L and I went for brunch at the Ruby on Saturday morning.
I've had this outfit combo waiting in the wings for a while - it was sunny and not overly chilly, so this was the day to wear it.
The proportions didn't feel quite right with the zebra jumpsuit.
I liked the jacket better with the short skirt that I styled it with on its first wearing.

So, the jacket is a keeper - it's wool, and so structural.
The zebra jumpsuit on the other hand, is not that great quality that I look for in my closet. It's off to the giveaway pile.

Done up - I wasn't outside for long.
I forgot to take my Accoutrements pictures for both outfits this weekend, even though I had them all laid out. Gah.

We grocery shopped afterwards, then came home and chilled out.

We had a blast going through all the giveaway clothes - I love clothing swaps. I took back two regret-me-not dresses from Caro, including this tiger beauty. She's by The 1300 Collection, Holt Renfrew, and is from the 70s. I bought her for $22.95, what a bargain.
Carolyn removed the approximately 6,000 staples from my terrible "fix" of the hem, trimmed off a few inches from the ratty hem, and sewed the hem up properly. She also sealed the hole in the waist.
Here I am wearing it for the first time in September 2016.
I wore it to Vero's birthday party and played with the hem, tucking it up into my belt and pretending it was pants. I remember laughing my head off over that. And here I am, the last time I wore it, to an Urbanite at the Art Gallery in November 2017.
I let it go shortly after that, and Caro recently wore it (pic here) for our October party this year.
I also took back this Bottega Veneta silk dress. Caro wore it a few times but just doesn't have room in her/Ron's new (much smaller) house.
I have loved this dress since I bought it, but I need to work hard to style it.

Here are my previous two wearings of it:
This was in April 2021 - I attempted to layer a lace top under it and wear it for work. And this was in August 2021, worn on a hot day.
I still like it, and I'll give it another try this summer. It was too good to go to donation! I paid $26.25 for it at the now-defunct Patch.

From Petra's pile, I snagged this lovely collared stretch lace top.
Well, that was my weekend! I'm off now to enjoy a quiet day of football and kitty snuggles. Sending you all good vibes and warm wishes.
Swapping zebra for tiger, haha! Good choice. The floral dress with orange accessories is how I see this. You are so lucky to have friends the same size.
ReplyDeleteFlamenco skirt- oooh, I swooneth!!! It's lovely. Would you please explain what consignment means in your next post? I'm never quite sure what you mean by it!
ReplyDeleteI love the red cable sweater with the skirt!
I see what you mean about the jumpsuit. The jacket is certainly a keeper. I have a horror of big shoulders for myself but I love them on other people!
x
I love the proportions of that red jacket on you and the shoes have me mesmerised.
ReplyDeleteThat tiger print dress is fabulous, I'm glad you've reclaimed it. I'm pretty sure I have a strapless, maxi length version of your Bottega Veneta silk dress in the stockroom, the maker's labels had been removed but the care label was 100% silk, made in Italy. xxx
It's too bad the zebra jumpsuit was not for your closet because it looked quite fun. Your clothes swaps are such a good idea if your clothes work for each other.
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing you on the proportions of your first outfit, although the mix of zebra print and red is fabulous. But did I get it right that the jumpsuit was strapless? I can only imagine wearing anything strapless - or sleeveless for that matter - at the height of Summer. Brr, I'm getting goosebumps just thinking of it :-) I'm loving the black and white bling with it, and those shoes are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWeather wise, the flamenco skirt and jumper is more like it for me right now! And I can see the cost per wear of that Halston coat diminishing before my very eyes ...
The Holt Renfrew dress is a stunner. I'm glad to read the improved version has rejoined your wardrobe! xxx
Lovely outfits and how fab to have a clothes swap! My friends are all smaller sizes than me so my clothes wouldn't fit them and their clothes wouldn't fit me - boo-hoo! Luckily, my daughter and I have the same sized feet so she gives me her cast offs....
ReplyDeleteI loved your lace shirt from the give away pile and I can see it would be difficult to style the Bottega Veneta dress; the shape looks a bit awkward. The Holt Renfrew dress is spectacular!
Have a great week!
xxx
That tiger-dress is amazing. If I was smaller and could fit into your clothes, I'd buy up all your cast-aways!
ReplyDeleteI loves me a red coat!
ReplyDeleteThat jumpsuit makes such a fun statement, but in saying that, the red blazer is the main awesome focus in that outfit so I can see why the jumpsuit just didn't shine and you're letting it go. So nice to see those dresses back in your wardrobe, I look forward to seeing how you wear them in future!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the proportions of the red jacket and zebra jumpsuit are a bit odd. The jacket is fabulous so I'm happy you kept it and ditched the jumpsuit. The tiger print dress is a much better (re)addition to your closet.
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket (shoulders included!) and its fab shape and colour, and love the idea of red and zebra together but have to agree about proportions!. Glad you'll keep the jacket!. And those fab shoes that totally rock!
ReplyDeleteLove having a swap party with friends!
