here
in April 2013 (with me as a blonde).
|I liked the finished bottom of the top hanging down in a band like this. |
My lovely cerulean blue skirt makes another appearance with its bestie belt - so matchy! I last wore the skirt here
in April with red and black loopy-lace.
My essential basic bronze-y faux snakeskin-y pumps were last seen here
in April with turquoise and magenta.
I nearly forgot about this brooch - I've had it for about 6 years (picked it up cheap at Plum, I think). It's been pinned to one of my hats for several years. Why one should always remove decorations from one's accessories...
Jacket (Tahari, Arthur S. Levine, thrifted), top (Express, thrifted), skirt (no label, handmade, thrifted), shoes (Ralph Lauren, thrifted), belt (Danier), brooch (Plum), lapis lazuli/Fulvia Ring (Wendy Brandes).
The way you are wearing the shirt makes it look peplum-y in the back! I like it. Love the color combinations as well.ReplyDelete
That brooch is gorgeous! And I love the combination of blue and leopard. This outfit looks so classy, but with a twist!ReplyDelete
Hi, Sheila. I've been reading your blog for a couple of years now, and I love a lot of your clothes. I'm lazy about commenting, but I thought I'd answer your question about Express. It's a chain here in the U.S., in most malls, sometimes free-standing. I love the bright blue with the brown in this outfit.ReplyDelete
I don't think I've ever tried leopard with blue, but I really love it! Express brand is sold only at Express stores here in the US. It's a mall chain. I've gotten a lot of work basics there because they do hold up nicely.ReplyDelete
Great outfit! Express is an American store found in most malls. Cute, reasonably priced clothes...ReplyDelete
The blue and brown look lovely together! :)ReplyDelete
Glad you pulled the blazer out of the giveaway pile to give it another wear, it works well with this outfit :) I've been using my blog more to see how often I really wear things - it's quite eye opening! :) I only have 2 years worth of posts, but it's still helpful to me.
I really love the contrast of the leopard with that skirt. Actually cerulean is my favorite color, so I'm partial to anything in that bright, vibrant blue tone. You look glamorous.ReplyDelete
I've been a lurker on your blog for awhile. We have such different styles, but I have to say I absolutely love your blog and your style. I've read every single post and am amazed at the outfits you put together.ReplyDelete
PS. Express is a chain store in the US that has slowly made its way to Canada.
The leopard print works so well with the bright blue, very chic, and as always, I love the perfect fit of that skirt! xxxReplyDelete
Gorgeous contrast, Sheila, your new top looks fab with vivid blue. I have pulled things from my donate pile too, then they get worn constantly! Go figure. xoxReplyDelete
Yes, Tuesday after a long weekend is hard! I am sure I'll be in the same boat next Tuesday - especially because then it's only a few more days until I go on vacation!ReplyDelete
I've never thought of putting leopard with blue - it looks great together!!
Almost given away jacket and long lost brooch are great items in this look.ReplyDelete
Wow Sheila, cerulean gorgeousness - you look so good. The leopard top is beautiful.ReplyDelete
