Black Plaid and Profesh Purple

Hello, and welcome back! No time to chit-chat - I had a 2-hour Zoom call with Elaine after work, and totally whiffed on this post. Now it's late, and I'm tired.
I built the outfit around the new-to-me black plaid blazer.

  • Blazer - Smythe, consignment; purchased here for $70.40
  • Top - Tatum & Olivia, consignment; last worn here in March on our anniversary jaunt to Vancouver
  • Skirt - Diane Von Furstenberg, consignment; last seen here in April 2021 with more purples
  • Shoes - Summertime Moonbeams, Fluevog 2007; last worn here (2nd outfit) in March with a sparkly jumpsuit
  • Sweetums cape (below) - vintage 70s, consignment; purchased here for $47.50

I stuck to classic styling for it.
Nothing like a solid pencil skirt, it's always profesh.

The detail on this purple wool skirt is excellent - it has double slits, one per side. This is only its third wearing.
I wore the jacket done up all day, just because it fits so perfectly.

Isn't the detail nice?
I love the elbow patches and the dip down in the back hem.

Masked up.
Matchy purples.

Outerwear - I risked cold arms on the way to work, but it was easy enough to "retract" them into the cape.
After work, I was glowing and rapidly shedding gloves, beret...Sweetums is a very warm garment! A young lady exclaimed over my outfit as I was walking home, how much she loved my whole look. It's nice when people notice.

Accoutrements:
I liked how this classy Yves Saint Laurent silk scarf looked with the cape. It doesn't match...but it goes.

  • Scarf - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage, thrifted
  • Beret - consignment
  • Gloves - Danier Leather
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Easy shoes. The wood parts match the leather elbow patches - I'm always a fan of that kind of detail.

Gold bling:
Secret kitties.

  • Floral bracelet - thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Cat earrings - Winnie Tam
  • Leaf bracelet - Trifari, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Brooch - vintage 60s, Mom's

And now...off to bed!

  2. Thanks to the shoes and skirt, your outfit reminds me of styles from the 40s or thereabouts. The blazer is a definite keeper and both it and the skirt look MAHvelous on you! The cape is quite an eye catcher and yet it is actually quite “calm” in its presentation; must be the combination of pattern and style that calmly ups the ante.

  4. This is classic styling with a difference! The blazer looks fantastic on, and I'm loving how it dips down in the back. The purple pencil skirt and frothy white blouse are just perfect with it.
The cape is a delight, but I am hearing you on shedding things on your way home. Had to do the same today, with about 5°C in the morning and 20°C by midday! xxx

  5. Sheila-la-la! Sorry if I got your name wrong before but I do know your name! I love that cape like nobody's business but the total ensemble is pure style fabulosa. And good on the person shouting their appreciation of your outfit- we need more vocal sweet spots like that!

  11. You just know I ADORE this feminine, classic, wonderfully pretty ensemble - which veers a bit into a style category that I am a huge fan of (and sometimes wear myself) called "corp (for corporate) goth".

What an awesome pair of shoes! I love how (save perhaps for the thick anklet strap part, which reads as a touch more modern to me) they have a great mid-century style to them that instantly calls to mind many a stylish Hollywood star and "everyday woman" alike of the 1940s.
