I'm so sorry, neglected suit! I do love you, I promise.
So we can call this a "neut suit", yes? Har har, that's a knee-slapper.
The suit is made of very slinky polyester, so it's very flowy and swooshy to wear.
I nearly always wear it buttoned.

The trousers are high-waisted, but short and cuffed.
I've worn this top with the blazer before - which you'll see shortly! - but never with both pieces of suiting (as we called it in my retail days).

I took the jacket off when I got overheated.
Three different neutral prints in one outfit! I deserve a medal - that's high-level stuff.

Silver bling:
I picked some of my amber/brown things to go with the leopard blouse (the print on the suit is cream/brown also).

Flashback: Karl Lagerfeld Leopard Blouse
I picked up this cute blouse while introducing a work colleague to the joys of thrift shopping at WIN (Women In Need) on Pandora Ave., way back here in July 2018. As often happens when I'm shopping with someone else, things just leap off the rack at me!
It's a lovely silky polyester, in a perfect leopard print. How did I live without a leopard sleeveless top before?
This one was $7.50 (half off with the butterfly punch) - not bad for a Karl Lagerfeld blouse that would have retailed around $79.00 new.

I wore it right away on a hot day in July 2018. Not a very creative outfit, but I do like the leopard with that shade of hot pink.
I let go of the shoes (too tight) some time ago. I have a feeling I passed the skirt along too.

In September 2019, I went to the last big Vintage Expo at the Crystal Gardens (I got my gold mesh snake necklace there, sold as a belt for $20!).
I just wore that Smoking Lily jacket the other day, but the gold leather (yes, leather!) pants are on hold until I can get back in to them. I gave away the gold glitter shoes.

I love this mixed outfit from May 2019 - recognize the suit jacket? And the shoes?
And there are those wonderful gold leather pants again. Must get back into them!

I did a Flashback (here) on this ancient-for-me green tweed suit when I last wore it in February 2021.
I have a sentimental attachment to it, so it's archived - it's not really "me" anymore, but maybe one day I'll decide to drag it out again!

I wore this funky outfit for Book Club in May 2021 - I still have all the parts!
Yes, I do believe my hair is faintly blue there - I played with the colour a lot over the past 5 years!

And here's the last time I wore this wee blouse, way back in March 2022.
Those shoes are recently gone (Toe does not like that shape), and I'm due to wear my Boss Pants again soon.

Mathy stuff: I paid $7.50 for it and I've worn this top 7 times, so that's $1.07 per wear. Excellent!
And yes, I am getting rid of the blouse - it is quite snagged down the front, with loads of wispy threads which have wrecked the pattern in places. It's not like leopard tops are rare in the thrift stores, so I'll have "leopard layering top" on my mental shopping list until I find a good one.
Do you have a favourite outfit here? Is a leopard blouse a must in your closet?
Favorite outfits - May 2019 and today’s outfit with the neut suit. :) I especially like that the leopard top is sleeveless! Such a flattering cut, I hope you are able to trade up!
ReplyDeleteAdmiring all your jewelry (again :)) especially the filigree cuff, and I love having wearable souvenirs from travels.
Am thinking today (Thursday) might be a Mom Day Adventure, so hoping you and your Mom have a fun time, and I look forward to tagging along via your post.
Cheers, Laurie
Yup, that May 2019 one is my favourite too, Laurie! I am sure I can find a replacement pretty easily (famous last words, ha) - I see leopard tops almost every time I shop. The problem is finding a good one!
DeleteYes, it reminds me fondly of that trip to London!
Sadly, it will not be - Mom's had a bad night, and needs to rest up. Take care, my friend!
The suit jacket & gold leather trousers is my favourite but they're all pretty damned fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have anything leopard print in my wardrobe at the moment, I 've sold it all! xxx
That outfit was a winner, Vix! Fair enough, leopard is not everyone's bag.
DeleteLoving the "neut suit" (which still sounds less hilarious than "suiting"). Shame about the KL leopard top, but it did have its fair share of outings. I love the first one, with the hot pink skirt, the most! Sadly, no leopard top in my wardrobe right now. Would you believe I last had one of those in my punk years? xxx
ReplyDelete"Suiting" is right up there with "signage" for me, Ann. Yeah, I will be looking for another sleeveless leopard top - even if I didn't wear it that much, it is still useful. Wow, it's been that long??
DeleteI'm so far behind commenting, but love to look at your stunning wardrobe pictures and mom day adventures.
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so thrilled you are still out there, Sam. Thank you!
DeleteGreat suit up look. You're a boss lady!:)
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question- yes.
Leopard blouse is a yes!
Thanks, Ivana! I totally agree!
DeleteI love the suit with the leopard top. Just goes to show you that leopard is really a neutral. It can go with anything. Actually I think the suit worn like this, is the nicest way.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
I like this iteration of the suit too, thank you, Greetje!
