Mullet Tunic and Silk Palazzos

I played in my closet on the weekend and built a bunch of outfits for the week ahead to give me a confidence boost and once again, I'm reminded how important that is for my mental health. I felt serene and strong afterwards.
This flowy and billowy outfit matched my state of mind, and I always feel good in red. This is a lovely bright shade.

  • Linen tunic - Miting, consignment; purchased here for $44.00
  • Silk trousers - Pinkertons, consignment; last worn here (multiple times) on our August 2022 trip to Powell River
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last seen here in August 2022 with watery florals
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last worn here in April

I wore a thin camisole underneath - the tunic is a crispy linen/cotton blend (it wrinkled a bit during the day).
I love the asymmetrical mullet of it. Business in the front, party in the back!

With angles! Who doesn't love angles?
The palazzo pants are billowy silk, with big pockets and an elastic waist. I've had them since 2017 and have worn them 10-11 times.

This is the first time I've worn them with red - I matched the border stripe.
I loved the angled back on the tunic too. Angles!

Incognito - it was a bit chilly still today.
Hotter weather is on the way!

Accoutrements:
I'll be wearing my scarves on my head soon, to protect from the sun.

  • Silk scarf - Halston, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
I've worn these shoes well over FIFTY times over 11 years. Easily one of my top 10 favourites.

Round bling:
Soothing circles.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Snake bracelet - vintage mall; purchased here for $20.00
  • Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Turquoise/silver ring - Glee
  • Turquoise/silver ring - Mexican, Karen's
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. Your opening paragraph illustrates what I learned late in life -- women's fashion, with its creativity and opportunity for personal expression, helps us psychologically as well as sartorially. Dressing, and even just planning outfits, can fulfill us in valuable ways. In my view the activity is art on a personal level. Thanks for demonstrating this!

  2. I should really take a leaf out of your book and create some outfits for the week ahead during the weekends, but I've been feeling a bit uninspired lately. I'm blaming it on the weather!
Your closet play has most definitely paid off, as this is such a fun and fabulous outfit. I'm instantly cheered up by the sight of it. I always forget what a wonderful combo red and turquoise is, so thank you for the reminder! xxx

  3. What a fabulous moutfit. Those trousers remind me of something Diana Rigg would have worn in Evil Under The Sun!
Your shoes don't look like they've been worn 50 times, they're immaculate! xxx

  5. I love this combination Sheila! That tunic is so fun with the printed pants, and you look incredibly stylish (as you always do!). I take after my grandma I think in that I like playing in my wardrobe and planning outfits - it's fun and relaxing for me too, and it helps in the crazy mornings trying to get myself and the kids ready and out the door. Definitely a good thing to do for mental health!

  6. I love this combination. The colours (that blue and red), the shapes! Ever so nice. This is a winner.
