Casual Friday: Ripped and Mixed Studs

Happy Friday and a Happy Memorial Day weekend to my US friends! A very Happy Birthday to dear Bella of the Citizen Rosebud, too!
I built today's outfit around my awesome mixed-metal and leather pyramid stud belt. Of course, the top stole the show.

I'm linking up to Bella's "Secondhand First" today - every single thing in my outfit is either thrifted, consignment, or, if new, made in Canada or the US. Cool, eh?

It's my second wear of this amazingly well-constructed and sewn top. The HR lady who Knows Quality immediately recognized it as a very high-end piece despite its lack of a label. I last wore it here in April with all taupe-y neutrals.
I felt like a sheer Jedi in it - can you believe I thrifted this for $14.95? I have a black camisole with a bit of sparkly at the neckline on underneath.

The skirt is actually a really dark denim, and is super high-waisted.
I see my ink
I like the exposed zipper on the back of the skirt. I last wore it here in March with loads of sequins.

It was rainy this morning and generally gloomy most of the day, but it's now brightened up to blue sky and a light wind. I love spring in Victoria!
My bowler for the rain, and a light but warm coat for the wind.

Sadly, this is the last wear ever for this blouse.
I am so sad
I was reaching up to put the mugs away at work this morning and riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip. It totally tore open under my arm.
I consulted some of the sewers at work, and all agreed that due to the delicate fabric, this isn't repairable. Wah! So unhappy about that, but *sigh* it's just a thing. On the plus side, I'm donating the gorgeous fabric of the blouse to one of the sewers to use in her projects. At least this blouse won't go to waste.

The stuff:
My woven gold kitten heels have been in my wardrobe for years. They're so shiny and the light gold is such a good neutral. I've seen these in second-hand stores in silver as well (not in my size). I'd love to find those! I last wore them here (2nd outfit) in April with bright yellow.

Badass bling:
Holy samolies, I love this belt. I want to wear it more. I must try it over a dress. Isn't it a great match for my cuff?

Bowler (Andre), coat (I.N. Studio, thrifted), blouse (no label, thrifted), skirt (Nicole Miller, vintage, consignment), shoes (Aldo, consignment), belt (BCBG Max Azria, consignment), cuff (vintage), Death Star ring (Stone Roses), mixed media ring (Poly, thrifted).

  1. Oh no, such a shame that the top tore! :( It's good you know someone who can re-use the fabric though, so it doesn't go to waste :)

  2. Oh I am sad to see that rip in your blouse...I get so frustrated when my favourite garments are spent.
In a way it shoud be exciting because that means we need to replace them :-) more shopping!

  3. What a shame about that rip! It was gorgeous while it lasted. Your coat and hat have really bowled me over this time! Haha! Someone gave me a bowler hat once, sadly, it was too big. Yours looks great!

  4. I was all like, "GO, PERFECT TOP!" so the end was quite the shocker.

  5. I do love your coat and jacket. The top was fabulous while it lasted. The sleeves were lovely! I am envious of your ability to wear belts. I have no waist although sometimes can artificially create one with puffy clothes! ;-) Your belt is magnificent, and your ability to match all "the stuff" is mindblowing.

  6. Oh no! Sorry about the blouse. At least it'll go on to live as something else. Also LOVE your hat. I need more hats.

  7. Oh its so sad about that gorgeous top - it did look so elegant and well made, but like you say at least the fabric will be reused.
