Reader Request: Purple Leather Pencil With Velvet Skulls

Happy October, my friends! This is my favourite month of the year, and I'm eager to dig into my fall clothes...but the closet swap-over had to wait due to all the busy-ness of the past weekend.

I still have a few reader requests to get through - here's the purple leather Chia brand skirt you requested, Laurie!
I fall-ified it by adding lacy tights, and kept things on the spooky side with this top.

  • Top - True Religion, consignment; first worn here in June with my Mondrian skirt
  • Skirt - Chia, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in September with a snaky wrap
  • Booties - Suzie Truths, Fluevog, consignment; last worn here (4th outfit) with my red leopard suit in July
  • Leather jacket (below) - Elizabeth and James, consignment; last seen here in June

The top is sheer - I have a beige tank-cami on under it.
The skirt's good - I've had it for ages.

Black was an easy pick to make it more cool-weather appropriate.
This is only my second wearing of the top.

In addition to being sheer, it's also thin, so I won't be keeping it out for fall.
It's subtle, but there are skulls in the burn-out velvet (aka Devore - de-VOR-ay!).

Masked up.
I did some physical stuff in the office today, pushing boxes around.

Outerwear and incognito.
Ridiculously silly wee pockets. Those are not good for hands, only for keys. I love this jacket otherwise. And yes, it was far too warm for it today - it was gorgeous and sunny all day.

Accoutrements:
Black cats!

  • Scarf - Fluevog
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Love these booties.

Turquoise bling:
I picked out the multi-stone bracelet first, then decided to wear a bunch of my turquoise.

  • Necklace - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Hinged silver cuff - vintage, thrifted, Powell River
  • Silver/onyx ring - Mexico, gift from Mom and Dad, c. 1986
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Earrings - Mexico, consignment
  • Bracelet - Salt Spring Island, gift from L, c. 1998

While I was photographing my stuff, someone was getting up to no good in my closet!
"These must be a present for me!"

He's after the shoelaces! Vizzini has always loved "kitty spaghetti."

  2. Look at that boy of yours! He knows a great secondhand find when he sees one.
That's a great outfit. I want to steal your turquoise jewellery - it's my birthstone! xxx

  3. Vizzini in your closet…that’s a good sign! Unless he can sniff out laces. ;)

Once you added the jacket and fabulous scarf I was all in on this outfit. The color combos tickled my taste. :) along with the lacy tights. To my eye the jacket causes the skirt color to pop, yay!
(I’m still in a “more color therapy, please) state of mind.)

We know Victoria’s weather is similar to that in Olympia, WA, and have oogled with Robin over the amazing days and comfy nights they’ve been experiencing. He said this is why people love it out there so much…until the rainy season begins. ;) Here in NY we are having rain, which is good because it’s been dry though am equally glad to see sun in the forecast (good for lifting spirits :)).

    Cheers, Laurie

  4. I haven't done my swap-over yet, either, and I'm not sure when I'll find the time. I've already pulled a couple of things out, though.
Your purple leather skirt is another stunner, and I love how you "fall-ified" it. Swooning over that bracelet!
Aww, look at Vizzini checking out your closet! xxx

  5. I really like the blue jacket with the purple skirt, and I love the black top and tights together, they pair so nicely with that beautiful skirt! I miss pencil skirts a little not being in the office as much!

Such a cute little shoe lace chewer in your wardrobe there too :)

  7. Amazing that Vizzini is still finding and playing with laces. I thought he had gone blind.
