Reader Requests: Digital Irises and Half-Truths

I got my booster jab today (hooray!) and went out for dinner after work with friends - we were supposed to go to the theatre, but they cancelled all the shows this week due to "illness." Hmm...I wonder which one?

All that to say, I saved this dress and shoes specifically for today because of all that.
Thanks to my coworker/friend Gord for requesting a repeat of this dress, and to Eve from Ireland who requested these shoes.

  • Dress - Elie Tahari, consignment; last worn here in August with matchy necklace and shoes
  • Shoes - Half-Truth Tanya, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) for an August vintage fair
  • Poncho (below) - Welsh, vintage, thrifted; last worn here in September with my picador skirt

I've never worn them together before, which is kind of shocking.
I've only had the dress a couple of years, but I've had the shoes for 10!

I hoiked the sleeve up to get my jab.
No ill effects, although I'm starting to hear the siren call of the couch (and warm kitty).

I walked down to the local pub to meet up with Yvonne, Randall, Caro, Ron and Nick for dinner.
We'll reschedule (Yvonne, me and whoever else can make it) our tickets for a day during the rest of the play's run. It was still awesome to see everyone mid-week - it felt so decadent!

Masked up:
We had clients in the office today - it was so nice to see one of my favourites again.

Incognito.
Our lovely weather continues - this poncho was a little chilly on the walk with Nick home in the dark after dinner, but was fine in the morning and right after work.

Accoutrements:
Classy Designer Alert!

  • Silk scarf - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Eve specifically requested that I NOT wear these with the "perfect match" Tatyana green sweater (this one, pic link) with these shoes. Not a problem, Eve! I hope you and Gord enjoyed "your" outfit.

Green bling:
Slight regret that I didn't wear the matching lemon-lime vintage crystal brooch on my poncho - it and the earrings are a set from my Gram, Mom's mom.

  • Earrings - vintage 60s, Gram S's
  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Crystal bracelet - vintage 60s, Mom's
  • Sparkly cocktail ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Flower ring - Sidney

And now I'm off to fall asleep in front of the TV. Bliss!

  1. I love the shoes! I always think of that kind of heel and buckle as witchy- in a good way!

Thanks for getting the jab and keeping others safe as well as yourself!

  2. Seriously Superb outfit and…drum roll…it is also a jammy dress :) and it is colorful :)

Fred got his flu shot yesterday. He was fine in the afternoon but is cuddled with a blanket this morning, it’s the next best cuddler if you don’t have a kitty or a dog. ;)

    Cheers, Laurie

  3. That dress certainly deserved another outing and keeping it for booster jab day was very clever. It was much too cold for short sleeves when I got mine, so had to wear an obliging jumper! Loving all the green bling, particularly the flower ring, and of course I always love seeing that Welsh wool poncho! xxx

  6. The print on your dress reminds me of the inkblots used in the Rorschach test. Eve's challenge for those shoes not to match your outfit was an inspired one.
I had my booster this morning and I realised that I've worn the same cape-sleeved kaftan for three out of the four of my Covid jabs.
    Enjoy the cat snuggles! xxx

  8. Autocorrect was responsible for “Escalade.” This outfit is a winner!
