I was off work yesterday, home sick. Whatever this illness is, it's nasty. I'm completely sapped of energy. L is also sick, but it's hit his throat/chest (I always get hit in the sinuses).
This is what I'd planned to wear Monday, anyway.
Yes, I'm wearing long sleeves and boots - in August! Our temps are back down to normal (low 20s), and the haze is all gone. Our ocean breeze is back, huzzah!- Blouse - Topshop, thrifted new w/tags; purchased here for $24.25
- Skirt - See By Chloe, consignment; last worn here (4th outfit) earlier this month
- Boots - Vog Together, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in June with a very short skirt
I will admit, it's a lot of coverage for an August day. I'm often seasonally inappropriate.
I liked this new top - it was quite comfortable, and it steamed out nice and silky smooth. I do think it will look better with a slimmer or shorter skirt, but I was fine with this over-the-top boho look.
Getting another wear in of this gorgeous skirt before summer is fully over.
Sandals felt too bare with all the clothing coverage, so what the heck, boots it is!
How I really felt going to work today.
I would rather be back in bed |
The stuff:
I love these boots. Very comfy, even going up and down stairs (our building had to evacuate due to a fire alarm! No fire, just working on the elevators).
Old bling:
Nothing newer than 1996!
- Amber ring - c. 1996
- Jade/brass ring - 1970s, Mom's
- Earrings - LA Express, 1994
I slept most of yesterday - Vizzini kept me company, but took a break to snooze in the sun on the deck.

Such a gorgeous outfit -- love the snake blouse and that skirt is amazing. Hope you and L. are both feeling better!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Cynthia! Very kind of you - we appreciate it!
DeleteI love the skirt and top together. So sorry to hear you're unwell though - I hope you're able to recover quickly!
ReplyDeleteWe're slogging through, Mica, thank you. I liked this combo too.
Deletehope you and L. are feeling better!, being sick in summer is even worse!
ReplyDeleteI love your blouse, the details are amazing, and it matches so nicely with your skirt!. I don't know if it's 'seasonal appropriate', but it's a lovely outfit!
besos
Thanks, Monica - it really sucks!
DeleteThank you - I'm looking forward to wearing the blouse again. Long sleeves + the dark colour = seasonally not appropriate to me. :)
A great outfit - I hope that you will soon be feeling much better
ReplyDeleteThank you on both counts, Rebecca!
DeleteThat blouse is amazing, Sheila! It looks great with that pretty skirt. Hope you guys feel better soon and that Vizzini gives you lots of cuddles! XXX
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sasha - I love the beaded detail on it.
DeleteThanks, Vizzini has been very affectionate with us. It's like he knows we're sick.
Rest up so you can recover quickly!!!! That top is absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky! I know, what a great find that top was!
DeleteThat snake blouse is looking even better on! Hope you'll both feel better soon. I missed you yesterday. I was in bed about to drop off when I was suddenly wide awake, thinking, did I miss Sheila's post today? No joke, it really happened! Oh, and I wore boots too last weekend! xxx
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing? Thanks, Ann!
DeleteAw, nice to be missed, thank you! Ha, here's to boots in August!
We think alike! I also wore green! Hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds, Nancy! Thank you so much!
DeleteThat green snake motif blouse is sumptuous with that stunning skirt. Such beautiful details and that color is so rich and yet somehow a little bit neutral. I am really sorry to hear that you are unwell. Now that I know you have the flu I am worried about you. Please stay home and stay hydrated. Rest up and enjoy. That’s an order my friend !!!

Thanks, Elle! I love the colours and am looking forward to pairing this for fall with browns. I'll be fine, but yes, order noted!
DeleteI think this is flowy and beautiful Sheila! I am wondering how it would look with shirt tucked in.
ReplyDeleteCannot tuck it in, Lorena - it has no stretch, so it needs that leeway for me to move my arms.
DeleteVery pretty outfit Sheila - it has a nice "Victorian" vibe about it. I am very familiar with the "I would rather be in bed" face.
ReplyDeleteOh, good call - I've always been fond of the Victorian look. Hee!
