Copper and Teal, Plus Found and Fixed Things

Today's outfit is based around my new-to-me vintage copper jewelry that I bought last week.
When I base an outfit around jewelry, I like to showcase it with fairly simple garments, like this teal slip-dress.

  • Turtleneck - Jacob, thrifted; last worn here in December 2021 for a shopping trip with Yvonne
  • Dress - Sam Edelman, consignment; last seen here in May 2021 for a Zoom call with Mom
  • Boots - Donald J. Pliner, consignment, Sidney; last worn here in March with a cow-print dress
  • Coat (below) - Cache, consignment; last seen here in March

I love having teal and turquoise in my wardrobe to go with all of my copper - I have a massive collection (see here, picture - and I missed a couple!).
Nothing outrageous, just a sparkly black viscose turtleneck under the dress.

If the length looks odd to you, the dress does have big slits up the sides.
It's one of those dresses that has a lot of movement to it.

Two little pearls on the ends of the straps dangle and bobble around. Cat-bait!
I saw a few people on Teams today, so I modeled my outfit. Thanks so much to my lovely Burnaby and Calgary colleagues!

Masked up.
Matchy!

Outerwear incognito.
Yay for leopard!

Accoutrements:
Copper, orange and teal - it all goes so well with this McQueen scarf.

  • Scarf - Alexander McQueen, consignment, Vancouver
  • Gloves - consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I knew these boots would work well in my spring wardrobe. I adore them with the copper.

Copper bling:
I'm fairly certain that the new-to-me necklace is by the same company/maker as the ball bracelet (which has a matching necklace, pic here). The black shading is done the same, and the insert in the backs of the balls is the same.

  • Necklace - vintage 60s, consignment; purchased here for $50.00
  • Ball bracelet - vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Copper/enamel cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Copper/aqua glass ring - vintage 60s, consignment; purchased here for $22.00
  • Copper ball ring - vintage 60s, consignment; purchased here for $16.00
  • Copper/enamel earrings - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, Grandma J's

In the past few days, I've found a couple of things - like, I literally found them. The gold/pearl hinged cuff was in a vacant office at work (I checked with the previous occupant, nope, no one reported a missing bracelet), and the beaded earring was on the sidewalk on the way to work. Little gifts from fairies, no doubt!
I also have my turquoise titanium Theo frames back in circulation! The finish on the lenses was peeling off and I couldn't see out of them anymore, so I took them to Goo Goo Goggles and paid for new (non-coated) lenses in them. It was a fraction of the cost of new glasses, and now I can swap my frames to match my outfits again. Fixed!

  1. Beautiful feminine outfit. Love the blue dress. It looks great paired with a pair of cowboy boots and a leopard coat. Cool that you got your glasses fixed and have two frames to alternate between now.

  2. Fantastic outfit, Sheila! Copper and turquoise are just made for each other. I love that you kept your outfit "simple" to let all that amazing jewellery play the starring role. Those fabulous boots couldn't have been better suited, and I love the splash of leopard added by your coat! xxx

  5. That dress looks so good on you and copper does work so well with teal! I adore those boots with this outfit too :) And that pretty cuff was a great find, what good luck!

  6. Oooh, I hadn't realised the pendant was so large - it's splendidly dramatic. And it looks fantastic against the teal of the slip dress.

  7. Such a great outfit! Spaghetti strap dresses over long sleeved tops will forever channel the 1990s to me and remain as one of my favourite styling elements from that era. An instant classic in its own right and one that as you excellently demonstrate here, is no less at home in 2022 than it was back in the days of dial-up internet service, flip phones, and abundantly glittery makeup.
