Chainmail Top and Purple Leather

Complaining about the weather has become a national pastime, no matter what nation you live in. Breaking news: it's HOT.
So of course I wore a leather skirt. It was fine...until I walked home from work!

  • Top - Linda Lundstrom, thrifted; purchased here for $9.50
  • Skirt - Chia, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in May 2017 with green floral
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here (but only one shoe!) in July for Pride Week, and both shoes worn here in April with autumn greens
  • Jacket (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last worn here last week

Mr. Purryface was all cuddly this morning.
"Must we cuddle in public, Woman?"
We have multiple cuddle sessions every morning, as part of our routine.

Ahem, back to clothes! I'm wearing this new-to-me top - you can see how the wrap does this nice uneven hem thing. I have a purple camisole on under it, as it's quite sheer.
"If I'm not the centre of attention, I'm out of here."
It was slightly snaggy at work, but a bit of pulling on it resolved it. It reminded my coworker Stuart of chainmail. Totally!

First wearing of this purple leather skirt in over a year, but it's not going anywhere.
"Neither am I."
A purple leather skirt with pockets. Keeper!

Outerwear - and oh, it's hot today. I literally dripped sweat on my way home, but at least I was covered up.
It's too hot. I'd like to turn the temps down just a smidge.

  • Hat - thrifted

The stuff:
This is the part where I whine about how much I love these shoes but complain about how they are wearing out (the wax finish is rubbing off). I may take them into my local Fluevog store and see if they can refinish them.

Sparkly bling:
I added the orange shoes once I decided to wear this necklace - it has bits of orange and peach in it.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - c. 1996?
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Amethyst/gold ring - Dad's, Frances Jewelers, c. 1965

I noticed one of the earrings was missing the crystal, then spotted Vizzini nosing around it on the carpet. I've fixed it (and my separated turquoise earring from the weekend). Phew!

  3. Love your your statement necklace tied it all together, and the purple skirt is such a stunning piece! I hope that things cool down for you soon! It's so cold here so I wouldn't mind you sending the heat my way, haha! If only!

    1. I know! Even if I don't wear it that much, the pockets are enough to sway me. I love purple and orange together - such a smashing combination.

  5. There's this great product called Otter Wax that would work on your shoes. It's all natural and super easy to work with. Comes from Oregon but there are probably local sources.

    Always enjoy your work.

    1. Thanks, Peggy! I found a store that carries it, so I will check that out if Fluevog can't refinish my shoes.

  6. My first thought when I saw your post pop up in my reading list was, oh yeah! Then, when I scrolled through your post, it was, wow! Purple and orange, what a fantastic pairing, and then the silvery, sparkly top in between! And the necklace really pulls it all together! I do hope you can get the shoes refinished, it's always heartbreaking to lose a favourite pair. It was a bit chilly here today but I am NOT complaining, it's been far too hot for far too long. xxx

    1. Aw, thank you, Ann! It's actually orange wax that coats them, and it's coming off on only one shoe. Such a pain! Glad to hear your temps are bearable again!

  7. Purple leather skirt with pockets! Orange comfy shoes! Sparkly top! I quite admire the combo and the outfit sites beautifully on your frame. :)

As for the weather, OMG (probably the first time I have EVER used that abbreviation!) it has been close to unbearable in NY. I’ve convinced Fred we need to price installation of mini-splits for future summers. Our wall units are no longer sufficing. Sheesh.

    1. Thanks, Laurie! I love unexpected colour combos like this.

OMG, welcome to the club! No one here has air conditioners - we don't have one at home, just a rinky-dink fan.

  8. Perfect shoes, perfect skirt. Great class. Quite a risk though, cuddling your cat while wearing a knitted top....

  9. I totally agree. Holy smokes! This is not you being full of yourself. This is how you look and kudos to you. I love the sheath dress and also that beautifl maxi. I am sorry, however, that the maxiskirt got dirty. Please take care of your leg and enjoy that wonderful, luxurious pillow. LOL.

  11. I thought you were wearing that cool cross top over a dress -that is, until i read it was two pieces. As much as i like purple and orange i never wear it because its the colours of a political party here.
