Purple Tigers and Kitty in the Sun

Back in the office today - another dead day. I guess I should stop saying that; they are all quiet days now.
Wearing my "power" colour, yellow, to make me feel cheerier. It worked!

  • Blouse - Guess, consignment, Sidney; last seen here when Ali and I saw Glass Tiger (get it??) in June 2019
  • Skirt - Miss V by Valentino, vintage 60s, thrifted, Sidney; part of a suit (here) but last worn here in July 2019 with a banana-bird-butterfly look
  • Shoes - Pearl Hart Bellevue, Fluevog, via Elaine and Cat; last seen here in May 2019 with a smashing orange dress
  • Cerulean coat (below) - vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in February

I'm really missing my friends Cat and Elaine today; I bought this top and this skirt (with the matching jacket) on separate shopping expeditions to Sidney with them. I haven't seen Cat in a month, and haven't seen Elaine since I went to Hamilton, Ontario, last July. I have talked to both of them, but it's not the same.
The pattern on the blouse is purple tigers. Rar! Tigers! While I enjoyed swooshing my sleeves around, no one saw me. I really miss my female colleagues and chatting clothes with them!

I mean, the skirt is VALENTINO, fer gawd's sake! It's wool! You can feel the quality.
Why else would I wear beige? I think this is one of the only beige things in my wardrobe...

Pocket pose. Serious face.
Outerwear - it was a little too warm for this wool coat walking home, but just right in the morning.
It's not lined, just a nice thick wool. It was a gorgeous day out - up to 13 degrees!

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
These shoes also have a Cat/Elaine association. Elaine bought them new, regretted it, so I bought them off her, wore them a bunch, then I gave them to Cat, who also wore them a bunch, then gave them back to me.

Glass bling:
My jewelry set was a birthday gift from L, bought in Venice. Good memories (here).

  • Necklace/earrings - gift from L, Venice, Italy
  • Silver ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/gold ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's

Yesterday afternoon, I spotted Vizzini snoozing out on the deck in the sun. I sat down in the warm sun with him, but he was immediately on Full Alert.
"It's those spots. What are those spots??"

He gets very freaked out with shadows and reflections.
"Is that another cat? Is that me? HOW??"

It blows his little kitty mind.
"Okay, wait just a minute. I think you're behind this, Woman!"

He is a pretty smart cat. Hey, Vizzini, what's making all the sunspots?
"It's that ring right there, you Cat Botherer."

He's totally right - my giant amethyst ring bounces sunspots all over the place. I gave him some playtime chasing spots around, then let him get back to napping.
"That's more like it."

I think it might be time to go play some more!

  1. I love your photos of Vizzini -- cats are obviously smarter than dogs because our grand-dog has yet to figure out that the reflections are coiming from my watch!!!

    1. Thank you, Cynthia! He's hard to capture as he moves so quickly. He's a very smart cat - it's spooky sometimes.

  2. That skirt looks far too good on you to described as "beige"! I love how you've matched it up to your shoes and the sblouse is fabulous, got to love a tiger.
Yopu, Cat and Elaine are going to have so much fun when you finally get to meet up. I'm just hoping we won't lose our shopping skills after so much time away.
Vizzini does look freaked out! Stephen loves torche and disco balls, they can keep him amased for hours!
    Take care, stay safe! xxx

    1. Thank you, Vix! You know I love to be matchy!

I'm sure those skills won't be lost, and YES, I can't wait to see my friends again.

Vizzini gets in a complete frenzy, leaping up walls and running after the spots!

  3. Those purple tigers are the business, Sheila. The skirt is so well cut and made, it's a total winner. I was so taken with the lovely jewellery that I backtracked to your Venice trip. It was so wonderful to see you all enjoying a special holiday in a city that has experienced such tragedy recently. I've been working through sweet memories of trips with my darling husband recently to get through these dark days. Hard to be missing friends, nothing like a meet up in real life! We do have fab days ahead of us all though. And Vizzini and the sunspots.... Hilarious!

