Murder Mystery and Triple Snakes

I'm surprised it's taken me this long this season to wear this amazing dress.
It has one of the best patterns I've ever seen. It's the Murder Mystery Dress!

  • Dress - Scotch & Soda by Maison Scotch, consignment; last worn here in August 2022 with pops of red
  • Boots - Clarks; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2022 with brown and gold
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather; last worn here in July 2022

I harrumphed when I saw the backward hanger as I was browsing in my closet. Tsk! Should have worn it sooner!
The style of the dress is...fine. I would have liked more fabric in the skirt, and deeper pleating. And POCKETS. B-

The fabric is white on the back (you know I hate that) and it tends to snag a bit. It does swish nicely. C+
But the pattern! Oh, the glorious pattern! It's a square of four "cartouches" of our murder suspects - go here for the pics of when I bought it, with full descriptions. A+++, could stare at it for hours.

Masked up.
I've now worn caramel belt/boots with it, and previously red and blue. What would you wear with this dress?

Outerwear.
I was a little chilly - the dress is a thin fabric and needed a warmer coat. Must walk faster!

Accoutrements:
Some faves.

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Hat - gift from Tammy
  • Brooch - Monet, vintage fair
  • Gloves - Ralph Lauren, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These are the Best Caramel Boots - I've had them for 9 years!

Snaky bling:
There are snakes in the dress' pattern, which made me think of my belt...which led me to my necklace and my ring.

  • Belt - Notes du Nord, thrifted
  • Necklace - vintage expo
  • Earrings - Biko, consignment
  • Wooden ring - Dots
  • Snake ring - consignment
  • Kyanite ring - consignment; purchased here for $30.00

It's a triple!

  1. Oh yes, I love that dress, too. the print is sublime despite the dreaded white backing (I hate that, too!) Those boots are gorgeous! xxx

  2. Now, you need to have one of your fabulous get togethers to pair the dress with. Love the boots with it.

  3. I do remember that dress and its print is absolutely brilliant, making up for its relatively minor issues. Oh and do I hate white backing too! Fabulous snaky bling and those are indeed the best caramel boots I've seen in a long time. That heel would be just right for me! xxx

  6. That dress is incredible! If you ever go to an organised Murder Mystery evening, you have to wear it!
Your snake necklace is a stunner and my practical side is appreciating the tread on those boots. x

  7. It is a beautiful pattern and even if it doesn't score as highly on other areas, I love it and think it's definitely a keeper! I feel yellow would work well with this dress but that might not be an option for you until warmer weather arrives when you don't need boots!
While I'm focusing on my 30 wears challenge more than trying to wear everything I own each season, I am noticing quite a few pieces in my wardrobe that don't really get worn much, even without the hanger trick. this year I'm trying to be firmer with deciding what stays and what goes, even if I haven't hit 30 wears yet with pieces! I got a lot of beautiful clothes for Christmas so I went through and tried to remove an equal amount of older clothes I haven't worn in over a year. It will be a work in progress for this year I think!
