Weekend Wrap-Up: Pink and Aqua Brunch Bubbles; I Know and Blue Toile Ruffles for Book Club

Welcome back, my friends! I hope y'all have had a lovely weekend, full of fun! We spent a quiet weekend at home mostly - a little bit of socializing on Saturday for brunch, and Book Club on Sunday, but otherwise chill.

Saturday's brunch outfit features one of my favourite dresses.
It always makes me think of bubbles!

  • Dress - Marjorie Hamilton, vintage 60s, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) in July 2022 for last year's Phillips "Tilt" concert
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last seen here in May with palazzo pants and a mullet tunic

The folks at the Ruby enjoyed my dress.
We had a delicious brunch and caught up with Nick and Chris.

Groceries after.
And then a quiet afternoon of board games.

I pulled my hair out of the way to show off the back cut-out on this amazing dress.
No need for bra shenanigans!

Incognito.
We weren't out for very long and I didn't feel like sunblock.

Parasol to the rescue.
I felt perfectly summery in this.

Accoutrements:
That's the best $10 I've ever spent - this bamboo/paper parasol has been with me for close to a decade.

  • Purse - Roots 73, consignment
  • Parasol - Chinatown

The stuff:
The most-worn shoes I own. Such a fabulous aqua.

Silver bling:
Chunky!

  • Etched silver cuff - thrifted, Powell River
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Silver earrings - Brenda Schoenfeld, 1992
  • Silver balls ring - Sidney
  • Silver/turquoise ring - Glee

After a long evening of playing board games, I got ready on Sunday to go to Book Club at Mindy's house.
Time for another dress! My blue toile ruffled dress has been a firm favourite over the past 3 years.

  • Dress -PartTwo, consignment; last worn here in July 2022...with these shoes!
  • Shoes - "I Know" Star Wars by Irregular Choice, gift from Louise; last seen here in September 2022 with pink Boss Pants and more ruffles

It's just a straight up and down tube of tiers.
No pockets, but I'm okay with that.

I have bare legs - another hot day! - but have sporty shorts on underneath.
I have little footie nylons on to keep my toes from rubbing.

It's like wearing pajamas.
Hence, Jammy Dresses!

Incognito.
Cat walked over and Cat picked us up, with Janaki, and drove us all to Mindy's.

Accoutrements:
Not much needed.

  • Purse - Rebecca Minkoff, thrifted
  • Prescriptions sunglasses

The stuff:
"I know" - only my favourite line from any Star Wars movie (famously improvised by Harrison Ford in The Empire Strikes Back). These are sneaky shoes - Janaki spotted Han and Leia and exclaimed over them at Book Club.

Multi-coloured bling:
Some favourites. Our next book up for discussion is "Lincoln in the Bardo" by George Saunders - have you read it?

  • Silver/semi-precious stone bracelet - local, gift from L
  • Bangle - vintage 1920s, vintage mall
  • Kyanite/silver ring - consignment
  • Turquoise ring - Karen's
  • Silver/amber ring - consignment
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/malachite ring - consignment
  • Silver/amethyst earrings - c. 1985, gift from Dad

We discussed "Sharks in the Time of Saviors" by Kawaii Strong Washburn, which we all loved. Another winner! Great selection, Janaki!

And now, my friends, off to chill with whatever's left in my weekend. Thank you so much for dropping by!

  1. Love the bubble dress! I have said so before. I gasp whenever I see it :) Those blue platforms are a stylish match. A modern 60's vibe. Re the taupe bag, I find that colour bag so versatile. You have a great specimen there. I like the tube ruffle dress too. I am not normally into ruffles but this is such a cool unusual tubular shape. Fab!

    1. Thank you. I was confused about the taupe bag - you must mean the grey one I wore to Book Club? I dislike taupe as a colour, lol, but never say never! Thanks so much, Anonymous Commenter.

  2. BOTH dresses are perfect! The length, cuts, and coolness factor - cool for the style and pattern, cool for a hot summer’s day. Simply perfect! I’m ogling them both. :)

Appreciating your chunky accessories for your brunch outfit, including the shoes. The dress has me realizing I need more summer dresses of similar cut and length as the one you are wearing. One and done for summer fun, the style mantra of a summer jammy dress. ;)

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thank you, Laurie! One-and-done dresses are so easy - they're comfortable, they look great, and you really don't need much to make yourself look fab!

  3. Your Marjorie Hamilton dress is such a stunner, it's instantly making me happy just looking at it. No wonder it got so much love at the Ruby!
I think I need one of those parasols, though. I saw some at yesterday's flea market but I was too busy selling to do much buying ...
The ruffled dress is gorgeous as well, and perfect for a hot day!
I'm loving my jammy dresses too :-) xxx

  5. That bubble dress may be one of my favorite looks on you ever - and I've been lurking for a decade 😂 The print, the vibe, and the simplicity of the cut. Amazing.

  7. You have so many beautiful dresses! I love the accessories with each of them, of course the Rebecca Minkoff mini mac with the tiered dress, but also how perfectly those shoes match the bubble dress! :)

Thanks for joining the Weekday Wear Link up :)
