Reader Request: Funky Friday in Emojis and Boss Pants

Happy Friday, my friends. I am dog-tired and need a nap before I can get up to any weekend shenanigans.

Let's wrap up Reader Requests with the final one - Sam requested my Big Red Boss Lady Pants. Ask and you shall receive, Sam.
As I had these in the back of my mind since Sam asked for them, when I bought this denim dress thing, I had an "Aha moment."

  • Denim dress - Emoji x Peacebird, consignment; purchased here for $36.00
  • Top - Marimekko, consignment; first seen here in July with more Marimekko for a Mom-Day adventure at Blenkinsop Lake
  • Pants - Zara, thrifted; last seen here in August with sheer roses
  • Shoes - 5YMedio; last worn here in June with these same pants
  • Jacket (below) - Prosperity, consignment; last seen here in April for a Mom-Day adventure on the harbour

I had a lovely Castle View this morning.
We're supposed to get nice sunny weather all weekend, rain starting on Monday.

And this is the last spring/summer outfit of the season.
I didn't see very many people today, so thank you, colleague Glenn for noticing and checking out all the bits and pieces.

I went with primary colours to set off the denim dress thing - dang, what would you call this? A tunic?
I love this Marimekko stripey top - I'll probably keep it out for layering in fall/winter.

I will not be keeping these linen-blend pants out - they're way too thin to wear in cold weather.
I should have pulled the denim thing down before I took the picture, ha.

Masked up.
Matchy!

  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

Outerwear - I never did zip this jacket up.
I wanted to get one last wearing out of it.

I love the outer space pattern.
I also seem to be collecting sporty garments with white stripes on them. Hmmm.

The stuff:
Such great shoes. Comfy!

Bold bling:
I picked out all of my accessories for this look before I did the jewelry swap-over...so now I'm stuck with the yellow cuff, which I usually pack away. The rest is usually out all year round.

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Leather/steel cuff - Rimanchik
  • Bowie pin - vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Wooden earrings - consignment, Sidney

This is a long weekend here in Canada - it's Thanksgiving! It's also my birthday on Sunday, and I'll be a whopping 55 years old, which puts me into the Senior category at a few places. Ack! I don't feel 55...

Anyway, I'll be back on Monday with tales of adventure! Thank you so much for dropping by, and wishing you all a chill and fun weekend.

  9. Yes, I would call the denim thing a tunic. I would have worn it with a more "quiet" top, which will come as no surprise to you. The space jacket is indeed very nice.

  11. Happy birthday Sheila, and aren't you lucky you've got a long weekend to celebrate?
This outfit put a huge smile on my face! I wasn't sure how you were going to wear that denim tunic/dress, but you definitely nailed it! There are some serious 70s vibes going on here, and I can actually remember my teenage self wearing similar at the time. Fabulous! xxx
