Queen of Faeries and Mushroom

Yay, Friday! I actually thought about my outfit today - I've been wanting to wear this skirt since I unpacked it at the end of March. And it took me till May!
Fresh red hair!
I loved this look, and this skirt was fun most of the time - it gets a little trip-y if you're bending over, and you have to hold it up in a bunch when going up and down stairs, and it wants to roll under one's chair...

I've had the top for a few years - I bought it on consignment at My Sister's Closet (here in 2010, with good detail shots). I've worn it many times and just love the wonderful detail of it. I've seen the same design but in a much poorer, cheap quality by Dex, and based on the construction, I'm inclined to believe that this is the original that Dex knocked off. No label, unfortunately. I last wore it here (last outfit) in September 2013.
The skirt is a gift from Mom for my birthday a few years ago, via the magic of gift cards. It's machine wash, dry gentle and it comes out like a dream - it needs to be washable due to the light colour. It has lovely swoosh-appeal!
I am "Queen of Faeries"!
It was a very expensive ($99) Club Monaco skirt - Mom is so good to me. The mushroom colour is great with brights and pastels. I last wore it here (3rd outfit) in July 2013, a scandalously long time ago!

The stuff:
Every rose has its thorn - rose on the toe, thorns in the heel design? Sure, why not! I clomped around in these all day, quite fun. I last wore them here in September 2013 with dark florals.

Metal, leather and glass bling:
My magnet leaf-once-was-a-spoon bracelet, Mom's hippie necklace from the 60s and a second-hand spinner ring.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! I'm off to hang with L.

Blouse (no label, consignment), skirt (Club Monaco), shoes (Miz Mooz, consignment), choker (Mom's, vintage 60s), cuff (About Tine), ring (consignment).

  1. A new-ish coworker and I were discussing the fabulousness of maxi skirts, and how great they are for the hot days of summer when bare-legs are too cold for the air-conditioned office. I warned her how much our office chairs love to eat maxis. "So you're saying we'll have to suffer through with maxis only on weekends?" She said, and I said, "No, we just have to master the art of the "swoop the skirt THEN move". And then because we're both secretly 10 years old, we both whispered: "swoop the skirt" every time we went to roll our chairs for the rest of the day. Glad to know, though, that we're not the only ones having maxi skirt issues in the office. If you can persevere, we can too!

  2. Love that maxi skirt every time you wear it! :) Maxi skirts can be a little tricky with office chairs though, haha! The prettiness makes up for it :)

  5. That skirt is a dark horse- you wouldn't know what a great piece it is on first glance (well, you would!) but it's a quiet color that goes with so much. I love the shape of it on you. And those Rosebud shoes...gah. Awesome-sauce with a cherry on top.
