Swing Pleats and a Miss

I like this outfit in pictures much better than I liked it in person.
This leather jacket is too big on me to wear as a blazer; it felt awkward all day.

  • Leather jacket - Danier, consignment; last seen here in June 2022 for a Mom-Day Adventure
  • Bodysuit - Madewell, thrifted; last worn here in June 2022 with cobalt and palazzo pants
  • Skirt - Mac & Jac, consignment; first seen here with double dots in April 2022 (on a snowy day!)
  • Boots - Prepare 2.0 Tracker, Fluevog; last worn here in December 2022 with sheer blacks
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in November 2022

I also tried this swingy, pleated skirt for winter, and had just as much trouble styling it as I did when I first wore it in the summer. It's a miss! Into the giveaway you go.
"I hear something."

I had no problem with the length (dang, my legs look good there!), I loved the fabric and the pleats are awesome. But it isn't me.

You can see how baggy the back of the jacket is on me. It works better over a thick sweater (I plan to illustrate it when I get my art mojo back).
"It sounds like CATS!"

Vizzini was transfixed in this spot all morning - we could not figure out what was bugging him, nor could we move him from that spot.

Masked up:
I'm wearing a navy blue bodysuit and tights - I never intended on opening the jacket.

Outerwear.
It was supposed to rain today, so I wore my best leather trenchcoat anticipating being soaked. It did not rain a drop. However, nice to see my groovy vintage leather coat again. I've had this for years.

Accoutrements:
I decided I don't like the blue toque, and I don't LOVE the wool scarf. I weed out my accessories too.

  • Scarf - Pierre Cardin, vintage, thrifted
  • Toque - Eddie Bauer
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Amazing boots. These are a favourite pair - I get to be tall, but the actual heel is low.

Minimal bling:
I remembered the long sleeves on the jacket so skipped bracelets.

  • Necklace - Myka, thrifted
  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Kyanite/silver ring - consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

The Mystery of the Rapt Cat was solved when I found out that we have a new neighbour...with two cats.
"I TOLD you it was cats!"

It's likely they put the litter box in their laundry room too, since their condo is a mirror of ours.

  1. Cats in Vizzini's hood! No wonder the poor love's distracted. See 'em off, fella!
Love the leather trench and those amazing boots. I could see that skirt working with that fabulous Phool maxi waistcoat (if you can wrangle it off L) but if you ain't feeling it, it needs to go. xxx

  2. Pretty amazing Vizzini could pick up on the new cats! Hope they are good neighbours and the cats don't have the zoomies all at the same time in the middle of the night! I do like that skirt but if you're not enjoying it and you didn't feel right the last time you wore it either, definitely better to let it go! I like how ruthless you are with your wardrobe, I try to do that myself but it's not always easy. I bought a bunch of clothes at the opshop sale before Christmas, and I got quite a few pieces for Christmas too so I'm going to need to be stricter with what stays in my wardrobe! So far I've only removed 2 dresses, but I am going to try think of a few things every month I can remove so I have a wardrobe just of things I love :)

  3. I've lost count of the times I like outfits better in pictures than in person!
I am hearing you on the skirt, though. I think it's lovely, but I don't think it's you. Onto the giveaway pile it goes!
The leather jacket is a great piece though, and will be even better once you've worked your magic on it.
The stars of your outfit, of course, are the leather trench and those amazing boots!
The star of this post, however, must be Vizzini! How amazing he picked up the scent of your new neighbours' cats! I do hope he isn't too traumatized by them! xxx

  4. Oh boy, Vizzini is no longer king of the castle. Poor boy. Give him some extra treats Sheila!

  5. I love the colours in this outfit, the red skirt contrasts so well with lighter items and I love the red shoes. I hope Vizzini gets used to his new cat neighbours. Maybe it provides some stimulation for him and anyhow he still has his territory all to himself.
