Blue, Birds and Acid Yellow

It's Friday! And I'm making burgers and corn on the cob for dinner, to be followed with some board games, music, drinks - good times, ahoy!

So, let's get started. Here's what I wore to my empty office today.
I've been leaning into really bright colours lately, so I naturally reached for this bright yellow skirt.

  • Silk blouse - Tory Burch, consignment; last seen here multiple times on our trip to Portland, Oregon, in September 2019
  • Skirt - Firenze Santa Barbara, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in June 2019 with a blouse that I put in the giveaway pile (not regretting it)
  • Shoes - Modern Living Slant, Fluevog; first worn here in January with foxy blues
  • Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here in February

I waffled on this blouse last year, but I love it again. It's silk and I love the pattern. It reminds me of feathers...
...which makes sense, since the pattern is birds morphing into other birds - a better look at the pattern here, from when I bought it in August 2016 for $12.50 on a shopping trip with Yvonne. Aw, I miss shopping with my friends!

The acid yellow skirt is pearlized when you see it up close - it's such a classic 80s cut, really high-waisted. I've had many 80s-vintage leather skirts over the years, but the colour on this one is so unusual.
I put my navy blue snakeskin belt over the high waist; I used to do that in the late 80s/early 90s - it was a thing, remember?
As I was poking around in my closet, building this outfit last night, I spotted these perfect shoes. I got all the blues.

We're back into Leather Weather - this cobalt blue coat looked so good with all the blues.
Great in the rain too, if that happened.

It didn't, but I wore my matching blue fedora, because you never pass up the opportunity to wear a matching fedora.
Add a leopard scarf for some pattern interest!

  • Fedora - vintage, thrifted
  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Last year, I had a mission to find blue shoes - I love the funky styling of these ones. That heel is acrylic and wood, and is at the top of my comfort level at about 2.5 inches.

Blue bling:
My blue "set". The belt done up at my waist had a big floppy end, so I put an elastic on it to hold it in place. KLASSY (at least it was blue!).

  • Belt - Club Monaco, vintage fair
  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Earrings - local, Vancouver
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

This morning, I found Vizzini sitting out on the deck. I could see him meowing at me.
"I see you!"

I laughed at how the play-toy on the post is resting on his back.
"My toy loves me."

And now I'm off to enjoy my evening. Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you on Sunday. Thanks for dropping by!

  2. That blouse is stunning. What made you waffle last year? So glad you decided it's a keeper, it pairs wonderfully with that beautiful leather skirt. Those shoes are amazing and must be in L's good books seeing as how they have a decidedly pointy toe. You look smashing.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Perhaps you will be able to spend some time in your new reading nook.

    Keep well.

    1. Thanks, Nana! I just got tired of it, but every time I wore it, I realized I loved it - and when I took it on vacation, I REALLY loved it, so it ended up staying.

Yes, L loves these shoes - he encouraged me to buy them!

I did! I finished another book!

  6. The blue heels are so pretty. I do like a pointy shoes. Plus, that structural heel is so interesting. Definitely a statement heels and I like your blue accessories as well. The blue jacket and the blue fedora are the perfect matching items to bring it all together. I also really like your acid yellow leather skirt. I don't think I've seen that colour on leather often- if at all. This skirt is definitely a keeper. The combination of yellow and blue works so well. Plus, I like your silk blouse, that's a great pattern.
Enjoy your weekend and say hello to Vizzini for me as well.

  8. Well, of course you got dressed up for an empty office! We should all dress up mainly for ourselves, shouldn't we? Love that acid yellow leather skirt and the print on that blouse is all kinds of fabulous. I love how you added that navy belt and those magnificent shoes. That heel! I do that elastic trick with my belts too by the way. I've got a set of different coloured hair elastics which I'm using for that very purpose, although it's not unknown for me to use ordinary elastic if I haven't got the right colour :-) Have a lovely relaxing weekend, my dear! xxx

    1. I have to keep on dressing up, Ann, even though hardly anyone sees me. It's good for me to keep doing it. Ha, glad I am not the only one doing the elastic trick, such Klassy gals we are!

Hope you had a good weekend, my dear!

  9. Love the blue and yellow together! The birds morphing into other birds blouse is really cool too. Burgers and corn on the cob sounds awesome! There's some frozen corn on the cob in the freezer, but no burger ingredients. I might have to put that on the grocery list. Happy weekend to you, L and Vizzini!!

  10. I need more bright block colour skirts like this! I had a few in my cart before all the insanity started so they have sold out now - but I wouldn't have worn them outside the office anyway. The handful of days I have tried to wear them outside the office I've realised they are not best for running around with the kids, haha!

I really like blue and yellow together so I love this outfit on you :)

    1. A few in good solid colours are essential to me, Mica. No, they are not the best with kids around (even the "kids" in an office). Thanks so much!

  12. As you can imagine I ADORE this outfit. Every single item of it. Love the belt on the best colour leather skirt. Beautiful blouse and those shoes... they make the outfit so modern and interesting. I am still having trouble finding shoes at Fluevog because I don't know how they will look on my feet/legs. I need to go to the shop. Online shopping won't do with Fluevog.
Once we are allowed to go out and shop again, I will visit them. I am now retired so I have the time.
