Thrifted Ted, Pink Jungle and the Pirate Scarf

Another lovely summer day here on the west coast, and a good opportunity to wear this gorgeous TED BAKER dress that I thrifted for under $10 last week (retail $300+). Yes, I'm totally bragging - such a score.
Isn't it pretty? I love that one bigass flower against the windowpane plaid.

  • Dress - Ted Baker, thrifted; purchased here for $9.97
  • Shoes - Seychelles, consignment; last worn here in June with a feather-print dress
  • Jungle jacket - Adidas, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in May with a pea dress

As is usual during the summer, some of my coworkers are startled by all my tattoos.
Surprise! Whenever I buy a sleeveless dress, I always factor in how my tattoos will work with it.

This was a solid Jammy Dress. Pros: fully-lined (not see-through!), great pattern and overall shape, quality brand.
Cons: No pockets, and it's a bit big on me - it gapes in the armholes. I wore a light pink camisole to mitigate that.

It's also a titch baggy in the rear.
But it was comfortable for sitting in at my desk and walking to and from work - definitely a One-and-Done dress. I give it a B+.

Incognito.
My physical sunblock: a light jacket from my Weird Adidas collection.

I thought the pink jungle print went well with the dress.
Pockets! Ted Baker, pay attention, please.

The stuff:
These shoes were just as good on their second wearing - they are very comfy!

Green and pink bling:
Yar, there be a pirate scarf. It was thick and soft.

  • Silk scarf - Fluevog; purchased here for $69.99
  • Gold bangle - thrifted
  • Green enamel bangles - thrifted
  • Earrings - consignment
  • Olivine/coral ring - Hawaii, c. 1977, Mom's
  • Crystal cocktail ring - vintage 70s, Mom's

  3. Hi Sheila!

I keep scrolling back to your earrings. Earrings are my favorite jewelry and there is something about the color and arrangement of these gentle green wash earrings that speaks to me.

I’m guessing that with any combination of hot and humid this dress is very comfortable and the slight extra roominess offers nice cooling and no sticking. As for lack of pockets, I’m with you on that - every dress should have pockets! Same with pants.

    Your tattoos match the dress!

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Aren't they cool, Laurie? and light as a feather. I think they are probably vintage, either from the 60s or 70s - they aren't modern. There is a faint ripple effect in the plastic that looks like waves.

Yes, I think it will be excellent on really hot days. I do wish it had pockets!

Yup, I liked that the dress' pattern echoed my rose/leaves tattoos!

  4. What a great dress! Love it with the pirate scarf, jacket and shoes. Awesome jewelry too...especially those green rings! I need to go through my jewelry. It's a jumbled mess and i'm not even sure what I have anymore. There's probably things I want to wear, but first I need to find them. It sounds like something I don't want to do, but maybe it'll be like a treasure hunt.

    1. Thank you, Cheryene! I recommend a good sort of your jewelry - try putting "sets" together (earrings, rings, necklaces) by colour or style. I use glass bowls, plates and dishes to group things like rings, large earrings, bangles and pendant necklaces. It really helps me see what I have. Hope you find some treasure!

    2. Thanks for the great ideas! I have plenty of unused cool bowls and cups. Now I'm more motivated to start.

  5. I love the way your dress not only goes with that jungle print jacket but with your tattoos as well. Regarding the latter, I'm hoping none of your colleagues were shocked :-) Shame about the lack of pockets, though. xxx

    1. No, just one newer colleague who didn't know I had any! And he wasn't THAT shocked. I love the dress - and curse the lack of pockets!

  6. I was about to reply to this post, when I was on my phone. My avatar doesn't work with blogger on my phone. But, I wanted to say I adore this dress. It is fine as it is. You call it roomy, I call it chic.

  7. The weird Adidas is great with that TB dress! I've snaffled an amazing Adidas x Farm track top this week, I can't wait to show it off in Autumn! xxx

  8. I like how you added the pink layers with this! I really wish more dresses had pickets - but even without them this is a great dress on you :)

    1. Pockets! Always - I often put dresses back because they don't have pockets.
