Coral and Yellow Brights, and Sad for Stephen

I'm working through the outfits I put together last week post-swap-over - this one features a new-to-me skirt that I picked up for a bargain price.
And a repeat of a once-worn item from my fall/winter shopping season.

  • Blouse - Zara, consignment; first seen here in January with my pirate skirt
  • Skirt - Marc Cain, thrifted; purchased here for $7.95
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluemarket, Fluevog; last worn here in September 2021 with acid-wash denim
  • Loomed Lady coat (below) - vintage 60s, thrifted; last seen here a week ago

I was much happier with this blouse today - it helped that I did the buttons right up to the neck.
It looked more professional, and less sloppy.

I also paired it with this new-to-me skinny skirt.
The last time I wore the blouse, I did a drapey skirt with it, and it was just too much volume.

I did tuck just the front of the blouse in. Nice how the pattern is centred both on the front and back of the blouse.
The skirt was lovely to wear. It's a wool/cashmere knit.

Masked up.
Matchy! All these colours are in the orange-red-pinky tones, so I just called it all "coral".

Outerwear - it was really nice out today, although cloudy.
For once, I got my outerwear right! I wear my sunglasses nearly every day - I just forget to take a picture with them on, but be assured...I was incognito.

Accoutrements:
I welcome back this scarf! I first wore it 11 years ago, here in May 2011 - I noted then that I thrifted it for $6.50. You might recognize my yellow leather jacket, my pink tights and my amber ring from that outfit - I still have all of them! Yes, the same pair of tights is still going strong!

  • Scarf - Marc Rozier, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
I love these shoes, but they are getting very worn - this is their 26th wearing - as they are made of waxed canvas, which picks up marks and rubs off. I've been eyeing a pair of Fluevogs to replace them - these ones here, if you're interested. I'm waiting for them to go on sale!

Orange bling:
My orange set returns! Hello, Jell-O Shot necklace!

  • Necklace - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Cuff/ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Steel/lucite ring - Calvin Klein, thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted

And finally, my heart goes out to fellow cat-lovers Vix and Jon (here), who lost their dear Stephen Squirrel this week, at the ripe old age of 17.
Such a beautiful boy. I'm sure he is snuggling up for a nap with dear Frank (lost only 5 months ago!) over the Rainbow Bridge. I shed a few tears for both of them, and for Vix and Jon. It's hard to describe how empty a house feels without a cat.

I hope we have 17 years with our own tuxedo cat.
"I plan on living forever, Woman."

He is 11 this spring, as middle-aged as his people. Our furry family brings us so much joy, but their light shines brightly for only a short time.

  1. Thank you so much for remembering Stephen, Sheila. The house does feel very empty without our darling boys, we both keep catching sight of them in their favourite sleeping places, their presence is still very much felt.
That's a fabulous outfit, very similar to how the cool European women dress in the cities we've visited - flashy shirts and top quality skirts. Loving the Spring-like citrusy vibes with the yellow shoes. xxx

    1. Aw, I've lost some lovely boys myself, Vix, I get it. It's always too soon. We often "see" our old kitties too. *hugs*

Thank you! I like this look.

  2. Oh how sad for Vix :( Our little Cooper is getting on in years and I can't imagine him not being with us - hopefully he has many more happy years with us.

On a brighter note, I love your outfit! The shirt and skirt are so good together, like they were made for each other! :) I haven't emailed you back yet as I have paid for the bag but I haven't heard a single thing so I'm doubting it will turn up...will let you know when I know anything!

    1. I know, you've had Cooper the entire time you've been blogging! I always look for him in your pics.

Thank you so much, Mica! I like this look. Stay positive! Everything's taking longer to send these days.

  3. Dare I say it? That's a boss lady office skirt and blouse. It says you are in charge! Sweet to call out Stephen and Frank. I gave pup extra love after reading Vix post.

    1. Yes! I love it, Sam - it totally is. I know, I gave Vizzini all the cuddles he wanted, and whispered to him about all the kitties who've left us.

  4. Spring colors reign supreme in your outfit and always those colors result in smiles. I especially like the blouse buttoned all the way up as it presents an optical illusion to me. I process the top as a red shirt with a separate floral jacket over it.

Three cheers for the jello necklace!!! Count me as an admirer.

And sweet dreams to Stephen. We have homed two dogs, our first for 16 years, our second for 13. There is always a void after they are gone, be it in the physical space or, as with our dogs, that eager greeting at the door upon our return. Our pets are part of our family.

    1. I love these brights together - they just make me happy. Oh, nice, I can see that now you've pointed it out.

Hee! It completely reminds me of orange Jell-O.

It's so sad...so quiet without them. They really are family.

  5. That blouse is fabulous! Hard to believe it's Zara, but then again they do some nice stuff. I often come across their clothes in charity shops here. It does indeed look less sloppy with the coral skirt, which looks fantastic on you. Also love the orange set, the Jell-O Shot necklace in particular.
I too shed some tears when I read about Vix and Jon losing their beloved Stephen Squirrel. I do remember how empty the house felt when we lost Phoebe, and we kept seeing her everywhere. xxx

    1. I know, every so often, I find a winner by them. Thank you so much! I know you love this necklace too.

It was so sad, and I cried for Phoebe too. We still see our old kitties.

  6. Losing a beloved pet is very hard, I have lost a daughter, and many pets, and I can tell you the pain is intense and sharp, but you latter just remember the pet with such happiness. The child you don't go back there without tears. You just don't go back.

I love how you have that blouse tucked in at the front and then drooping in the back. So, flattering.

    1. Oh, gosh, Kim, I didn't know you'd lost your daughter - that's horrible, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine the pain. *hug*

Thank you - it really helps disguise the middle :).

  7. That's so sad, that you're friends lost their beloved cat. It's very hard to live without them. Our oldest Mainecoon is 15, a real old man. I don't want to think about living without that sweet boy.

  8. I was very sad to see that Stephen Squirrel had passed over the Rainbow Bridge, especially so soon after them losing Frank. My Sylvester is the same age as Vizzini, and I hope I get 17 years (at least) with him.

  9. So sweet of you to dedicate a post to lovely Stephen. He was a beauty. Yes, it's always too soon to part with one's pet, isn't it? Even when they end up living more than is average for their kind, one feels heart-broken. I will miss seeing both Frank and Stephen on Vix's blog- the lads as she would call them (if I remember well). The lads were super cool cats. As for darling Vizzini, I hope he will break all the cat records and live to be 50 years old.

P.S. This coral outfit is stunning. The yellow heels are awesome. Sorry I haven't been commenting, I've been away from blogging.

  10. It's great how the yellow in your top is picked out by the shoes, and then returns in the scarf! You are so good with colours.
