Fancy Friday: Blue and Chartreuse, and a Happy Surprise

Happy Friday, my friends!

I'm anxious to start my weekend, so let's get to it. Outfit!
I built the outfit around this new-to-me blue top that I picked up on the weekend. Ignore my klassy blue bra strap showing there.

  • Cardigan - Joseph, consignment; last worn here in July 2020 for the first Mrs. Roper Pool Party
  • Blouse - J. Crew, thrifted; purchased here for $12.95
  • Skirt - Massimo Dutti, thrifted; first seen here in September 2021 with chartreuse leather
  • Boots - Matisse, consignment; last worn here in March with tapestry
  • Loomed Lady coat (below) - vintage 60s, thrifted; last worn here two days ago

The blouse is fine - it's a useful item.
No more needs to be said about it.

I've waffled on this cardigan for years - it's been in the giveaway pile, and been retrieved.
It tends to really bag out when I wear it, which is annoying.

The sleeves don't stay shoved up, and you know I am a veteran sleeve-shover-upper.
But how often do you find a slinky long chartreuse cardigan? Answer: not often.

Masked up - a pretty one.
The skirt is a lovely woven one, with pockets. It doesn't have chartreuse in it - it has bits of gold, but the read as matching chartreuse. This is only the second time I've worn it, and I liked it much more. The boots helped.

Outerwear - I dashed out mid-day to go to the dentist.
I was there and back in just over an hour.

My dentist was very impressed with my Badass Bag.
He called all his staff to come and look at it. Nice!

Accoutrements:
It was super-windy today and my hair is full of tangles.

  • Gloves - Ralph Lauren, consignment
  • Scarf - Smoking Lily, gift from Janet, 1997
  • Mask - by Cat

The stuff:
I didn't bother carrying these boots to work - they are great for walking.

Matchy bling:
I played with all the colours: gold, blue, green and white.

  • Belt - Banana Republic, thrifted
  • Lucite bangle - vintage, Lazy Susan's
  • Hinged enameled bangles - thrifted
  • Eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Necklace - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Gold hoop earrings - 5th anniversary gift from L
  • Fulvia Ring/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

I had a happy surprise last night while I was transferring my wallet and sundries into the Badass Bag from my usual backpack:
My missing copper ring was in the bottom of the knapsack! Yay!

And with that, I am signing off for the weekend - I hope you all have a good one filled with good times. I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure.

  1. Your dentist has great taste! Hope the visit was okay, I know you're not a fan!
Love a bit of chartreuse - I never wear bras but found a chartreuse one with the tags still attached in a charity shop last week and bought it just 'cos of the colour.
Great news on the ring! xxx

  2. You even impress dentists! That's great news on the ring. I'd keep the sweater because I love long sweaters, but you're right- the color is phenomenal.

  3. The colors and shapes of your outfit absolutely say SPRING! You likely already know that I, too, love the blue color of your top, and it goes perfectly with the skirt. Coupled with the long sweater (which I think looks perfect but then I'm not the one wearing it ;-)) and the boots, and the outfit is springily perfect. And of course, the boots mesh just right with the color of the coat.

If I am not gushing enough ;-) here's a bit more - the entire ensemble rocks, including jewelry, mask and your AWESOME BADASS BAG. Top it off with finding your ring in the backpack and what more could you ask for. :-)

  4. Happy weekend. I hope you've been enjoying it so far.
I love how perfectly colour coordinated this outfit is.
Beautiful structure as well. The coat is gorgeous too.
    You always rock Sheila!

  5. First of all, yay for finding your missing ring at the bottom of your backpack!
Love your outfit: that's such a gorgeous skirt and I am quite envious of your slinky chartreuse cardigan. I had a similar one, only shorter, but it has become rather holey, and in spite of searching far and wide, I haven't found a replacement yet.
Wonderful to get some Badass Bag appreciation from your dentist and his staff!
Have a great weekend Sheila! xxx

  6. Because the color is great I will say keep it, but always be upgrading! I would like you to please find a cropped chartreuse leather jacket-ish type thing.

  7. I think this cardigan is definitely a keeper - it's so nice in this outfit and I have liked it in others! but I also know how frustrating it is when you're constantly adjusting an outfit - or sleeves - all day! Good news you found your missing ring!

  8. Lovely outfit, very flattering. I use sleeve garters (is that the right word?) if a sleeve is really uncooperative. I love the high boots with the outfit.

PS it is nice to get recognition for your artwork isn't it?

  9. Wasn't it that bad at the dentist? I thought normally you are nervous about going for days? Ah well, sounds like a good thing when you are back that quick. I would keep that cardigan as it matches so perfectly with the top and skirt. But you know I'm match matchy. Have a great Sunday!

  10. What a pretty outfit! The top goes so well with the skirt you'd think they were designed as a team. A fashion team. Hey, there should be a Fashion League where outfits compete for trophies. :)

  14. Finding your ring is a lovely surprise! I really like the mix of the cardigan, blouse and skirt. The colours all work great together. I'm a "sleeve pusher-upper" too and it drives me nuts if they don't stay pushed up.

  15. Hooray for finding the ring!

That outfit is great - no surprise the cardigan keeps finding its way back into your wardrobe. It goes so well with the skirt.

  16. That is such a fantastic colour palette. Earthy, but not entirely subdued and just - IMO - so peaceful to look at as well. Plus, you are lucky that chartreuse looks good on you. It is trickier colour for a lot of us (myself included) to pull off, but it looks like a million bucks and then some on you.

(And while it isn't my most flattering shade by any means, it isn't the worst on me either, so I will dabble in it from time to time. Though, do not believe I own any chartreuse hued garments at the moment.)

Three very big cheers regarding find your missing ring! Do you find, as I do, that losing/misplacing wearable items causes you a surprising amount of stress/anxiety? I hope not, but if so, know that I totally understand and share all the more in your jubilation about unearthing this wonderfully lovely ring.

Big hugs & the very happiest of wishes for a stellar month of May!
