Bouts of the Blerg, Funky Friday and Cat Pics

Hello, my friends! No Mom-Day Adventure this week, as both L and I have been dealing with annoying bouts of the Blerg (aka sinus-attacking colds), which apparently we are sharing with all of our New Year's buds. This is the world we live in. Dammit, I miss my Mom!

And so, I avoided all of my coworkers today, and masked when near anyone, and didn't get to show off my outfit at all. Boo. Stupid Blerg.
I am ever so grateful for you out there in the blogoverse! This outfit's for you!

  • Jacket - Dolce & Gabbana, consignment; purchased here (with gift cards!) for $85.00
  • Shirt - Denver Hayes, consignment; last worn here in August 2022 under a dress
  • Skirt - Tibi, consignment; first seen here (2nd outfit) in October 2022 for a splurge at Fluevog
  • Shoes - Estefan Entity, Fluevog; last worn here in September 2022 with orange and poppies
  • Sweetums cape (below) - vintage 70s, consignment; last seen here in December 2022 for a Mom-Day Adventure

This is my first wearing of this new-to-me Dolce & Gabbana men's sporty jacket.
I love the motorcycle-ish vibe of it. It was lovely to wear - it felt like quality.

Speaking of quality, isn't this skirt fun?
It's such a thick knit and feels so nice on.

Without the jacket - I took it off when I first got to the office as I was glowing from my walk.
This pink shirt has been an excellent addition to my wardrobe. It goes with everything.

Masked up.
I decided to lean into gold accents in my outfit.

Outerwear - Sweetums!
It rained on the way home, so I retracted my hands inside the cape for secure warmth. Shoulda worn a hat, though.

Accoutrements:
One anonymous commenter spotted a face in yesterday's "accoutrements" scarf pic (here) - do you see anything here?

The stuff:
My colleague Tristin asked, "How do you stand in those?"

"Science!" I exclaimed.

Gold bling:
I based the jewelry around the new-to-me gold cuff on the left - it has little pink and magenta stones that match the pink shirt. Therefore all jewelry must be gold!

  • Shark cuff - Tom Binns, 2012, consignment
  • Gold cuff - D'Orlan, vintage 60s, gift from L, vintage mall
  • Lucite/steel ring - gift from L, vintage mall
  • Double snake ring - consignment
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Necklace - Givenchy, vintage 80s, vintage fair

I forgot to put on earrings again today! Where is my brain? I blame the Blerg, obviously.

Last night while I was on the computer, I heard a noise.
"Don't mind me, I'm just posing."

Vizzini, you silly thing. Why don't you go sleep on the Man?
"He's snoring."

That's nothing new (I snore louder). Are you waiting for a tummy rub?
"Maybe."

Is that the tum that needs rubbing there?
"Yes, please!"

And yes, I am wearing pink shoes - I am about to start mucking about with them (it may involve felt pens).

I'm off for the weekend - L and I both need some quiet time. Take care, my friends, and tummy rubs for all!

  1. Hope you feel better soon Sheila! And I like taking photos of my outfits each day also because if I don't feel that they were really appreciated in person, there is at least the record of them, haha!

Hope you and L have a nice relaxing recovery weekend.

  2. The dreaded lurgy is doing the rounds here as well, I think Jon & I nipped it in the bud overdosing on echinacea when we felt a tickly throat starting. Hope you and L feel better soon and that tummy rubs with Vizzini soon work their magic.
Brilliant idea combining the D&G jacket with the skirt, it's super funky!
Have a restful weekend, my friend!
PS We started watching Our Flag Means Death last night...hilarious!

  3. I'm sorry to hear about the Blerg, Sheila. It's definitely doing the rounds the world over it seems.
Your newly acquired Dolce & Gabbana sporty jacket looks absolutely brilliant paired with your striped skirt. As always I'm swooning over the Sweetums cape. You really do have the most fabulous outerwear! Can't wait to see what you'll do with the pink shoes ...
Do feel better soon, Sheila and L., I'm sure cuddles with Vizzini will be beneficial for the healing process! xxx

  4. That outfit is stunning! I love the way you styled the new jacket -- I did wonder what you were going to do with it. It is perfect with that very flattering striped skirt.

  7. Sorry to hear you got a cold (it looks like everybody has caught a dreaded lurgy!) and could not show your outfit to coworkers!
Lovely skirt and lovely shoes, even if they probably involve too much science for me! ;DD
All we need belly rubs, thanks!
    besos

  8. I know so many people who were sick over the holidays, or just afterwards. Even though few people are still masking here, I continue to mask up anywhere there is a lot of people. The bold black and white outfit is marvelous.
