Office Camo, Snoots and Secret Horses

L thought I looked like camo this morning - and it's true, I've been in the doldrums lately, and this is my version of blending in.
All neutrals, how unlike me!

  • Jacket - Julie Haus, Fall 2011 RTW Collection, thrifted; last worn here in January 2022 with swirls and marigold
  • Sweater tank - Eileen Fisher, thrifted; last seen here in September 2021
  • Suede skirt - Ann Taylor, thrifted; last worn here in October 2021 with corporate olive
  • Snoots - Ivylee, consignment; first seen here in November 2022 with yellow
  • Eclipse coat (below) - Welsh, consignment; last worn here in December 2022

However, this outfit was actually inspired by my snoots (snakeskin boots - do you have snoots? Ann does!).
And then I started browsing to see what I could wear with them. Both this jacket and the suede skirt are "first wears" of the season.

I'm halfway through my fall/winter closet season, and the as-yet-unworn things are sticking out to me - of course, I can see them due to the hanger trick (backward = unworn, forward = worn).
I adore this fun jacket - it's a real designer piece. I showed it to colleague Lauren today, who admired the texture (wool, with silk lining).

Masked up:
My sweater-tank underneath is olive green to match the fleece-lined tights and the green in the plaid of the jacket.

Outerwear.
Also a little dark, but I do love the warm hug this coat gives.

Accoutrements:
I spied this silk scarf in my tumble and immediately thought, "Secret horses!" Tee hee!

  • Scarf - vintage, vintage fair
  • Gloves - Club Monaco, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Snoots ahoy! That's a very comfy heel.

Amber bling:
I realized halfway through the day that I'd totally whiffed on wearing bracelets. Heavens! What would Wonder Woman think?

  • Amber/silver necklace - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Amber pendant - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Earrings - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Amber/silver ring - antique shop, Sidney
  • Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Poison ring - Mexico, Karen's

I went out on the deck when I got home to try some pictures of the glorious pink sunset, but none of them quite caught it.
"What are we looking at? Why aren't I being fed?"

So I popped out to the Stair Picture locale and captured the Castle.
Ahhhh.

  3. I'm so hearing you on being in the doldrums, Sheila! However, I don't think you'll ever be able to blend in completely. Even when you're wearing neutrals, there's always a quirky element in your outfits, in this case the jacket and, of course, the snoots! Thanks for the shout-out, by the way! Loving your secret horses which reminds me of my King Louie coat, which is lined with secret horses.
Those glorious pink sunsets are notoriously hard to capture but how gorgeous - as well as a little bit spooky! - is your capture of the castle! xxx

  4. Yes, me too - fake snakes and real ones! I last wore mine in Spain. I shall make an effort to drag them out and rejoin the sisterhood.
This time of year is so gloomy but the sunrises and sunsets can be stunning. You captured the castle beautifully. Vizzini does look very indignant.
You'll never be dull, even in neutrals! xxx

  5. I love that pink sunset! I hope it cheered you up. I love when you wear colour, I find it so inspiring, but when you wear neutrals I like seeing it too - as you always have such special pieces, there are different cuts and textures. So you might not be feeling it, but you still look great! :)

  8. Sorry to hear you've been feeling down. We have had barely any sun here since before Christmas and it definitely has an effect on my mood. I would rather have cold, sunny days than the grey, just below zero weather we've been having.

  9. Those snoots rock, mwhaha. And I don't even consider possible that you blend in, your outfit can be less colourful, but not less interesting. Lots of textures, interesting shapes (wow, that jacket is amazing), beautiful amber jewellery and a fabulous coat!, totally fab even in neutrals.
    besos
