Two-Fer: Alice in Wonder Woman, and Crazy Pink

Today, the air is hazy, and it's hard to breathe - it's very smoky from all the forest fires in the province. Ugh!
My discombobulated outfit reflects my state of mind. All over the place!

  • Jacket - H&M, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in June for lunch with Mom
  • T-shirt - DC Comics, thrifted; it's really just for casual now, no longer tracked
  • Skirt - Marc Jacobs, thrifted; last seen here in May with a really heavy sweater
  • Shoes - Aldo, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $16.95

Shoulders, a graphic tee...
 Pleats, socks and strappy shoes.

A bit of everything.
I waggled my shoulders at all my coworkers.

The stuff:
Lovely shoes - not a single problem wearing them today. I enjoyed the decadent and rebellious feeling of wearing socks with them! Would you ever try that?

  • Earrings - Le Chateau

I'm off shortly to see "Crazy Rich Asians" with some friends. I don't really want to go back outside.
That's a skeptical look...I don't like the haze. My lungs are all clogged up. Feels like a hairball, but it's smoke and ash.

  • Silk blouse - INC, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in July for our trip to Powell River
  • Pants - Ralph Lauren, consignment; last worn here in April for a trip to the periodontist
  • Shoes - Born, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in July with yellow for dinner
A silk blouse for the heat and for sun coverage (even though it's vaguely orange through the smoke).

Pants for sitting in the theatre.

Nothing terribly exciting.
But it's better than no effort at all.

The stuff:
Trading big hoop earrings for bigger hoop earrings!

  • Earrings - gift from Simar

  1. All the smoke sounds awful. Adorable puff sleeve jacket and I love the anklets with the heels!

    1. It's pretty bad - we just need a bit of a breeze to blow it along. Thanks, Becky!

  2. The sockettes are adorable and unexpected under those shoes. I love how you gain energy from going against the societal fashion grain! I'm not that brave, Sheila. Are there fires every year, typically, like there seem to be in California, or is this unusual? It seems quite scary. I'm unfamiliar with wildfires. In St. Louis, Mo, where I love, we're more prone to tornadoes, flooding, and the odd earthquake.

    1. Thank you, Mel-Bee! I'm not afraid to fail - that's my biggest challenge, to put myself out there and try something that is a bit scary, like socks with shoes.

Yes, we have fires every year - the smoke is not usual, although we had it last year too. Oh, we are also in an earthquake zone! How fun!

  3. sorry to hear about those fires, so terrible!, hope they can be put out asap!
And I love your red jacket, such a fabulous shape and lots of attitude waggling your shoulders (mwahaha). And it looks fab with the pleated skirt, the sockettes and the new shoes!. You rock!

    1. I hope so - but it's close to 600 fires in the province (it's a huge place).

Thank you, Monica! It's an amazing piece that I've had for years.

  4. Those fires sound horrible, I hope they're soon extinguished.
Love the shoulders on that jacket, such a great shape.
Ankle socks with shoes and skirts are a big thing here - usually glittery or fishnet. My ankles are usually hidden so it'd be a waste of sock! xxx

    1. Once we get some (much-needed) rain, it'll be better. However, the air quality is just awful right now.

I love the jacket - so fun! Oh, good to know! I will have to try this look some more.

  5. Hope the smoke goes away soon Sheila! We've had a few big fires where the smoke and haze has settled over Brisbane - it's not nice at all and I can't imagine what it's like actually being in or fighting those fires! Hope you enjoyed the movie! I've heard lots of great things about it.

    1. I know someone who is a firefighter - I could never do that!

The movie was fun, but it's fluff. Good for the oldsters.

  7. This year's fires are so awful. Wishing you all lots of rain, very very soon.

I love socks with strappy shoes. That whole outfit was very Old Hollywood to my eye, so fun!

Thank you so much, Julia! Old Hollywood? I will take that!

  8. Kailani calls dibs on this WW shirt when you are ready to put it in the give away pile :) WW is her absolute fav. How was the movie - I saw the preview when we were out on date night this weekend and it looked hilarious.

    1. Ha! I might just pass it along - I don't wear it much and I forget that I have it. :)

The movie is pretty fluffy - I enjoyed it in the same way I enjoyed "Mama Mia."

  9. What a fun outfit, Sheila. To my mind, it's a bit 1980s does 1950s. The jacket is fantastic, can hardly believe it's H&M, and I love the ankle socks worn with your red strappy shoes! I quite like your theatre outfit too, what a lovely blouse! Those forest fires sound horrible, I do hope they get them under control soon. xxx

    1. Ooh, I like that, thank you, Ann. :) I know, H&M has surprised me a few times - this jacket is really luxe and very well-made.

Yes, good vibes on the fires. Thanks!

  10. I've seen photos of the haze in the air in BC from the fires - how horrible to be breathing that stuff in. I hope you get a good rain to help extinguish them.

I just love that first outfit. It's one of my favourite colour combos, and it has a wonderfully whimsical vibe.

    1. We're getting much less than the interior, but it's still really horrible to be breathing in smoke!

      Thank you so much, Shelley.

  11. Nooo, I hope the Forest fires aren't causing too much damage. I absolutely LOATHE the smell of smoke-it always makes me get headaches and sticks to my hair! Your outfits are lovely. I like all the textures of the first one- fluffy bit, pleats and straps- you are chanelling Dorothy with the socks and red shoes!

    1. Not in my city, but elsewhere in my province, much like in California. :(

      Thank you so much!

  12. This pink outfit has me a bit underwhelmed. It is lovely of course, the blouse especially, but not nearly as special as most of your outfits in all of your hundreds of inspiring posts.
The first outfit, however, is fabulously all over the place, in a stupendous, runway sort of fashion. Totally Sheila - fashion goddess.
Take care of those lungs . The weather is so alarming and unhealthy.

    1. Yes, I agree, Elle, thank you for your forthrightness! It's a VERY simple outfit, only intended to sit in a dark theatre for 2 hours!

Thanks! It was a fun and fluffy outfit. :)

  13. Oh check out that skirt...
Totally want to see that movie !
I cannot imagine how terrible it must be to have forest fires - specially close to home.

    1. The skirt is amazing - very well-made (in the US!).

The movie was...okay. Fun, but nothing that amazing.

It's pretty scary! Although my city is not at risk, there are a lot of small communities that are.
