Fall Floral and Rose Suede

Well, after yesterday's debacle of a dress, I am happy to reveal that today I am not nearly as droopy.
Warm rosy-pink tones and copper make me happy, plus a new-to-me item getting its first wearing. Ah, feels like me again!

  • Sweater - Talbots, consignment, Powell River; purchased here for $20.00
  • Shirt - Denver Hayes, consignment; last worn here in February for Pink Shirt Day
  • Skirt - Kelco Leather, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in January with an equestrian blouse
  • Boots - Rockport, thrifted; last worn here in January - same outfit as the skirt
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in March

Although this sweater is 100% merino wool, it didn't work that well in my fall/winter wardrobe.
It's a very thin knit and the colour mix in it is soft pinks and cherry red, with a touch of yellow and moss green, plus that very dark black-brown-wine base colour. It's very much a fall floral.

I supposed I could have paired it with this very skirt and boots any time during the past couple of months.
All of these items were in my fall/winter closet.

But for whatever reason, I didn't put them together then.
So now it's a spring/early fall sweater, and look how nicely it goes with my rose-pink suede skirt.

Masked up.
The skirt is one of those all-year items in my closet. It's thick and heavy 70s suede, but the colour is really flexible for spring.

Outerwear.
I was blown around on the way to work and unsuccessfully attempted to wrap my scarf around my head. I was rather annoyed by the time I got to work, and my hair looked like I'd dried it with a whisk.

Accoutrements:
We had temps between 4 degrees ("feels like -3") and 12 degrees. That's a huge swing! I needed a hat (again), but it was too windy.

  • Scarf - vintage, thrifted
  • Gloves - Ralph Lauren, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Love these boots. I had to do some physical stuff in the office today, and these are always comfy.

Coppery bling:
I love how the necklace filled in the sweater neckline. Copper and pink are so pretty together.

  • Necklace - Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Earrings - vintage expo
  • Enamel/copper cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Feather cuff - thrifted

In addition to me being frustrated by the wind, one of the copper rings I had on was missing by the time I got to work - it must have slid off while I was taking off my gloves to futz with my scarf. Ah well, someone will enjoy finding a "fairy ring."

  1. Luscious outfit, Sheila. I never thought of putting copper with pink, but it's so pretty! I'm going to try that with my copper necklace.

  2. "my hair looked like I'd dried it with a whisk."- snorted with laughter!!!
Even though I'm not a huge pink fan, i think this look is incredibly pretty on you! I love the sweater and shirt combo and I would wear it! I must go back and see yesterday's disaster outfit. Intrigued. Sorry to hear about the ring. I lost a lovely red fur wrist cuff a few years ago and was really upset as it would be of no use to anyone on its own. I searched the 3 miles I'd walked twice, to no avail!

    1. That's what I did when I saw my hair!

I love this rosy shade, and I've really come around on pink in the last 10 years or so. Ha, you can really skip the previous outfit...

It sucks when you lose a piece, doesn't it?

  3. You couldn't have picked a more perfect companion for that jumper! The skirt is such a delicious colour, and I'm loving all the copper bling. Oh no about the ring though. I left behind one of my rings in a charity shop rest room, where I'd removed it to wash my hands. Of course, I only realized when we got home and were making outfit photos. Jos said they'd probably put it up for sale, so I'll have to keep my eyes peeled :-) Oh, and I too snorted with laughter at your "my hair looked like I'd dried it with a whisk" remark :-)) xxx

    1. Thanks so much, Ann! Yeah, bummer - it wasn't an expensive ring, but I liked it. I hate it when I lose a favourite.

Ha, thanks! I snorted when I saw myself!

  4. Whisk-dried hair conjures a most entertaining image! Your outfit, on the other hand, is warming and soothing. It’s been rainy and chilly today, the kind of day where I just want to cuddle up with something soothing, and that’s how I see your outfit.

Oof, I understand the disappointment of the missing ring. I had a silver ring that wound around my finger twice like ivy climbing a wall. Same story as Polyester Princess…off it came for hand washing, never to return to the finger. That was about 30 years ago and I have never found a satisfactory replacement.

    1. Oh, it was, Laurie! Thank you so much - it was that kind of day for us too.

It sucks, but...it's just a thing, and I didn't pay that much for it. I hope whoever finds it enjoys it. I lost a dear-to-me ring handwashing too! Funny, how the memory sticks!

  5. I love Talbots and wear almost nothing else. The petites fit short stocky people like me well. Unless I am of course in my bib overalls making a mess which is most of the time. I really like this outfit. You look good in reds. You look good in everything, jealous here.

  7. That skirt looks betetr and better each time I see it. The jumper was made to go with it and the copper accessories are fabulous, what a shame about that ring, though! xxx

  9. Ooohhh, isn't that a gut punch-esque feeling when you discover an element of your outfit that you began the day with did come home with you mere hours later? I have had that happen a few times over the years and can still remember each as though it were yesterday (it's a tie between losing one of a fab pair of really unique hoop earrings and, a few years prior, somehow having a stunning c. 1940s/early 50s dark blue blow off my head on a windy, snowy winter day in terms of the pieces I was most miffed to have vanish).

As I'm sure you would imagine, I am more than a wee bit in love with the beautiful berry meets autumn tones at work in this terrific ensemble. Fall-ish as these shades can be, I think they work wonderfully for early fall, too. As we are still emerging from the dark, muted tones of winter and haven't yet reach the sun-drenched hues of summer quite yet.

  10. Oh, that is pretty! Much brighter and punkier than the droopy dress.
