Lavender Bookending Leather and Purple Pleats

Another day...and I arrived at work to find that my audit was scheduled to start at 8:30am. Yikes! I warned the auditors that I had only had one cup of coffee!
Fortunately, it all went well, but phew, it's a lot. As the office manager, many of the nitty-gritty things like security, access and fire & life safety fall on my shoulders.

  • Top - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here in February with pink underneath
  • Skirt - The Limited, thrifted; purchased here for $7.95
  • Shoes - Leith, consignment; last seen here in August 2021 with a now-gone gold jacket
  • Jacket (below) - Elizabeth & James, consignment; last worn here in May

Good thing I was all armoured up too!
Instead of my usual fit-and-flare silhouette, I went for a dropped waist by wearing this leather top (the front of it is lined leather, as well as the placket around the zipper in back).

The purple pleated skirt is a delight, I was happy to discover. It's supremely swishy and whipped around in the wind (see the stair pic).
Of course, I spilled food on it, but a quick spot-wash at work and a few squirts of Folex when I got home, and all was well.

I love this length too - it's not too short and not too long.
Juuuust right.

I didn't want to wear black shoes, and I no longer have purple ones in this precise shade.
So I bookended my lavender metallic shoes...with my hair!

I also added a bold BAM of blue with my outerwear.
And yes, it was cold enough for a leather jacket. It's currently 16 degrees but feels chillier due to the gusty wind.

Accoutrements:
I love this scarf - it goes with so much!

  • Scarf - Fluevog
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I'm sure these were bridesmaid shoes, but I like that heel. The elasticized leather over the vamp locks them onto my feet. No "thwap-thwap" when I'm walking (I loathe that sound).

Minimal bling:
I totally forgot to pick out rings!

  • Mixed stone ring - Salt Spring artist, gift from L
  • Bangles - thrifted
  • Earrings - Kate Spade, consignment

My hands felt naked, even though I wear 5 rings every day on a regular basis (2 on one finger, 3 on another).

  1. I have to meet with auditors Thursday, but it will be virtual. I doubt I'll look so stunning.

  3. You look gorgeous in this. I love the lavender skirt and lilac heels. The leather statement top is fabulous too. I have been wearing nothing but my new uniform for almost a month now...and every single day...I miss wearing normal clothes so much.

  4. Wow, that must have been a shock! I'm glad the audit went well, though I can imagine it's a lot of responsibility for things other people take for granted!
I'm sure your fabulous outfit was a great contributing factor. Clothing as armour really does help.
I'm definitely loving this silhouette on you! The top is indeed just the right length, which being short I'm finding quite a balancing act. Tops are usually too long on me!
The mixed stone bracelet is a stunner, and I too feel naked when I'm not wearing (a) ring(s). xxx

  5. I really love those shoes. I think slides are my favorite. As they give room for my feet to swell with my arthritis and I can get them on during bad days. It is hard to be in charge and audits are the worst. With one cup of coffee.... you go girl.

  6. That's awfully early for "work" work. You must be glad that's over with.
Knee length skirts are great, and that's a beautiful shade of purple.

  7. Loving the combination of leather and floaty! You've just reminded me, I've got to do my fire checklist for Glastonbury - like you, the responsibility for health and safety and risk assessments has always been mine, it must be because we look so sensible! xxx

  8. 8.30?????? Mean!!
Loving the pleaty purple. Reminds me of a gorheous Ted Baker top I used to own. The shoes are great! A nice height too. I agree the Thwap, thwap is annoying!
You spilt food, I spilt body lotion. I refilled a flat tub with very liquid lotion and used it for the first time today when in a hurry. It exploded over me, covering my nice cool, cobalt, linen culottes in a large layer of handcream...and the bathroom floor. I ended up having to change and that made me late for the train so I had to run the entire mile to the station (left my bike at school due to the concert last night. Am consequently BOILING!

  9. That's just cruel and unusual punishment to have a meeting with auditors at 8:30 am. The purple pleated skirt is lovely.
