White Shirt, Floral Toes and Tie

Today's weather did not cooperate with my outfit choice! This is very much a spring-weight ensemble.
But it dipped down to 2 degrees today - during the day! Brrr!

  • Shirt - Eddie Bauer, consignment; purchased here for $28.00
  • Skirt - Max Mara, consignment; last worn here in October 2022 with rage-inducing velvet
  • Shoes - Blaise Poser, Fluevog; purchased here for $203.99 in gift cards
  • Mink coat (below) - thrifted; last seen here at Winesday

Of course, I built the outfit around these new shoes.
Said shoes are very firmly in the spring/summer side of my wardrobe. I have loads of orange in my wardrobe right now, so the skirt wasn't an issue (I also could have worn trousers!).

But you can tell I really had to work to get an outfit out of my fall/winter closet.
I resorted to a white shirt! This new-to-me shirt is...a good white shirt.

I splashed grapefruit on it while eating lunch, so into the wash it goes.
I also layered a cami underneath for maximum warmth.

My mask actually worked to pull everything together.
I have almost no blue (of that shade) in my closet.

This is more like what I needed all day. I'd planned on wearing the matchy blue jacket that I wore on the weekend...
But it was too danged cold. Bust out the mink - I'm freezing!

Accoutrements:
That scarf was not warm enough and was far too bulky.

  • Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's
  • Scarf - V. Fraas, thrifted

Off to the giveaway it goes.

The stuff:
Aren't the shoes amazing? They were very comfortable, although I had a super-busy day and didn't stray far from my desk.

Menswear bling:
I was forced to raid L's tie box (making sure there wasn't a sleeping kitty in it first!), but did dig up this wonderful yellow/green/chartreuse tie, which matched the shoes fabulously. I have florals from toe to tie!

  • Tie - Ted Baker, thrifted
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Sodalite/silver ring - Scotland, 1996
  • Earrings - vintage 50s, Grandma S's

And now I've tucked those shoes away until I unpack my spring/summer wardrobe at the end of March/early April. Can't wait to rediscover them!

  1. Yay, new shoes! Don't they look fabulous with your Spring-y office gear? What a shame the weather didn't play ball! xxx

  3. I love this first outfit with the shoes - the tie is perfect! It's a shame it wasn't warm enough for it, even with your beautiful coat to keep you warm! I look forward to seeing the shoes when they come back out in warmer weather! :)

  4. The shoes are indeed a lot of fun. They wouldn't suit my flat feet (they need to be more open towards the toes) but they look good on you. Very springlike vibe.
