Dark Florals and Double Peplum

Ah, back to work...for a whole day! You might be having a little "deja pink", as I just wore these shoes on the weekend.
The jacket and skirt were also in my fall/winter wardrobe, but before it gets too warm I wanted to give them an outing.

  • Jacket - Simon Chang, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in November 2019 in a velvet rage
  • Skirt - Talbots, thrifted; first worn here in June 2019 with green lace
  • Shoes - Arnold Churgin, thrifted; last worn here on the weekend

And upon searching for my fall/winter outfit featuring this skirt, I discovered...I didn't wear it for that season! Shame on me, as it's a great fall colour mix.
I liked how the dark florals went with this deep green jacket, which has the most wonderful double peplum going on.

I wore a black full vintage slip under the whole shebang for a bit of extra warmth and coverage.
You can see a bit of it peeking out under my skirt there.

Grumpy face. Monday mornings can be a shock to the system!
After hemming and hawing in my closet last night over what shoes to wear with this outfit, I relented and just wore these pink ones again.

No outerwear needed, but I did throw on my cashmere/silk pashmina and my leather gloves for the morning.
I chickened out and wore nylons again too.

  • Pashmina - Portolano, thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment

The stuff:
Bright pink for the win!

Flowery bling:
I pinned the leaf brooch right up against the fabric flower brooch for verisimilitude. So real, ha ha.

  • Floral brooch - Le Chateau (10+ years ago)
  • Leaf brooch - Grandma W (L's grandma)
  • Earrings - gift from coworker Sherri
  • Bracelet - Trifari, vintage 60s, thrifted

  1. The pink shoes really pull the whole ensemble firmly into spring; good choice! I am a big fan of Simon Chang. I've never owned a Simon Chang skirt, but I've had many a pair of pants and I loved them all. The double peplum is terrific.

I remember Monday's face. One of the things I most loved about retiring was never having to face a real Monday morning again! I worked for the same company for 39 years and just before my final two the office moved very far from it's original location and I already lived far from the original office, so in order to beat the traffic I was getting up at 4:00 am. I had a wicked Monday face! Of course now that we're all locked up every day is pretty much the same.

Thank you for the very kind offer of shopping and lunch "if we ever get out of this place"! I would be thrilled and honoured to take you up on that. It would be a pleasure to meet you in person.

I hope you had a pleasant day, even if it was a Monday.

    Keep well.

    1. Thanks, Nana! I knew when I spotted this jacket in the thrift store that it was quality.

Ah, Monday face, ha ha. Wow, that sounds like a crazy commute! I'm thankful for my 20 minute walk!

Yes, let's do it! If you come to Victoria, it's a date. :) You can reach me through my email in my profile.

It was quiet, thank you, just what I needed after an emotional weekend.

  2. Loving today's 1980s vibe, Sheila! The print on your skirt is fabulous and the ruffley bustle ion the jacket is so quirky and fun.
Hope today goes well and you're safe and home in no time.
    Be safe! xxx

  4. That is such a beautiful skirt, I am surprised you didn't give it a wear for autumn! It looks so good with the pink :)

    1. I know - it's because it's very light (it's 100% silk) and it felt too cold for chilly temps. It's really a "shoulder season" piece. I will probably wear it only in April and September!

  7. That's a really great peplum jacket Sheila. The colour is sobering with the exuberant florals on the skirt. Your placing of the leaf with the flower is inspired. Gorgeous Monday outfit.

  9. Oh, that skirt is gorgeous. I couldn't remember you wearing it, so it was a relief to read that you hadn't worn it at all during last season. I would certainly have remembered such fabulousness! A lovely shape too. The Simon Chang is perfect with it, and so are those pink shoes, which I don't mind seeing again so soon. I still haven't been out without nylons - chicken, me - but I haven't had the need for gloves for weeks. And that grumpy face looks quite familiar. I had my grumpy face on on Monday morning as well, and there will be a repeat tomorrow. Take care, Sheila xxx

    1. I think I meant to wear it with a sweater and boots, but then it was just too cold - being 100% silk - that I just shoved it into the spring/summer pile instead.

However, I had this jacket out then, and could have paired them. Sometimes my brain gets in the way! That hot weather now seems very far away, and I'll be wearing nylons still for a while. I have Reynaud's Syndrome, so need gloves for a long time every year.

I'll be grumpy again tomorrow, I'm sure, ha ha! Thanks, Ann.

  13. What a smart yet cute ensemble Sheila. The jacket with the double peplum is indeed the cute while the skirt says smart and those pink courts are the perfect way to tie this up. Hope it chased the Monday blahs away x

  15. Resplendently gorgeous ensemble! That jacket has such wonderful detailing - and the square neckline? An absolute "swoon point", if you will, as well.

In short, I love it all and would 110% wear this stellar look as well.
