On Saturday, I got up early and went to my WW meeting. We had a game of Ultimate as well, so I dressed with both in mind.
This is my outfit for Visible Monday - go check out Patti's "Not Dead Yet Style" for more awesomeness!A classic brown fine wool blazer, a yellow cami-type top (not part of the capsule, as I never wear it on its own), and my periwinkle blue linen maxi skirt.
I've had this blazer since May 2011 - it's by Tahari/Arthur S. Levine and I thrifted it for $16.00. I also wore it in June 2011 (here) but that's it. How does a basic like a brown blazer not get worn? I'm going to get to the bottom of this!
I bought the skirt at WIN thrift store recently, in late July, when I went shopping with Lorinda. It has no label, but it feels wonderful to wear. I paid $12.50 for it.
The sandals are ones that I got in early 2011 for around $40 new - they're Kenneth Cole Reaction and they're super comfy. I think I last wore them here, last September.
Jacket (Tahari/Arthur S. Levine, thrifted), top (Reitman's, consignment), skirt (no label, thrifted), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction).
Today, L and I were both a wee bit hungover, so we headed to town and got groceries and went to the diner for brunch. It wasn't much of an outing, but I had to put in a minimum of effort and wee! I got to wear another outfit from the September capsule.
Comfy and casual is the name of the game. My kimono top is a stretchy sheer material, and has rust, taupe and burgundy in it, so it goes well as a transitional going-into-autumn piece. It's by Mexx and was thrifted in January 2011 (first worn here) for $9.50. I've also worn it here (March 2011), and it was part of my last outfit before I started this year-long capsule challenge, back in late January (here).
I'm wearing it over a rust cami, which is not part of the capsule.
The denim skirt is a straight column and has a raw waistband. It's by Mavi and I bought it on consignment for $17.00 last January (worn here).
The shoes are a pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction cork heeled platform wedges that I bought new at a consignment store for about $39.99 - I've had them for a couple of years. I think I last wore them last September (here). They are supremely comfortable.
Top (Mexx, thrifted), cami (InWear), skirt (Mavi, consignment), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction), choker (vintage 60s, Mom's), cuff (SkinzNHydez).
Hope you have a wonderful long weekend! I'll be doing the August summary for Monday (fingers crossed).
Everything always looks great in here Sheila! I'm especially in love with both pairs of shoes here. And that gorgeous patterned blouse.
ReplyDeleteDo you love the first of the month, so you can dig into a new collection? I am really liking your two long skirts here, and your great sandals. I've got some KC Reactions and they *are* so wearable. Come over and post your pic at Visible Monday, if you have a chance!
ReplyDeleteYou always look so pretty. BTW....I left a little comment and a picture for you on my most recent blog post! Swoosh
ReplyDeletePeriwinkle and brown are a good combination. You might not be wearing the basic brown blazer because compared to some of your other blazers, it's a little plain. But pairing it with that skirt gives it some life. I hope that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteLove the Kenneth Cole sandals too.
Your brown blazer and kimono top are really sharp, and I wish I could more easily find such wonderful long trumpet / A-line skirts. Some nice quality brands, and everything looks enjoyable to wear. Hooray for September!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing in your long skirts, and that kimono top is one of my fave of yours. You also look way better than I do when I'm hungover. My hangovers are weird. I wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, gloat that I'm not hungover, but by mid-afternoon am sick as a dog - enough that I'll think real hard about a second or third drink :P
ReplyDeleteHappy september Sheila! I really like the blue skirt from the first outfit!
ReplyDeleteLove how the yellow peeks out in the first outfit. You should teach the Master Class in dressing well.
ReplyDeleteI love busting out the fall clothing and colors....Love the kimono top and the blue skirt looks great on you ~ Your shoes are always so pretty I am big on having good shoes I like leather and shoes that are designed well and don't hurt your feet. I think it is better to have less and really good quality than have more junky stuff if you know what I mean ...Enjoy your holiday!! ~Heather
ReplyDeleteI love burgandy on you!
ReplyDeleteUm, I'm not wearing any burgundy...the jacket is brown, and the patterned top is rust (maybe a teensy bit of burgundy in the pattern?), as is the cami.
DeleteI can't believe it's another month already! I'm excited to see more of your September capsule, love what you've got here so far!
ReplyDeleteYou are tempting me to try long skirts! I especially like your first skirt - my favourite shade of blue - cornflower perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThat blue linen skirt is gorgeous. I hope it gets a lot of wear this month. I know personally, I never want to pull basics. I always want to grab my loudest most fun pieces because they are more exciting than a black jacket or pair of jeans.
ReplyDeleteI love both outfits!!
ReplyDeleteThe blue and brown together is stunning!
I now need a long denim skirt!!
I just adore everything you wear. Both pairs of shoes are TDF.
