Jelly-Deer and Gold Pleats

Thanks, everyone, for your comments on yesterday's "What about this top?" question - I appreciate your candor! I've put it in the giveaway pile (those of you who've known me a long time could have predicted that, heh heh). It was limited wear, didn't spark my creativity, wasn't that great on me, and I have a fall/winter version of it already, that's vintage, wool and hand-beaded (this beauty by Adrienne Vittadini). I only paid $12.99 for the neoprene top, so I'm totally fine with $6.50 per wear, and off it will go to someone who will love it. It's fashion karma!

And the world turns, and a new outfit appears.
Ha, yes, I am wearing a sweater! A very thin one, but a sweater nonetheless. I work in an air-conditioned office all day.

  • Sweater - Kersh, print by Pina, thrifted; last seen here in May as Princess Jelly-Deer
  • Skirt - Gap, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
  • Shoes - Down to Earth Hadfield, Fluevog; last worn here (4th outfit) in July for shopping
  • Blazer (below) - Vero Moda, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in June for the Day of Indolence

All hail the Jelly-Deer! This top has many admirers. It's a navy blue with sparkle thread. A lot of people like that the jelly-fish-deer matches my glasses.
First wearing of this lovely golden-mustard skirt - it was nicely swooshy to wear. I'll be popping it into the fall/winter pile after today, though. It reads as very autumnal, even though it was perfectly fine for summer. I have other summer things I still want to wear before they are packed away in a month.

A bow at the back! AW, said Fiona, my coworker (and fellow skirt-lover).
I wore a black half-slip under the skirt, even though it's lined, as it's a bit big in the waist on me, and I wanted the extra midsection coverage.

I wore the velour blazer just for sunblock, but ended up wearing it off and on all day in my chilly office.
It's a rich burgundy colour - sorry, the light right now is whack due to smoke haze.

The stuff:
Wonderfully comfy shoes. These have proven to be shockingly versatile - I've worn them close to 20 times in the 3 years since I bought them.

Copper bling:
I liked how the copper harmonized the gold and navy with the shoes' pattern.

  • Copper ball cuff - vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Enameled cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Earrings - vintage expo

Another busy weekend coming up, starting with tomorrow. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Thank you so much for visiting! I will be back with my Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up on Sunday.

  3. This skirt colour is very versatile and will look more summery with a white or cream top, or maybe even a light blue. Lise

    1. Thank you, Lise, I think so too. Yes, it would probably be good with both of those, but I have a LOT of summer skirts. Maybe it will be worn again this summer, but probably not.

Hi, Sheila. Always reading, but a bit thin on the ground lately (life!).

    1. Nice to see you, Velma! It's my fave too. I hope you're doing okay! Ink all done?

    2. Finished the ink in January--I'm very happy with it. I'm plotting my next one (by my artist's wife/co-owner of the shop).

Our 15yo is in residential treatment for an eating disorder. After two months, she is so much better, but it's been a long slog for all of us. She is far away (~650 miles), and I'm traveling back and forth while my husband stays there.

So ... life. Taking care of the loved ones and keeping the home fires burning.

    3. That's really exciting! I'm maybe a year away from thinking about more - I'm looking at the backs of my calves.

Oh, wow, that's some really tough stuff with the teen. Good vibes to you, my dear.

  5. I love how the jelly-deer matches your glasses! That skirt is so nice on you too, even if you do decide to pack it away for cooler weather! :) Not surprised you got rid of the top - you do have many more to love! :)

  6. Hi Sheila, am late to chiming in on yesterday’s top but suffice it to say imho it didn’t do anything for you and the other top you linked to has much more pizzazz. Meanwhile, this outfit looks super comfy, and I completely understand the a/c aspect of work. When I return to school next week I’ll be in the same situation of a/c. Brrr!

I hope the air clears soon. In Olympia Robin has been dealing with multiple days of unhealthy air quality. Between thinking of the Ents in Lord of the Rings and having just read The Hidden Life of Trees, am wincing on behalf of the burning forests.

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Yeah, ultimately I agree, Laurie! Thank you for weighing in. :) Must feel weird for you to being back to work!

It's been awful here - I feel like I'm sick, with clogged lungs and sinuses. I feel for the EARTH.

  7. Love the jelly deer jumper and how it matches your glasses. The skirt is fabulous and would offer great possibilities in autumn, but I think it works really well in summer too, perhaps combined with a pale blue? I'm pleased to hear you've made your decision on yesterday's top. Life's too short and all that ... Wishing you a wonderful weekend! xxx

    1. Thanks, Ann! Yes, pale blue and gold is a great combo - I may do that. I'm pretty quick and decisive when it comes to new items, but I was on the fence a bit with this one. Happy weekend to you, my dear!

  9. Oh I absolutely love this mustard pleated skirt - I see why you'd rather sport it for fall but I can see me wearing it for the summer with a tank, with the bow on the side or in the front... with a light pink tee.... You've got me started!