    1. Thank you, Juliana! Yes, the quality is apparent, even in pictures. I know, I feel so bad for Venice - I also reread my old post and was taken right back there. I love revisiting those, and am so grateful that I have all these memories on my blog. I hope we'll be able to meet up with our loved ones again soon. In the meantime...we have Vizzini.

  5. It must be hard not being able to chat to your colleagues as much at work! They are trying a few different things to keep us connected and engaged as we all work from home but I'll be honest with the kids at home too I barely have enough time for my normal work, never mind installing all these extra things. I know Cat and Elaine will be missing you as much as you are missing them!

    1. One of my colleagues was in today, and I was so chatty, she could tell I was starved for human contact. I don't have any kind of camera at home (no laptop, no phone), so I can't even face-time with people to see them. You are a superwoman for doing your work and also looking after your kids - wow!

Yes, can't wait to see my friends again.

  6. Every piece is by itself beautiful and each works perfectly with the others and the entirety looks so good on you!

The only silver lining in this whole mess of a pandemic is that it didn't happen pre-internet! Having the ability to "face-time" has been a blessing, but man - the world over there are some big hugs waiting to happen when this is over!

Heehee - just picturing Vizzini chasing shadows! Such an undignified look for such a haughty creature.

    Keep well.

    1. Oh, thank you so much, Nana! I know, I'm very thankful that I'm able to connect with all of you out there through this blog, and that my friends and family can keep up with what I'm doing, but I miss "in person" so much, much more than I thought!

I'm very thankful for my mischievous kitty too - he helps keep me sane. He's a very good hunter of those spots!

  7. Pretty colors. I know what it's like to be out in deserted areas. Spooky. Yesterday I saw a commuter train go by at a railroad crossing and THERE WAS NO ONE ON BOARD. That has never happened before.

    1. Yes, I've seen empty buses go by during peak times...it's so weird. Downtown is still populated but you can cross against any light, or walk down the middle of a usually-busy road. Thanks, hon.

  8. Purple tigers are perfect, but purple tigers on yellow are even better! Who wouldn't be cheered up by this outfit? But I wouldn't call that skirt "beige". It's more of a light brown in my eyes. But being Valentino, who cares what colour it is, anyway. The shoes and the jewellery set are gorgeous too. I've had to go in to work on Monday, when it was really busy, and then again yesterday, when it was absolutely quiet. So quiet, that I was forced to catch up with my blog reading :-) Hope it's a bit better next week, as I live in fear of having my hours even more reduced that they already are. Aww Vizzini! Phoebe's easily fooled like that. I bet Mr. V. is glad to have you home so much. I know Phoebe is! xxx

    1. I so agree, Ann, hooray for purple tigers on yellow! Yes, both you and Vix have asserted that It's Not Beige, and so I will acquiesce. It's not beige.

I haven't really had a busy day in weeks, but it's good for a body to be here, and I'm fine with it being mine! I also get caught up on blog reading (and commenting, shhhh).

Vizzini loves having us around more - he's going to be super-cranky when things go back to "normal".

  9. Our Castor also seeks for the spots of sun on the floor! But he is always laying on his back. I think hè thinks it is his seductive pose!

  10. Love how your toffee-brown skirt matches your shoes (it's too cute to be called 'beige') and love the fabulous purple tigers!. Delightfully matchy!
And so lovely to have friends who wear same size than you!

    1. Thank you, Monica - I totally planned that, of course, and yes, I give in, I will not refer to that skirt as being beige! You know I love my matchy!

Yes, I love that 3 of us have owned these shoes (so far!).

  11. Yes, talking on phone really isn't the same- but I'm happy to have that luxury too. Imagine being completely cut off.

That yellow blouse is so pretty....and I like how you paired it with blue. Blue and yellow is a great colour combo.

Thanks, Ivana! I like the purple with it - the blue of the coat was a nice variant.

  12. To me this skirt looks taupe or sort of brown, not beige.
