Difficult Stripes and Loomed Lady Returns

I have mixed feelings about today's outfit. At first, it was the sweater.
Then it was the skirt. Thank goodness I had the Loomed Lady to ground me.

  • Sweater - Zara, thrifted; purchased here for $12.95
  • Skirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last worn here in February 2022 with a long vest
  • Shoes - Queen of Prussia Louise, Fluevog; last seen here in January 2022 with burgundy and houndstooth
  • Loomed Lady coat (below) - vintage 60s, thrifted; last worn here in April

I bought this thin sparkly sweater back in November because I love the stripes...and it's stumped me. Nothing in my closet goes with it!
I have very little navy blue and burgundy, and the accent stripes are lavender (matching my hair, at least!) and lime green.

Very difficult! And then it occurred to me...Maybe it goes in my spring/summer wardrobe, not my fall/winter? I'll stash it away until then and see what I have that goes with it. If nothing, then it goes to the giveaway pile!
The skirt has been a favourite of mine for 6 years, and this is its 11th wear. It's always been paired with these "orphan" types of blouses and tops - it's a good neutral. But...am I feeling this pencil skirt vibe? This particular pencil skirt? I need to ponder.

Masked up:
I liked this look overall, however - it just didn't really feel like "me" all that much. Tastes change!

Outerwear - the returned of the Loomed Lady coat!
And there was much rejoicing! Huzzah!

Isn't she lovely?
That's a navy and cream woven wool textile, so gorgeous.

Accoutrements:
This is the first wearing of this luxe silk scarf that L bought me for Christmas when I wasn't looking.

  • Hat - Edward Mann, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Scarf - Daniel La Foret, vintage mall, gift from L (was $20.00)
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Mask - by Mom

It was lovely and soft to wear and felt like a hug.

The stuff:
Skyscrapers! These are surprisingly comfortable - really! There's a thin platform inside the ball of the foot, which reduces the heel overall by about an inch - they're around a 2-inch heel overall. Shoe math!

Pearly bling:
I love bigass pearls, but these felt overly twee with this outfit. I like my pearls to be more ironic.

  • Necklace - vintage, consignment
  • Bracelet - thrifted, Powell River
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Bangle - fake Gucci, Italy, gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1988
  • Feather ring - Fossil, thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

Ah well, tomorrow is another day!

  1. Hi Sheila, your Slacker Vagabond boots (lime and lavender) of yesterday could maybe go with this top? Apparently pencil skirts will be making a comeback, but I am also not feeling them that much and they used to be a favourite style for me. Anyway I find all your outfits interesting and fun. Lise

  2. I really like that skirt and I do think it's nice with the top but it's not your usual wow factor. That coat definitely is! I hope that you can find more fun outfits to make from that striped top in the warmer weather, although I have no helpful ideas to suggest, sorry!

  3. The skirt in my dressing for work days would have been good for me. I see what you mean for your recent posts. Not the flow and movement, but it's very pretty on you. The coat- it is completely fabulous.

  4. I quite like that striped polo sweater. I have a similiar one and I like to wear it with a striped skirt. The pencil skirt you paired it with is very pretty.

  5. Haven't you got a denim skirt? Don't think so right? Love that sweater, already did when you bought it. And the coat is fantastic, also the shoes. What a luxurious colour.

  6. I'm absolutely loving this outfit, Sheila, but if you're not feeling it, then that's it!
I'd give the striped jumper another go in your Spring/Summer wardrobe, though. Like Nancy, I'm thinking denim skirt ...
There's no doubt about the Loomed Lady though. Swoon! xxx
