Ah, Monday, the cruelest of days. This calls for colour and lots of it!
Another wear of my teal velvet jacket (last seen here over a patterned dress), but this time playing up the bits of turquoise in the embroidery on it with this vibrant turquoise pencil skirt. The skirt is by Cabri and I thrifted it for $7.00 back in March 2011. I first wore it with emerald green during my Fluevog A Day theme week here.
I also wore it in June 2011 (here, with grey and stripes), in Sept 2011 (2nd outfit here, hee hee, scroll down - Vizzini's in a cat sandwich), and the last time was at the end of last Sept here (with zigzags and black accents). I've had it stored away as "spring/summer" wear since.
I have a brown cami underneath. I will admit that I roasted in this when I was outside. It's a little cooler in the mornings, but it is still in the upper 20s/80s during the daytime. I love summer in Victoria!
I felt very visible, confident and bold in this outfit, so I'm linking up to Visible Monday over at Patti's "Not Dead Yet Style." Go check her out!
The stuff:
Sorry about the bad light - I went to boot camp after work and didn't get home till after 7pm. Sheila sore...
I last wore the shoes here, and wore this same bracelet of my Grandma J's.
The earrings were also hers (I remember her wearing them - they have wear patterns from touching her face). Both pieces are vintage copper (the earrings have enameling) by Renoir. The earrings also have a "Matisse" stamp on them.
Jacket (Ann and J Concepts, thrifted), cami (Esprit), skirt (Cabri, thrifted), shoes (Pink Studio), belt (Club Monaco), bracelet/earrings (Renoir, vintage 50s, Grandma J).
Sheila, I love your colour here! Great way to start the week. Good job on the boot camp. I'm aching all over from major spring cleaning (so I'm a little slow...).
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit! I like the blues together. Great idea to wear bright colours on a Monday! :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Sheila! These colours are particularly fabulous on you. I'd be roasting in velvet too, but am really looking forward to it! The colour and your grandma's jewelry are just the things to brighten a Monday - I love that detail about the earrings.
ReplyDeleteThis look is so gorgeous, Sheila - I love the skinny belt accenting your little waist, and then bookmarked with those fab shoes. No wonder you feel bold and confident today! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, you rock and you rule. xxx
ReplyDeleteAh--TEAL!!! How I love the color and that jacket is just stunning!! I like it paired with the aqua and copper!
ReplyDeleteLove these colors! Definitely a good choice to chase the Monday blues away!
ReplyDeleteTeal is an excellent color for ginger heads. You look beautiful, and really scored with the $7 pencil skirt. I love wearing anything that belonged to my grandmothers; they were my second moms.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty colors- nice combo very good choice !
ReplyDeleteAriane
You always look so elegant in that pose. Fab outfit! I love the jewelry. Those old copper and copper enamel pieces are just fabulous. I have a few, but none inherited. I like inherited things best.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great colour combo, blues and browns. This is a very elegant outfit, and it's interesting to hear the history behind the things you wear.
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetie! Sorry I've been absent. Things have been very busy here.
ReplyDeleteI think I've said this before but teal is your colour! And I love the "swimming pool" blue skirt. It makes me happy.
The tonal pieces are gorgeous together, and they really make the piping in your shoes POP! I think T-strap shoes are the most elegant shoes. They always remind me of dancers.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit; the colors, the cut. You are such a dressy girl :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous color combo!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love the colors of that together. Hmmm, I might have to try something similar...my closet is bursting with both teal and turquoise. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love t-straps!!! Turqouise, teal and brown are great together! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have some of the best 'third pieces' like jackets. I see them in the stores and cant imagine what Ill wear with them. Especially I like the embroidered ones. I love the yellow leather one too.
