A Pair of Peter Pilottos

I knew from the moment I spotted this blouse in the thrift store, I'd be wearing it with this skirt.
They're a matched pair!

  • Top - Peter Pilotto x Target, thrifted, Sidney; last seen here (4th outfit) in September for shopping
  • Skirt - Peter Pilotto x Target, consignment; last worn here in October 2021 for a bounding brunch
  • Boots - Original Sabado, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) in September with my post-it dress
  • Leather blazer (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here in August

They're both from the Peter Pilotto x Target collection of 2014, which makes them both nearly 9 years old.
I found the complete look-book here (link 'cause I love), and there's a model wearing this top and bottom in the article. I would love to find the pants in slide 44 - groovy.

But I don't know that either of these pieces are "forever" in my wardrobe.
The top's fabric feels so cheap, and I always sweat when I wear it.

"It's a LOT," was the consensus of my coworkers. As in a lot of pattern.
That's okay, I'm a lot!

Masked up.
The skirt has the added benefits of thicker fabric, lining and pockets. It might last a bit longer.

Incognito outerwear:
I felt pretty kickass in this.

Accoutrements:
Only the classiest - Halston!

  • Scarf - Halston, vintage 70s,
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
I originally started with the blue version of these, but the black helped ground all that pattern. I walked to and from work in these.

Blue bling:
I didn't need much!

  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/sodalite ring - Scotland, 1996
  • Earrings - local

  1. Okay, it is a lot together, but I could see the skirt with a solid pullover and a big necklace. It doesn't look like something from 2014-that could be completely current.
Target has done some interesting partnerships (the Liberty one was fab) but the materials are kinda downscale. I have a Target x Missoni blouse I love but it is the cheapest polyester and unpleasant to wear.

  2. My favourite boots! It's good to see them again!
I ditched my William Morris for H&M Pimpernel blouse for the same reason - it looked amazing (or so people told me) but the fabric was evil. xxx

  3. It's a pity that top makes you sweat as it is a very good looking combination!

  4. Sounds like Target’s attempts to make fashion fun and affordable sometimes backfires due to using cheap materials. In any case, had a good chuckle because my first thought was I couldn’t distinguish the top from the skirt. ;) Then I read they were meant to go together and smiled.

It is a lot, more so from the back view. The front didn’t feel as “much.” As I’ve gotten older my skin has become more sensitive so if a material doesn’t sit well with me, off to the donation pile the piece goes; that’s likely where the top would go!

    Cheers,

  5. It is a lot of print but it coordinates so well and if there is anyone who can rock something so colourful and print mix so perfectly it's you - you are fearless and I always like your combinations. You can clearly see the top and skirt were made to be together, and while it is a lot of print, it's not too much, if you know what I mean. It's a shame the quality isn't there but it's nice you have had some fun wearing these pieces, and I hope the skirt does stick around a little longer!

  6. It is a lot of pattern, but it doesn't overwhelm you. The skirt does look fantastic with the blue leather jacket too.

  7. How serendipitous that you found that matching blouse, but what a shame about the substandard fabric. It does look fabulous, although I do understand why that mix of patterns might not be for the faint-hearted. The leather blazer is perfect with it, and so are those fantastic boots! xxx

  8. I wish they didn't use cheap fabrics for great collaborations. I felt similarly to Vix about the H&M x William Morris collab.
It's fun when you thrift something that goes with an existing outfit, isn't it! Kezzie x

  9. It may be “a lot”, yet I think no more than a Desigual piece, no? I personally love these pieces together (though I’m not usually that matchy) and for some reason, I can also picture this pair with a wiiiiide belt connecting the two. It seems they are “calming chaos” for my brain. But if the top is sweat inducing, ugh. Lived through that as a hormonal teen in the late 1970’s. Nope just nope.

  10. I like your attitude - "I'm a lot". I'm becoming more sensitive to certain fabrics.

  11. I am sure your co-workers are used to you being able to pull off outfits with pizazz that would swamp most people! You are great at styling, plus you have attitude!

  12. Sorry that the top is not great quality, but it's such a lucky find!, love some matchiness even when it's a Lot. Love those boots and the jacket is cool!, fabulously kickass!
