Good News!

Firstly, I'm fine - we got a 1 meter surge from the tsunami that hit Japan, but no one is hurt, no damage. Thank you everyone for your concern. I live on the West coast, so there is always a risk of an earthquake or a tsunami here, but you can't live your life in fear. If it happens, it happens.

Secondly, much better news! I called the company this morning (and thank you everyone for your encouragement and good vibes) and they sent me an offer this morning. It's a great offer and I'm accepting. I start next Wednesday!

I'm off shortly to drop off my accepted offer and other various forms, and then I am going shopping! I am going to reward myself with one of these gorgeous Desigual jackets (there's a shop in town that carries them).

I'm so glad to have an excuse to wear one of my new items - this lovely skirt:
This was one of the most expensive "thrift" items I bought yesterday at $22.00. But...it's real suede, and it's washable, just like my other suede skirt. I also love the colour - it's a nice sand shade - and the midi length, which I hear is all the rage among the cool kids these days.

I look so happy. I feel happy!

Second wearing of my thrifted Mexx top:
I wore it last here, also with a suede skirt (I'm getting quite a collection!). Also my second wearing of my gorgeous red boots (last seen here).

It's warm enough now to just wear a blazer as a jacket:
Such a nice dark burgundy! Last seen here.

I realized after I took these pictures that I forgot to put my jewelry on! D'oh! Here it is:
Gold hoops and my tree necklace.

Jacket (Zara, consignment), top (Mexx, thrifted), cami (Mexx, thrifted), skirt (Skotts Suede, thrifted), boots (Miz Mooz), necklace (Foxy), earrings (gift from L).

  3. Congratulations on the new job! We didn't see much of a tsunami surge in San Francisco either (though Santa Cruz, south of here, did get some damage, as well as Crescent City in Nor Cal). I feel sad for the people in Japan, but we who live on the Pacific room all know that earthquakes come with the territory.

  8. CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so happy for you. And that skirt is amazing. I rather did the opposite than you: after finding that I hadn't landed a job in which I was interested, I bought four books and two necklaces. :) I can't wait to hear about your first impressions of your new JOB! Congrats again!

  25. Aw, thanks so much to all you guys for your kind good wishes.

Kari, thanks, it's doing project admin for an IT company. Thanks for commenting!

Kasmira, I know, it's much more casual so I'm not sure what I'll do.

Tizzy, thanks! Glad you're fine down there - exactly, it's a fact of life here. Thank you for commenting!

Cynthia, thanks! Luckily, Canada is not quite as bad off as the US, but the job market is really tough in my town.

Scary, thanks! I know - it's a weight off my shoulders.

Rebecca, thank you. I am happy to abandon outerwear in favour of regular jackets and blazers. Yes, I'm also very thankful that there was no damage here.

Thanks, Megan! I posted the jacket today - I couldn't wait to wear it.

Chalkdust, thank you! Ha, you did a consolation reward, I like that! Books are good for that.

Thanks, Christa! I know, it will be weird to be back into full-on daily blog mode again. I exist for your viewing pleasure, haha.

Thank you, Eileen! That's very sweet of you.

Pam, woo hoo, thank you! I will be carefully choosing my Day 1 look - I don't want to scare them! Ah, my heart goes out to the people who got hit with the tsunami.

    Ray, thank you!

Rad, thank you - I feel pretty darned good, I tell ya.

    Paula, thank you!

Thanks, Allison! I like your blog - thank you for visiting!

Anne, thanks! I should really wear this jacket more...

    Thanks, LaShaune!

Shy, it was you, I know it! You made them call! Thank you so much for your concern - I really appreciate it (*hug*).

Thanks, Terri! Both of my washable suede skirts have polyester linings, which is the number one reason why they are washable. Both of them are machine wash, cold water, delicate, and tumble dry, low heat, delicate. They come out perfect!

    Freeda, thanks!

Yolande, thank you so much. Thank you also for commenting!

Tanya, thank you, sweetie! No leopard in the Desigual line that I've seen, but I did find a FAB jacket.

Kristen, thank you for your awesome support, hon.

    Rebecca, thanks! Yay!

Thanks, Wendy! I think you will like my choice.

Thanks, Wendy! You know this means that I'm going to buy some of your jewelry once I get my first paycheque.

  27. Ooo, very nice new suede skirt. I finally found a really nice washable one, but, it probably won't fit much longer. I'm still debating what to do. Get rid of it or have it taken in. I might just wait to see if I can find a new one. I really like all the burgundy with the sand color. Very nice! (Oh, as mentioned in your more recent post, CONGRATULATIONS!!!)

  28. Thanks, Jody!

    Rita, thanks so much!

Alison, check and see what it costs to alter suede - it can be expensive, so you might be better off just consigning it. Yay, thank you!

  29. OMG!!!
    Congratulations ! Felicidades !
I knew that job was yours :)
We were also lucky, we were not hit.
But it's actually one of the first tsunami warnings we had, SO I WAS TERRIFIED - and living so close to the ocean maximized my fear.

  30. Thank you, Lorena! Oh, gosh, I know, it reminds you how fragile everything can be, doesn't it?
