Jammy Dress and Final Test

My blogging friends, I feel I must apologize for my absence in leaving comments on your posts lately. My workload has increased hugely in the last few weeks, and I'm really feeling it, mental health-wise. And instead of staying up till 1am visiting and commenting, I've been trying to do good things for my brain, like reading and sleeping. I know many of you "get it," so thank you in advance for your understanding.

And so...we push on! Clothes, let's talk about clothes.
It was a Jammy Dress kind of day - I put up the office Christmas tree for the first time since 2019! It felt weird.

  • Dress - Nanette Lepore, thrifted; last seen and Flashbacked here in December 2021 for shopping with Mom in Oak Bay
  • Boots - Matisse, consignment; last worn here in November on a snow day
  • Coat (below) - Halston, vintage 70s, consignment; last seen here three times on the weekend

I didn't want to snag any of my good clothes so this dress was perfect. I sat on the floor, climbed a stepladder, and shoved boxes around in it.
It's one of my favourite Jammy Dresses - I have worn it with so many different accessories over the years.

Today's boot/belt combo is the first time I've repeated.
Why mess with a winning formula?

This dress is elasticated with rows of shirred elastic at the cuffs, waist and neck.
I just pull it on over my head. I have fleece tights and a vintage slip layered under this.

Masked up:
I love the branch pattern of the fabric - I often refer to this as my Branch Dress.

Outerwear.
Worn open for my dash outside to get my lunch.

Today's outfit was the final test of my Halston shearling Ultrasuede coat and my biggest fear when I bought it. I remembered that I'd had immense Coat Rage here in December 2019 when I wore my previous faux shearling coat with this exact dress.
I was waiting for the dress to start climbing my legs, or the arms to start migrating towards my shoulders. I'm in awe, nothing budged! You're all going to get sick of this coat, as I will be wearing it forever.

Accoutrements:
This hat is a little big on me, but I love the dark green.

  • Hat - thrifted
  • Scarf - Pierre Balmain, thrifted
  • Gloves - vintage, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I walked to and from work in these boots today.

Tan bling:
The belt is a star - it's a mix of raffia and metal mesh, and all of the metal parts are handcast. It weighs a ton.

  • Belt - Sand Castle, thrifted
  • Chain/leather bracelet - thrifted
  • Leather stud bracelet - Kipling, thrifted
  • Necklace - Anne Klein, vintage 80s, Grandma J's
  • Brass/jade ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Brutalist ring - vintage mall
  • Earrings - Kenneth Cole, thrifted

  1. Hooray for a coat that doesn't create rage! Again, it works brilliantly with this fabulous outfit.
Don't stress about other blogs, your sanity must come first. xxx

  2. When life gets hard, leaving comments is and should be the first thing to jettison. You can (and will) return to that later. It's more important to get rest and mental peace. Happy Thanksgiving to you and L!

  3. I totally get you, and there's absolutely no reason to stress about not visiting or commenting other blogs. Sending hugs and support all the way from Belgium!
And only jammy dresses will do on days like these. I've got a soft spot for black floral frocks and it looks fantastic with the belt/boot combo. And yay for the coat having passed its final test. Best buy ever! xxx

  4. Cost per wear on that coat is clicking downward quickly. The most expensive items in my closet are winter coats. The least expensive items per wear are my winter coats. Funny how that works in Canada.

  5. Do not stress about being behind with online things, I find I'm always behind as we creep into Christmas with so much going on! We can only do what we can, and taking care of ourselves will always be the most important thing.
This is such a beautiful jammy dress and I'm loving that the coat worked well with it - I will never get bored of seeing it, it is such a stylish coat on you! :)
