Boss Lady in a Plaid Quad

It's Friday for me today, as I take US Thanksgiving off every year (even though I'm Canadian). What can I say? I love NFL football and I love having my best guy friends over for chili and a grand time.

But first, I clad myself in Office Armour for a hugely busy day ahead.
Black and white and red all over! I'm a walking punchline. This is the only picture where you can see the pinstripes in the trousers, by the way.

  • Wool blazer - Smythe, consignment; first worn here in April with a purple pencil skirt
  • Shirt - Abbie Mags, thrifted; first seen here in September in a twisted cowgirl outfit
  • Trousers - Red Valentino, consignment; last worn here with a disco vest in December 2021
  • Shoes - Truths Pilgrims, Fluevog; last seen here in April with a Boss Lady suit

Pretty pastel morning colours in the sky today.
There are rumours of snow for the weekend! Noooo! The leaves have barely started falling off the trees!

I wore this jacket buttoned up thusly whenever I got up from my desk chair.
The wool blazer is such a good fit and amazing quality.

This larger-scale plaid shirt worked really well under it.
The red cuffs peeked out.

I went for coffee with colleague Kristina and she admired the real leather patches on the elbows.
The trousers are unlined wool and itchy itchy ITCHY.

Itch-cure: I wore vintage slip-fabric pants underneath the first time I wore them and now forever after - they completely removed any itch and kept my trousers from creasing. They were originally sold with three rows of ruffles so that you could trim to your desired length - I remember seeing these in stores like Sears when I was a teen in the 80s.
Also showing off my special fancy knee-highs - they have a couple of snags/holes in them, but you can't see them. You may enjoy seeing them here (3rd outfit) back in 2013, shown off in the outfit I was wearing That Time I Fell Off a Bus.

Without the jacket. I overheated a couple of times.
I felt like such a Boss Lady in this outfit.

Masked up.
Who's in charge? Me!

Outerwear:
More plaid!

Accoutrements:
The pink plaid gloves wool/leather gloves kind of go with the pinks in the scarf. Okay, I just wanted to pull of a Plaid Quad (one, two, three, four plaids!).

  • Gloves - thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
  • Beret - Parkhurst, consignment
  • Silk scarf - Halston, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
More comfy shoes. These are a classic Fluevog design.

Black bling:
The tie came with a skirt many years ago - I knew it would come in handy one day. I keep a few versatile colours of tie belts and ribbons on a clip in my closet.

  • Belt - gift from Ruth
  • Anneke and Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Brooch - thrifted

Someone was happy to see me when I got home. We had good news from the vet: his blood pressure is totally back in a normal range and he's doing great.
"I told you."

I may pop in here and there over the next couple of days, but most definitely will be back on Sunday with tales of adventure! A very happy Thanksgiving to my US friends, and I wish you all a weekend full of good times spent with good people.

  4. Boss Lady outfit par excellence! Wonderful mix of plaids and those classic pinstripe trousers are fantastic. And how cute are those vintage slip-fabric pants? Of course I had to follow your link to find out about that time you fell off the bus, gory details and all. Ouch! xxx

  6. This is such a boss lady look and I like how well the prints coordinate. Pops of red are always a good way to help me feel a bit more confident too! It's good news about Vizzini as well :)

I can't believe you might get snow soon - although in saying that we have had such hot almost summer like days I can see why winter might be starting early for you, feels like summer already has here!

  7. Love this outfit, you look fabulous! Only thing I’d change would be the gloves to black leather ones.😍
