Return of the Greetje Dress, and the BYB

So many dresses, so little time! That is the answer to the question, "Why haven't I worn this dress sooner?"
I'm happy if I get in one wearing per season for my dresses.

  • Dress - Boden, gift from Greetje; last worn here (3rd outfit) by Reader Request back in September 2022
  • Shoes - Half-Truth Tanya, Fluevog; last seen here in May with my linen Firecracker dress

Still, it's about time I wore my Greetje dress. Do you know her? She's here, link 'cause I love.
We are blog-friends who hit it off at the 2015 International Vancouver 40+ Blogger Meetup (here, such awesome memories!). Last year-ish, I admired this dress she was less than happy with, and she shipped it to me from the Netherlands. What a sweetheart.

This dress completely swamps me, but sometimes it's just that kind of day.
It reminds me of being in bed, surrounded by fancy printed sheets. A nice comforting hug from a friend.

My eye goes right to that yellow belt. It's not as bossy in person.
The pattern of the dress muddies out a bit in pictures, but is very vibrant in real life.

Incognito.
Ginormous pockets and a waft-y scarf. Who is that woman?

The stuff:
Toe is getting better! These shoes were perfect for a quiet day at the office.

Focus-pulling bling:
Do you have a BYB (Big Yellow Belt)?

  • Scarf - Alexander McQueen, consignment
  • Belt - Papillon, thrifted
  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Silver/malachite bangle - Mexican, thrifted, Sidney
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Silver/malachite ring - consignment
  • Silver poison ring - Mexican, Karen's
  • Silver/glass earrings - vintage, vintage fair

  2. The stair picture provides a sense of the vibrancy of the dress pattern and colors. I liked your description of what this dress reminds you of; for me it is a big soft summer blanket to nestle in when the air conditioning is too cool but necessary.

I appreciate the matchiness of the bangles, rings and earrings. :)

Very proud of myself today…I upped my sartorial ante by wearing my maxi dress second hand find from Olympia, WA a few summers ago. Purchased all due to your blog posts coupled with an exchange of comments where you offered your encouragement. I feel soooo good wearing this outfit!

    Cheers,

  3. I've no problem with wearing only once per season either :-) That said, it's lovely to see that fabulous Greetje dress again. And no, unfortunately I haven't got a BYB, and I'm pretty envious of yours! xxx

    1. We have to spread the love around for our dress collections, right, Ann? Sending you good vibes for finding a BYB!

  4. Love the dress on you. As you have a waist, you can wear a big belt like that. I think it adds interest to the dress too. Brightens it up.
Because my waist is extremely short and a little bit wide, I don't wear big belts anymore. They make me look rather stupid.

    1. Yes, but I'm short, so it's hips, belt, boobs, with no space between them! I have to watch my proportions, or I'll be swallowed by the volume.

Aw, what about a hip belt?

  5. That dress is wonderful on you, the more voluminous the better when it comes to frocks! xxx
