Wine and Bronze, and a Great Coat

Oh, Monday, my old foe. I required some armour today. Colour! Pattern! Texture! Shine!
I spent a while last night picking out my ensembles for the week. This always makes me feel better, and reminds me to do it more.

  • Coat - Citrine, consignment; first seen here in April with gold pants and neutrals
  • Tux blouse - no label, thrifted; last worn here on our 25th anniversary weekend in Vancouver in March
  • Skirt - Ralph Lauren, consignment; last seen here in October with a beaded snake
  • Boots - Baroque Velazquez, Fluevog; last worn here with burgundy bookends in November 2021
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last seen here in October

I only saw a few people today, but every single one of them said, "Great coat!" It is, rather.
Due to the length and odd mix of colours (grey, burgundy, caramel and gold) it's tricky to style.

I was happy to pair it with this long swooshy bronze skirt, even though it doesn't match the coat.
Bronze is a neutral! Close enough!

This length of jacket hasn't been "in" for two decades.
Seems like it's overdue for a comeback, right?

I took the jacket off a couple of times. This stretch-silk blouse has been a favourite for 4+ years.
I like menswear-looking shirts with femme details - this top has a row of ruffles down either side of the covered button placket.

Masked up.
And showing off my boots!

Outerwear:
I was fine with my sleeveless coat over this - I walk briskly!

Accoutrements:
I finally found the right home for this as-yet-unworn gold bow brooch. It's too heavy for most fabrics - I'm sure it's meant to be worn on a coat.

  • Hat - gift from Tammy
  • Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, vintage fair - purchased here for $7.00
  • Mask - by Mom
  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - thrifted

The stuff:
I should really wear these more than once a year! They are very comfy and so very beautiful.

Gold bling:
One of my colleagues admired how I tied everything together with the bits of gold, matching them to the gold in the jackets. It's like I planned it...

  • Belt - Notes du Nord, consignment
  • Earrings - Biko, consignment
  • Necklace - Givenchy, vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Amber ring - c. 1996

  2. I too like how you coordinated everything, metallics always look so good together! And that jacket is such a nice topper with this outfit! :)

  3. You do plan things to the smallest detail. Your brain must thing in coordination patterns. When you ship, I imagine you have visuals of what you'll put with each other.

  9. Fantastic outfit, Sheila, the mix of the metallics and the burgundy is stunning, and I'm sure that skirt made Monday significantly more bearable. Mondays are my foe too, they're particularly horrible after three-day weekends. Pinning that brooch to your hat was an inspired idea. And well done for assembling outfits for the week ahead. I try to, but often fail to do so. xxx

  11. That is a terrific coat. You're giving me ideas how to style my gold skirt. I never thought of going with a wine colour, but I love how it looks on you.

  13. Beautiful colour combination in this outfit and I think the longer coat looks so elegant over the skirt.
