Jul 19th - Outfit #21 - Grey and Floral

Last night was another Games Night at my work, so I didn't get home until late. Here's what I wore:
The grey button-down shirt (last worn here) and the orange suede skirt (last seen here).

I tied my silk Lauren by Ralph Lauren scarf like a tie. I've been tying ties (and scarves) since I was a teenager in the 80s, pilfering ties out of my dad's wardrobe.

I had been planning on wearing a different pair of shoes with this, but with these nice dark red kitten heels now in the mix, I thought I'd pull out the reds in the scarf's pattern and do red as an accent.
I've had these shoes a while, since May 2009 when I bought them on trade-in/consignment for $18.00.

I've worn them a lot! I last wore them here in January, as well as here (July 2011), here (June 2011), here (May 2011), here (Feb 2011, 3rd outfit), here (Dec 2009), here (October 2009), here (Sept 2009), here (July 2009), here (June 2009), and here (May 2009). At least a dozen wears - I'm not sure what happened in 2010! Maybe I mislabeled them (entirely possible).

One of the things I love about a cuffed shirt is getting to wear cufflinks:
I looted L's jewelry box for a vintage red pair.

The sparklies:
I think the cufflinks are from the 70s. The ring is Kenneth Cole and I've had it for about 6 years. It's really beat up and I'm using a bandaid for sizing (oh, the shame!).

Shirt (Club Monaco, consignment), skirt (Co & Eddy, thrifted), shoes (Predictions, consignment), cufflinks (vintage), ring (Kenneth Cole), scarf (Lauren by Ralph Lauren, consignment).

  3. The red shoes really spice up this outfit as do the big red red jewels. I like the shirt left untucked too.

  4. Sheila: No, I have not fallen off the Malaha! For some reason, I got lost on Google Reader and have had to replace my blogs. Not a big thing, but a bit time consuming. When I searched for your blog, it showed the yellow skirt and brilliant top - gave me a big smile - thanks.
I am now home - last treatment on Tuesday. I am so enjoying puttering about my home and sharing time with my dear hubby. I have been gardening and walking an hour at least every day - you are a great example for me. It is raining here now, so I will watch the weather and head out soon.
Have a wonderful weekend, and I am so happy to have your blog back in my life. Love, Peg - UI

  5. You know that imitation is the highest form of flattery. So I'll be sporting an orange blazer with a grey top this fall, great idea!

  7. I really like the scarf tied up like that. It also gives a nice tie-in with the skirt color. Cufflinks are so cool. Even cooler with the matching ring. I have a ring of my mom's I've "resized" with tape a couple of times. It's real gold/amethysts and I just haven't had the frivolous funds to resize it, but still want to wear it. I still remember my great-grandmother using band-aids on her rings.

  8. I love it when bloggers spill their style secrets, i.e. Band-aid sizing. I'm a Scotch tape ring sizer myself, but am switching to padded Band-aids STAT.

I used to wear French cuff shirts with cuff links - still have a pair I thrifted in college, but no appropriate shirts! Am adding that to Wish List for when I'm allowed to go thrifting again (determined to wear everything in closet first).

I know those aren't Vogs, but wow, they are super gorgeous and I covet them greatly :)

  9. Love your new red shoes - and the great color combo of gray and orange - so unexpected and spicy. Hey, you do quite a bit of "liberating", from what I can tell - Mom's jewelry box, L's cuff links, now we find out about Dad's ties . . . : > You look fantastic!

  11. What a beautiful color combination with the orange and the grey. I own just one pair of feminine cuff-links and DH owns zero. He's no help. These are beautiful cuff links.
