Pshaw! I've been wearing this suit for years!
- Suit (blazer & trousers) - Part Two; last seen here in May 2021 with neon orange
- Bodysuit - Escada, vintage 90s, thrifted; purchased here for $12.95
- Shoes - Truths Pilgrim, Fluevog; last worn here in March for a Mom-Day adventure
- Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last seen here in March
It all comes down to wearing whatever the heck you want. I liked this suit - so I bought it, and first wore it way back here in May 2019. That's an eternity ago in trend terms! Those designers are copying me, ha ha!
It's a fabulous suit - like pajamas, very drapey. I only have it out for spring/summer, as it's very lightweight.I saw a bunch of coworkers and fellow building tenants today and everyone LOVED this look! It's very Boss Lady.
Even though the pattern on it is shades of brown and tan, it's easy to just treat it as a black suit.

After all, I was one of the Men In Black (remember this bit of hilarity here at the start of the pandemic?).
I like it best with the jacket done up, but I undid it when I was seated.

The top is actually a bodysuit, and I'd totally forgotten that I bought this back in February - it had been sitting at the bottom of my bag of delicates, waiting for me to wash it.
It was lovely and thick and I had very little butt-creep. When I steamed all my clothes last night (as I do before I wear almost everything), I discovered this.

Masked up.
Outerwear incognito:
It's so chilly in the mornings, but roasty-toasty on the way home. I could have taken this sleeveless coat off. I certainly did not need the scarf and gloves!

Accoutrements:
I've been looking for a black-and-red patterned scarf for ages - so glad I have this one.

- Gloves - Parkhurst
- Silk scarf - Fluevog
- Mask - by Mom
The stuff:
My shoes had a bunch of admirers today, including one of my VPs - I sent her a "Non-Work-Related" email with a link to the black pair. I love my fashionable colleagues!

Bold bling:
My snake belt doesn't really match - the bronze metal on it vs. all this silver and steel - but I let it go. It's such a cool belt!

- Pendant/earrings - M&M, consignment, Vancouver
- Steel cuff - thrifted
- Silver/gold bracelet - JPL, vintage fair

Did you notice the lobster on my blazer lapel? It's one of my favourite brooches (thanks again, Mom!).
And now...I'm off for the weekend! I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure!
I always think of an oversized suit being a really huge shoulder padded nightmare from the 80s, this one is very elegant!
ReplyDeleteI always have loved and still love a suit! I like a androgynous look from time to time. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the boss. In clothes or home wear, I hear trend and think boring fast fashion. Now, I have no style other than to say I like what makes me feel good clothes and home.
ReplyDeleteThis boss suit is so you. I love the pattern and the cut. The red items (the shoes and the bodysuit) contrast it perfectly. You have created a beautiful styling. No wonder everyone at the office loved it. Very boss lady indeed!
ReplyDeleteHow dare those designers copy you, and not give you credit! Surely it's the least they could have done!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, loving the Boss Lady black suit(ing) worn with red. The bold bling is fabulous, too, and I adore the lobster brooch!
Have a great weekend Sheila! xxx
That's a fantastic suit.
ReplyDeleteJust an amazing outfit -- so chic!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat suit is fabuloous on you especially with the splash of red!
ReplyDeleteThe lobster brooch is stunning. Zara have an amazing fake emerald praying mantis brooch this year, hopefully it'll turn up in the charity shops eventually.
Have a super weekend. xxx
you are definitely a trend-setter, you often inspire me! :) And you rock this suit, it's so fun with the red touches!
ReplyDeleteThat suit really is fabulous. And proves trends may come and go, but style is enduring.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I would not be the least bit surprised if there were some designers out there copying you - and how could they not, when you have one of most fantastic personal styles of all time!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great suit. It marries timelessness and (the ability to) stand out from the usual flock of pattern-less versions sooo well.

PS: I cannot help but think how much Jordan Peterson would approve of your lobster brooch. :D
It is a very good suit and you styled it well. A keeper. But you already knew that years ago.
