Bold Shoulders and Orange Plaid

Today's my Friday, as tomorrow's my usual day off and Remembrance Day is on the 11th. Let's celebrate with an outfit.
I have been looking forward to wearing this awesome orange plaid skirt again.

  • Jacket - Zara, consignment; first worn here in October 2021 with another long pencil skirt
  • Sweater - Beechers Brook, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in February with blue leopard
  • Skirt - Zara, consignment;
  • last worn here in January with a difficult black jacket (it went to the giveaway pile)
  • Boots - Prepare 2.0 Tracker, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) in October with stripes and embroidered moto
  • Eclipse Coat (below) - Welsh, vintage 60s, thrifted; last worn here on Friday

It's been bloody cold so there was no way I was going to be chilly today.
This awesome jacket zips up the front with a big chunky zipper. It also has a pocket for stashing things.

I love the big sleeves. The fabric is a thin neoprene, so it's warm - perfect for the cold.
It has belt loops, but no one tells me where my waist is.

Isn't the skirt fabulous?
I've liked every outfit I've worn with it.

I took the jacket off a few times (yay, hot flashes) to show my cobalt blue sweater. The plaid has a thread of blue, so I often do blue with it.
I quickly threaded the belt through the skirt's belt loops. Voila!

Masked up.
I do love pops of red.

Outerwear - this was nicely warm, although I've yet to do my coat closet swap-over.
The warmth of this lovely, thick, woven coat has been a nice surprise.

Accoutrements:
It feels too soon to be digging into my fur and thick wooly scarves - I have so many fall silk scarves.

  • Fur scarf - Danier, thrifted
  • Toque - gift from Tammy
  • Gloves - Echo, consignment
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
These are one of my current favourite pairs of boots. So comfy.

Minimal bling:
I wore my poppy instead of a brooch.

  • Belt - Gap, thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair

  1. I'm mad for the sleeves on the neoprene jacket and the skirt must have been a welcome blast of colour to people on their commute. Those boots are fabulous! xxx

  2. Your outfit immediately had me thinking of nestling up cozy, comfy and warm, and it isn’t even a blanket. ;) Three cheers for the figure-flattering cheery skirt and the kick-ass boots, and the spiffy jacket!

  3. The skirt looks orange or red plaid depending how I look. It's so sporting, but classy. Enjoy your extra long weekend.

  4. I love neoprene jackets, and skirts for that matter. Love the skirt too. Pencil skirts are always so retro elegant.

  8. Hi Sheila, I'm busy having a blog catch-up.
Love the outfit, especially those sleeves. They really give great structure to an outfit and a lovely silhouette don't you think? Also, those boots tick both style and practicality boxes with their sturdy treads. Lovely!
