We've had some spectacular sunsets, full of reds, pinks and oranges. Outfit inspiration!
- Blazer - InWear; last seen here in June with pinks, and these same shoes
- Top - Scotch & Soda, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
- Skirt - Richard Quinn x Debenhams, consignment; last worn here in March for work and a concert
- Shoes - Sole Talk Lenora, Fluevog; last seen here in June with this same blazer
This striped top with the lace insert is tricky to style! It's casual (the stripes, the soft cotton material) but also formal (high Victorian lace neckline).
I basically held it up to all of my bottoms to see if any struck a chord, and ended up with this gorgeous neoprene pencil skirt.
The high neck of the top worked with the long lines of the skirt.

And the red stripes went well with the reds in the skirt, which has all the sunset colours in it.
From there, I grabbed this versatile orange blazer. The cream lining matched the top and light shades in the shoes.

Here's the look without the jacket. I would roll the sleeves up if I wore the top solo - that's a weird sleeve length.
I wore it like this for a little while after I arrived in the office - I was warm from climbing many flights of stairs (my morning intense cardio at the end of a 20 minute walk to work).

I had to wear my hair up, as that metal zip is very grabby.
This top felt like quality - it's not cheap lace (all handmade, not machined), and those are knitted stripes in the fabric, not printed.

The stuff:
More orange (morange?) in the shoes. I've paired these with the same orange blazer for every wearing of them! I think I need to change that up, although why mess with a winning formula?

Oh neoprene! I love that fabric. Such a good feel. And no ironing! Beautiful skirt Sheila. And doesn't stripes look good on just everything?
ReplyDeleteI like it in certain things, mostly skirts. Thanks, Nancy!
DeleteVictorian top and Oriental evoking (but definitely not in terms of material!) skirt, a wonderful juxtaposition! Your shoes are shining summer, plus they go with the background of your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Laurie
Aw, thank you, Laurie! Ha, yes, I often match my blog theme, don't I? Those are my favourite colours!
DeleteI was really looking forward to how you would style that Scotch & Soda top, and you have more than exceeded my expectations. Those sunset colours are a sight for sore eyes indeed!
ReplyDeleteHearing you on the weird sleeve length, but you solved that problem brilliantly by layering that blazer on top. Oh, and those shoes! Yes to morange! xxx
I might wear this more in autumn, when I can layer it up a bit more, Ann. The neckline is really stunning, and I love that Victorian feel with the lace.
DeleteI rolled the sleeves up when I had the top on with just the skirt - that was MUCH better. Hooray for morange shoes!
You call this all the sunset colours. I call it: Jelly, fruit and ice-cream! I love it! You look tasty!
ReplyDeleteThat top is gawjus- I would totally wear that but I do see how it might be hard to style. I could imagine it with wide legged navy trousers- sailor look! Maybe it's just me that likes to go full on sailor though! Ha!xx
You're not wrong there, Kezzie! I also get watermelon and Freezies!
DeleteI also thought of my navy trousers by Jean Paul Gaultier - I'll have to see if they still fit, lol. I like the sailor look too!
What a beautiful Tequila Sunrise of an outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claire!
DeleteVery eclectic outfit, totally you. Love the shoes with it.
