Leopard and Red Ruffles

Back to work today - and it took me most of the day to work through all of my emails (70+, not too bad).
I also took the office Christmas tree down.

  • Blouse -  L'Wren Scott "A Tropical Conversation" FW 2011, thrifted; last seen here in January 2022 with a plaid skirt
  • Blazer (below) - Talbots, thrifted; last worn here in March 2022 with Boss Lady Pants
  • Skirt - Ganni, pre-Spring/Summer 2019, consignment; purchased here for $85.00
  • Shoes - Mini Qtee, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in November 2022 with gold velvet and mohair
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last worn here in November 2022

First wearing of this new-to-me skirt, and it was AWESOME.
It did not unwrap on me and stayed where I wanted it to.

As it has a very high "paper bag" waist, I had to wear a blouse I could tuck into it.
This lovely red blouse is one of the treasures in my wardrobe. I adore the ruffles down the front.

I added a brown velvet blazer in case I was chilly in the office.
I was! I took it off when I started heaving around boxes later in the day.

Masked up.
My colleague Stuart noted, "Your mask totally matches your skirt." Yup, I'm matchy that way!

Outerwear:
Not much else I can wear over a velvet blazer - this sleeveless coat is so useful for avoiding Velvet Rage!

Accoutrements:
It was not overly cold today, and I walked fast (getting going in the morning was a challenge!).

  • Beret - Parkhurst, consignment
  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Gloves - Echo, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Comfy shoes - there's a line of red piping trim, see it?

Gold bling:
The bit of red in the belt worked well against the leopard.

  • Belt - Emmanuel, thrifted
  • Necklace - Anne Klein, vintage 80s, Grandma J's
  • Bracelet - fake Gucci, vintage 80s, gift from Mom & Dad from Italy
  • Brutalist ring - vintage mall
  • Snake double ring - consignment; purchased here for $15.00
  • Earrings - thrifted

The eagle-eyed among you will notice at what point I remembered to put my earrings on! And how's your 2023 starting off?

  1. Oh lala! That's a fab outfit! The red accents really elevate the leopard print.
Glad the return to work wasn't too taxing. xxx

  2. I really like the red and leopard together and I love the paper bag waist on the skirt! it's good it was a pleasure to wear too. I have a paper of paper bag waist shorts I thrifted last month I'm going to need to try wear a belt with them next time I wear them! :)

  3. Reading this while my oatmeal cooks, so Eagle eyes are not yet engaged ;) though I did scroll backwards and chuckled at my lack of observation, especially as I, too, am an earring wearer and tend to notice earrings first. Three cheers for a properly functioning and fun skirt!

Good morning or afternoon or evening, whenever you read this. :) Our older son and grandchildren head home tomorrow, and today marks an important medical meeting for Fred where we will learn about what comes next in his treatment. He/we have been buoyed by having family here, and I have devoured your posts as a balm!

Cheers from an unusually warm 28 miles north of NYC,

  5. It's hard to get going after the holidays, isn't it? And I know catching up on emails is a drag, although I do think 70+ isn't too bad. Anyway, your outfit couldn't have been more perfect, the skirt and your fabulous L'Wren Scott blouse are just made for each other. And duh, of course you're wearing a matching mask! I noticed the sudden appearance of the earrings by the way :-) My 2023 started off ok, my return to work wasn't too traumatic, but I could do with less rain! xxx
